  1. Exactly! I like simple.....that is why I didn't get the digitrol model. A simple machine that goes up and down. I don't think my center Big Jon Brute has a circuit board.
  2. I would like to add charging capability to my trolling motor. Specs are 9.9 Merc 4 stroke manual start. What do I need?
  3. I don't know Pap, I have a voltage meter at the helm and I have never detected low voltage issues.
  4. The Canadians are moving steelhead stocking to mostly Western ports of Lake Ontario because they are finding steelhead are breeding in tribs of the St. Lawrence River.
  5. Brand new power cords, brand new connections so neither case fits the failure.
  6. Make sure you get all the adhesive up as it might react with the paint you choose. Lots of elbow grease and acetone will do the job.
  7. Help me out here as I am not an electrician. Where is the capacitor placed? Between the rigger and the battery? I am wired direct to the battery. The capacitors I see available are for marine stereo applications. Wouldn't onboard chargers have a capacitor built in?
  8. So after contacting Cannon representative thru their customer service email service, the company is standing behind their less then adequate 3 month warranty. I have received no satisfaction from going down this path. Would anyone buy something if they thought it would last only 3 months? Inferior product, inferior warranty. I will look elsewhere when it comes time to buy new.
  9. Downrigger balls in all forms rarely spin but move in a "watch-wind" motion. Given there are two metals in the cable twisting back and forth over time, their dissimilar properties are probably changing at different rates over time. Just a guess.
  10. Too difficult to tell with leadcore. It won't be deeper by much...really a non-factor IMO.
  11. Thanks everyone .....for the enlightenment.
  12. Steve, I remember the process at the Pro/Ams. Different people in office, maybe we resubmit the findings? Cuomo is giving away Billions in incentives for businesses in NY (supposedly). Seems to me he ought to be interested in the well-being of the sport.
  13. If these meetings don't have a state representative then nothing will ever get done. A DEC employee will not want to complain, stomp their foot, or fight too hard for a good cause if their job is placed in jeopardy by doing so. I probably would be no different. I would want to protect my job to protect my family and my pension. We need to be speaking directly with state officials......esp. economic development people.
  14. Thanks Brian. So help me to understand what these meetings look like and what parties are represented. The Federation's reps, the DEC, and ..... Is there anyone from the state at these meetings or are we only talking to the DEC?
  15. Is there an advisory board for the DEC? In Canada they have a council made up of stakeholders who speak to the OMNR. I think we need representation between the state and DEC.
  16. Exactly! This is something the DEC can be held accountable. In years where there are plenty of returns, the biggest and brightest should be selected. This speaks to laziness more than anything. Once the three and four year old spawning genetics are gone........their gone for good.
  17. The lower river looks mint for all you drifters. http://www.webcamgalore.com/EN/webcam/USA/Youngstown-New-York/18879.html
  18. These are nice look at with all the pretty colors. http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/greatlakes/lakeontario_cdrom/images/a1_lg.jpg
  19. If everyone brought a space heater down to the lake....
  20. Another good shot from two days ago. You can see ice is still building and will continue because the St. Lawrence does not open to shipping until AT LEAST March 25th and may be longer due to ice and weather. If the ice is backed up all the way to the seaway and the ice cutters don't start breaking it up, Sodus to Mexico ice is not going anywhere and will continue to grow as the loose pack ice keeps coming in. YUK!
  21. Why don't the DEC just ask for help? Among all the stakeholders on Lake Ontario there are many business owners with hard assets (equipment) to get work done. There aren't people around to replace a roof on the hatchery??? ASK FOR HELP!!!!! It drives me crazy to think a roof has been leaking at the hatchery for 30 years and nobody has done anything. I am sure there are members on LOU that have bulldozers, drilling equipment, and the will do the volunteer work necessary. We could have a tournament to reimburse fuel costs for equipment used by volunteers. Think outside the box!
  22. Sorry for your loss. Best cure is a puppy come spring.
