  1. 27s will not hold more than 6 colors w/ backing and that's pretty tight. I put my 10 & 12 on Okuma 45D reels which are a lot easier to reel than 47s. If I was to start from scratch I'd get the high speed version (might convert mine if I get ambitious enough). 2-3 colors, especially in shallow water, work better off big boards for me after that Church Walleye inlines work just as well though they don't pull 12 colors w/ a mag spoon out that far. If you run mutiple cores off inlines just remember to have the deepest lines next to the boat.
  2. Jim, I did best to the east between the first and 2cd bluff. The dock is not in.
  3. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):3/25 Time on Water:9-noon Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction:S changing to W Waves: o Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 10 Total Boated:7 Species Breakdown:Browns +? Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 1.9-2.3 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 6-15FOW Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got in some LO browns fishing this morning. Kinda of a damp, drizzle bound morning but the enclosure & a thermos of hot coffee kept the chill at bay. A mixture of cookie cutters and a few better fish all on blk/silver stix made for a lively morning that opened up with a triple after 45 minutes of nothing. Lost a real good fish that just wanted to go a bit further than a 17 had room for but a thrill none the less. A good start to the season ahead! -Andy
  4. These float setups are pretty simple to make with a high quality styrofoam 4" ball from a craft store. I painted the 3" one I use for browns black. If you run a long copper with a big flasher it will put a lot of drag on the line and can cause the 4"ball I use w/ coppers to slide some so make sure you use a 0R-18 release. Like Tim said this whole procedure works much better if you can get this rod up in the arch.-Andy
  5. Welcome to the LOU! -Andy
  6. Just tape it like the end of a hockey stick!
  7. My 15 year old son brought in a violent, nasty 35lb King during last fall's LOC and that fish will be our first one on the wall. It was the least I could do for not getting registered!
  8. Sounds like a good shakedown! Buckboard, I believe that's a Great Lake's Planer setup http://www.greatlakesplaners.com/
  9. A couple of fish dinners in the box and a gorgeous day on the water with friends-sounds pretty good to me!-Andy
  10. Nice pics Ray! Looks like an awesome way to spend the winter.-Andy
  11. We went to LP to launch but it looked like it was going to be too far down to get in the boat so we headed to Myers. We did wind up running up that way to fish and I could see trailers in the parking lot so evidently it's not impossible to launch there.
  12. I'm still in 'winter fishing' mode Scott, so we launched our 165 Alumacraft at Myers. Here's a couple observations I will share about launching at Myers yesterday; 1.Use the western most slot. 2. Keep your motor trimmed up and don't back up very far into the marina b4 turning to port to head out. 3.Stay trimmed up heading out, keep a sharp eye and stay more towards the wall. When you are coming in stay to port and just turn sharp at the dock, reverse a little and then ahead to tie up.-Andy
  13. Nice job Pete!
  14. Well, you can launch at Myers now. My son Elliot and I trolled the west side around T-Falls doing the boards thing in the fog and got a bunch of small LLs and BTs on everything we towed. Moved out to 60 to 100 FOW and got 1 decent salmon on a 4 color and a few lakers off the bottom.Time to head up to LO! -Andy
  15. Might try & fish out of LP this morning & see what's going on up north- will you let you know.
  16. Thanks for the post Bill. I'm thinking I'll launch out of Myers tomorrow! -Andy
  17. Good to see you got out Chris and thanks for the report.
  18. You can get 6 colors on a 47 w/ a pretty good shot of power pro backing but that is it.
  19. Had an enjoyable time on Seneca today. Trolled north and south from the plant to Glenora, and eventually accumulated a decent mix bag of lakers ,browns, and lls. Action was slow and spotty overall for us. Took silvers on blk/slvr stix and colored spoons on 2,4 and 6 colors off inlines. Lakers all came on the wires pulling ff combos. We caught fish from 10'-130 down over 80-240 FOW. -Andy
  20. Nice fish! Thanks for the report guys.
  21. Hang 10 for me Pete!
  22. Check with Muskybob on here. Besides his renowned Goby Guide service I understand he has some excellent Adirondack Goby recipes up his sleeve too. Any chance a guy could get one of those "Musky's Goby Guide Service" shirts?
