  1. This may contain more micromanagement than you wanted but I use 19 strand torpedo wire on my high divers because it is thicker increasing resistance therefore separation from my low divers which has 7 strand wire. I have tried all brands out there and the softest wire I have found is Malin but the differences are minut.
  2. Hehehe. 10 color refers to using 10 colors of leadcore weighted line to get your bait down about 40'. 7 colors about 28' down. They do not refer to colors of lures. Our evolved fishing lingo is like a second language. Chicken wing is a black and orange pattern usually on a gold blank spoon. You are at the right place to ask questions. Oops I see someone beat me to it.
  3. Those deep marks could be lakers but just as likely kings coming out of their deep winter pattern. They can be maddening trying to get deep kings to bite as they feed in spurts. You could troll over them 10 times with nothing to show for it but on the 11th time some rods go off
  4. Wow I thought I have boat projects! Nice work Rod
  5. A peeping-Tom with binoculars......Yankee with the gf at the back door while fishing around the humps?? I thought this was a family-friendly site!
  6. Full moon I sleep in and target 10:00 am - 2:00 pm same as hunting whitetail bucks
  7. It is easy to drive over fish to find fish. There is a lot of bait already shallow in 30-50'.
  8. The skinny kings are most likely new arrivals from their deep winter haunts. They looked around and realized the bait has moved inshore. This is the time to cash in on hungry kings that have not seen a lure in months. Get out there!
  9. I would think these spoons combined with a single bait holder hook and tipped with a piece of nightcrawler, would catch Walleye on Erie.
  10. Coho bite has been "off" around Olcott this spring. I have been out 6 times this year and have caught one so far. I think this year class is the last year of reduced stocking due to "eye-up" egg issues at the Altmar hatchery so there may be less swimming around out there
  11. I tried something similar and saw too many fish come up and take a look and then fall away. I don't want fish to key on my balls at all so now I use a green color that matches water color.
  12. You can run those orange flashers and dodgers on leadcore with 2-5 colors probably about right.....or run them off mono rods with keel weights. Slider spoons in orange or blue/green colors work well. Think the top 20'.
  13. Derby time brings temptation. Every LOC I worry about my stuff as I have had three separate incidents with people helping themselves to my stuff during derby time. BTW my stolen motor was recovered and an arrest made. The person arrested was from Orleans county. I would make sure you file a report with Orleans County Sheriffs Dept. and your home town police dept. Supply them with a picture and serial numbers of the motor. Call Honda and have them list the serial number as stolen.
  14. Huh? The lake is alive and well. My suggestion is to book a charter and find out. The amount of species AND size found in Lake Ontario make it a WORLD CLASS FISHERY.
  15. Nice work. Are you adding a bottom coat?
  16. Hmmmm......I don't think they barge Kings out of harms way.
  17. Launch at Olcott and troll west until your arms get sore or your boat gets too slimy to fish safely....
  18. I am not sure why bending the tow arm up would help the board plane better? If the problem is the heavier junk lines pulls the rear down and the front up reducing planing drag then it would seem to me you would want to do move the front tow location down and forward to keep the nose in the water? I use otter boards and prior to buying the 1/2 keel, Big Jon told me if I move the tow line down lower on the board edge it would pull harder. I am not about to run out and buy some inlines to prove my point but it seems a little counterintuitive.
  19. There are a whole series of tweaks that will make the boards work better for salmon fishing. Go to Bloodruntackle.com and check out their blog on inline adjustments.
  20. Ah.....it been since the beginning of March that Lakerfest has been going on. Your late to the dance Brian! If the wind keeps blowing from the East it might be a year'long thing
  21. Yes, that is the radio transmitter for the Oswego Bull Shark.
  22. If you had line chaff, with a long run in shallow water you angle of the line was probably rubbing on mussels. If you hit a king in short water it is always a good move to have the driver head for deeper water as soon as possible
