  1. LIGHT N or NW winds will pin the warm water tight to the bank making fishing VERY easy.
  2. Pre-spawn staging salmon often school-stack vertically so fish at the top of the spawn swarm will often end up at the top of the water column. Underwater footage of salmon in Alaska show this "chasing" pre-spawn meet-and-greet that happens before the fish move into the pier heads. Can be truly maddening looking at a graph stacked from top to bottom with hooks and not have them biting! I come across these spawn-balls west of Wilson with fish getting ready to run the Niagara.
  3. Its called the East-wind blues.
  4. Usually done with sticks come May 1st. By then I am all spoons. Baits like Dreamweaver SS would be an excellent bet for browns. I run a lot of Northport nailers also.
  5. To update: Letters have gone out to various state government employees and we have begun to hear back. There are people from this site that have stepped up and its working. We still need people from Jefferson, Cayuga and Orleans county residents represented so please step forward if you can. PM me your address and I will send you the form letters to send to your county representatives. Thanks.
  6. Congrats on launching your battleship. Hopefully you and the fleet of charters have a bountiful and safe season! I hope to be on the water this weekend.
  7. I have been on the docks in the UP Michigan to buy whitefish from fishermen bringing in their days catch. They net these fish when they come into shallow water to spawn in October-November. The bi-catch in the gill nets included smallmouth, kings, steelhead, etc. etc. Canada can keep their nets!
  8. They are stocking bloater chubs now. Take a look at the different whitefish species as they all kind of look alike.
  9. Breaks in the coated cable can cause this. A bad sending antenna or the cable that plugs into the back of the display are also causes. Call Moor in Buffalo. You may have to send the unit to them to diagnose the problem. Rarely is it the probe.
  10. Bring the boards and fish leadcore off them.
  11. Mono to standard leadcore use the willis knot
  12. Negligible pull unless you add an inline planer board. The board is what pulls. With a board involved go with medium action.
  13. Yes, cdq.....I caught them on glow clown J-plugs and silver streak screwball spoons.
  14. Catch and release works! I keep catching them over and over! Do you guy want to know what lures I am using? How about trolling speed?
  15. Decided to take advantage of the nice weather today and launched the Gill-T Hooker with friends. Not much going on along the shore due to clear water conditions. Decided to chase some Lake Trout in the 50' band of water and lucked into a few of these!!
  16. I would make sense to keep them over the winter to poke those pesky coyotes in the arse.
  17. Brian I will try to email them to you. I am having some fun with the new MAC computer sending attachments. I have to convert them to PDF because I don't have Microsoft word. You could also just PM me your address and I will send the form letters via pony express.
  18. If you are looking for added depth it will be cheaper to invest in Mag Dipsys.
  19. First letters going out with morning mail to Gov. Cuomo, and US Senators Schumer + Gillibrand.
  20. Tim is there a minimum water temp requirement in order to take shipment?
  21. Panfisher, to get you up to speed go back to open discussion and scroll down to the thread titled Chinook Salmon "naturalized". http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/49744-chinook-salmon-naturalized-no-donations-please/
