  1. Do not underestimate the fluorocarbon. Even for cod fishing at 300 feet down,my fluorocarbon leaders (everything else being equal) have better hookup rates than regular line
  2. Check if the salt water o/b has anodes and what state they are in and check if you can loosen up bolts on the block and whether there is white powdery stuff around the bolts. If things loosen up easily and there is no evidence of electrolysis/corrosion (if fresh and salt water look the same) you should be alright on both. Ask to see the driveshaft on the salt water o/b and check for pock marks . If everything looks good ,go for the engine you like best and don't worry about salt.
  3. Beautiful!! I never saw ice fishing catch and release before, thanks for caring for the future My ice fishing spot (I-Bay) is still good for canoe trips.
  4. I agree and disagree. Yes they are scum,a family of mentally sick and deranged scum. No they cannot be ignored, because allowing even one funeral to be disturbed by these sick creatures is one funeral too many.
  5. NRA supporter killer?....do you believe the NRA supports his type? Helps his type? Wants to let criminals run rampant with any firearm, or do they want the rest of us to have the freedom to choose our way of life in the face of a killer trying to change that? I do not believe that the NRA supports these killers. That's why I wrote NRA supporter killer, not NRA supported killer.
  6. Rigger placement is all about ease of use. If your gunnels are low relative to your deck, use the board. That way you will get to the rods faster and you don't have to bend over every time you grab a rod. If the gunnels are high already, there is no need to make them any higher. Also on smaller boats you want everything as close to the center as possible because the higher off center, the riggers will act like rudders and the boat will start to pivot around your rigger and specially your dipsy rod.
  7. Thank you Glenn. May you and your family have a happy and blessed Christmas and a great year to come. As for those three months,I remember pictures of Richard on your boat looking like an icicle. That surely must have been less than three months from new year.
  8. These volunteers came to help and found death instead. May their names and memory be blessed and never be forgotten.
  9. Longline ,I'm with you on this one. Guns may or may not be part of the solution, but they are certainly part of the problem. As for the cleaver attacks in China. Half a dozen attacks caused the death of 20 people. One attack with a gun caused the death 26 people. Should I explain how many deaths would have occurred if the cleaver guys would have had high power full automatics or even semi automatics? (the semis would probably have killed more). Anyway with our local NRA supporter killer in Webster removed ,I wish you a merry Christmas.
  10. There is a big article in the Sunday D&C about this stocking event in I-Bay.
  11. I saw some 2000 and 3000 pounders at Harbor freight for a pretty good price.
  12. Very sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you. Cornelis.
  13. Tim,this is not a discussion about the right to bear arms and I am sorry for allowing myself to be provoked into that direction. Just one final word. I fought in 3 wars and it has completely healed me from ever wanting to hold a gun again.
  14. Vince, your remark about always blaming the guns is not really on the mark. To blame the guns is wrong, but using every opportunity, even terrible ones like the one that just happened, to sell always more guns IS to blame. The NRA is a commercial organization with one purpose only, which is to sell guns. If anybody thinks that they need an M16 or an AK 47 to defend their home, they should join the army and go to Afghanistan for a while. that might change their point of view. As for video games, I think that those games are terrible ,mostly because they glorify killing.
  15. This would be the solution that the NRA would love to promote.
  16. You can try,but make sure you don't launch into shark infested waters.
  17. It makes you wonder why we spend trillions of dollars to "defend" our freedom 9 thousand miles from home, while we kill each other at home.
  18. " Eventually the forward force of the motor will push the piston in and it will be too far down again, pulling right." This should not happen unless your T&T is leaking oil or the seals in the pump or pistons allow the oil to stream back. My first suspect is the right hand piston. It sounds like there is something weird going on. Can you make a picture of your engine and the transom and post it?
  19. I have a set of bright yellow Michigan Stinger 10 pound pancakes. They don't work as good as torpedoes.
  20. For all you gefillte fish catchers, Happy Hanukka
  21. Yes, we must do something. This fall I lost a prop because of the water level in the channel out of I-Bay and with the winter storms carrying in more sand,it will just get worse.
  22. Maybe so,but you admitted that you fished Seth Green rigs before you ever found out about down riggers.
  23. 300 leadcore dragging a sawbelly.
  24. The balls will get you there, but it will be with a lot more blow back than the torpedoes.
