  1. Awesome report Captain. Thanks for sharing your great pictures and advice on lure selection. You are always very helpful! Tight lines, Chris
  2. WTG Tomy - that's a great day. I'm glad the coho are schooling in the Rochester area, too. Good luck this year - be safe, Chris
  3. Bruce - thanks very much!!!! Be safe and I hope all is well Chris
  4. Awesome report Capt. Rick, Thanks so much for sharing. Good luck, Chris
  5. Steely - those old glow plugs keeping haunting me like a bad penny!!! I can't even give 'em away!!! Lol
  6. WTG Captain - I look forward to many more awesome reports!. Good luck and be safe, Chris
  7. Mayer's is shorter and 20 times worse with their dock that's only about 16' long. My boat is 22', so there's no way......I'm just going to wait it out. Thanks bud! Be safe this year, Chris
  8. WTG - awesome! Where did you launch from and how big is your boat? Thanks, Chris
  9. http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/data/dashboard/GLWLD.html The good news is the water level is just starting to turn the corner and rise.
  10. Whoa - that's low for sure. No way I can launch my boat with it that low. Thanks for posting, Chris
  11. Good luck! Post some pics!! I agree that the cockpit is tight, but I love the walk around feature for net storage and convenience with docking, cleaning, etc. Most of the time, we're hanging around the back of the boat anyway.....lol. Stay in touch, Chris
  12. Here's my rod holders and riggers on my 2152 on the port side. The SB side is identical: I have an HDS 8 and a subtroll mounted on my helm. I have the HDS on the standard mount from Lowrance (I did not mount it flush on the grey panel above the dashboard). The subtroll is mounted on the dash itself, just left of my wheel. My transducer is mounted at the water line, about a foot from the outdrive. Best boat I've ever owned. Yes, there are better boats, but it does the job for sure. Good luck - PM me if you have any other questions, Chris
  13. WTG - glad you got in and out safely. Glad you guys had some action and were able to dodge the debris in one piece! My best action has always been east, but I'm sure there's fish in there west of the pier as well. Loud colors seem to work best in that dirty water. Thanks for sharing your report and getting the juices flowing. Good luck this year, Chris
  14. This is a great post and can illustrate how the open water can change in a heartbeat. I was there WEdnesday afternoon and it was iced up
  15. My wife made this tonight. I googled "Mongolian beef" and used the second recipe on the page. One of the best venison dishes I've ever had. Thanks for the great idea!!
  16. Mad Perry - funny you should ask this question. I did the same thing yesterday and was near Mayer's (3/25/15) and there's still ice. Am I missing something, did something shift, what's the deal? Glad it's not just me! Chris
  17. Guys/gals, Much of the Lake Ontario water level is regulated by the Moses-Saunders Dam in the St. Lawrence. I'm sure we are close to the seasonal variation as referenced by Jason's post above. And although I have no idea how/when they start closing the dam to raise the water level in the spring, but it happens every year and levels go up in April and May. That being said, there must also be a heck of a lot of water still stored in all that ice which still has yet to fully melt on the Great Lakes. I know that there was some sort of proposal going around last year (possibly called Plan2014) which had some controversy regarding further regulatory issues on water levels - i.e. shoreline property owners were concerned that they would lose frontage to a rise in water levels. There are many moving parts with the water level, but I wouldn't get too nervous unless it's still way down in mid April. Chris

  19. Absolutely! Think outside the box and who the f cares what everybody else thinks! I can imagine the first time a Howie fly went in the water, people were probably thinking "who the heck is going to catch a salmon with that"......but it works!! Keep us posted if it works. As a side note, I'm going to experiment with much bigger Spin n glos this year for lake trout so we will see. I tied the harnesses with bigger trebles - 2/0. Good luck, Chris
  20. Many of these rhetorical questions are hard to answer as there's no right or wrong answer to this stuff. I tie my own tourney harnesses with #2 trebles so a 3/0 hook is certainly bigger. That being said I'm sure it would work. My guess is you are looking for 2/0 hooks per your post in the wanted section but saw the 3/0 hooks for sale and want to know if they would work. Why not? Try it - I'm sure you can't go wrong. Chris
  21. Good point - when I said "seatow" I didn't mean the company, just the act of towing your boat back to port.
