  1. Usually when you buy new bellows they come with a tube of glue . You are supposed to clean the area that the bellows slide over and are clamped down on. Once you have cleaned that area you smear the glue (it makes me think of inner tube patching glue) onto the bellows area that is going to touch the cleaned area and let it sit for about ten minutes. Then you slide the bellows in place and clamp them down. If you did not get the glue, then get it from your local marina.
  2. Same here. There are some Cohos out there now. Last year my last trip was after thanks giving. In 50 feet of water there were plenty lakers ,browns and a lot of smallmouth bass.
  3. Stinger Superman, Chicken Wing,KFC Special. Dreamweaver SS Orange crush, SS NBK and magnum Shiznitz.
  4. Thank you for your responses. It is not the Fat Nancy spoon, but it is the dream weaver that BrokeOff mentions in the thread he brings up. This spoon has been very successful for me this summer,up to the point where I became sort of attached to it. It is #1931 shiznitz
  5. I am looking for a very large dreamweaver spoon (magnum). It has a D and a W in black on a green back ground. I bought 2 of them last year and lost both of them last week. Does anybody know what they are called and where they are still for sale? thanks,Cornelis

  7. The Gennie has zero natural reproduction. The waterfalls are impossible to pass. But there are a lot of small creeks in the Greater Rochester area where i have witnessed salmon running up to spawn. King and Coho both mixed in with steelies and browns. Most local fly fisherman will know which creeks I am talking about. Let's leave these these fish in peace to do their thing so we can have better catches in the coming years.
  8. It is hard to understand why nobody is fishing these carp with big nets and make a fortune turning them into organic fertilizer.
  9. I fully agree. Some teams that participated in Oswego have already said that they will not be back next year.

    Gas???

I have run 87 octane ethanol gas in my 1986 75 horse merc for the last 5 years without ever a spot of trouble. If you trailer your boat you do not have the problem of a very humid environment. The hoses on your engine and the fuel lines from the tank to the engine are probably all alcohol resistant (A standard since 1992). if not, replace them(you should anyway). There are some rules for using ethanol containing gas. Always make sure that your tank is full (fuel up at the end of a trip) so there is no room for humid air in your tank. Also, every third tank dump some sea foam fuel stabilizer in your tank. It will stabilize the fuel, clean out your carburetors/injectors and it will remove carbon build up. All of this worked for me like a dream, but I have a metal 20 gallon tank. If you have a fiber glass tank (in some older boats),the alcohol may dissolve the seams and it will loosen up all the dirt in your tank. If you have six gallon tanks you can freely use ethanol containing fuel, just make sure not to let fuel sit in your tank for long times
  11. Sorry, you are barking up the wrong tree. The Asian carp is a matter that is in the hands of Illinois. It is not a federal matter and as such, the feds have very little authority. If you want to talk to the people stopping the closing of the canal in Chicago, you should talk to the big barge transport companies (you know who big business votes for). These companies could not care less about our precious ecosystem in the lakes. They care about money. Sorry but you are wrong to point your finger at Obama on this one.
  12. Heck,I too am proud to be an American and I don't believe in Jesus although you might consider me to be a relative of his. As for Romney for president. If it happens, it will be great for all you millionaires. As for the rest of us, we had better get ready to help you millionaires get a lot richer over our backs.
  13. Yes. I bought one online and then found them at Narby's in Oak Orchard for less than the online price. I changed the tips to twili tips and they are now my favorite dipsy and copper rods. I know that they are not very high end,but what they give me for less than $30 a piece is a lot of fishing rod per dollar paid
  14. I trolled Owasco lake last Saturday and Sunday. I mostly run one rigger at 70 and one at 90 with one 8 color and a 10 color leadcore off the boards. As always the best fishing for me is from the boy scout camp (eastside) north for about 2 miles on both sides and this goes on both sides and in the middle. the riggers got the lakers and the leadcore gets the browns. I zig zag a lot to get the leadcore to run faster than the rigger lines. Good luck
  15. Just post the model# and I can give you the year.
  16. Hello Nick. I have never heard of a 1979 engine with a VRO system. Are you sure that it is a 1979?? As for the cables,I think that the 1979 150 horse already has the newer generation of cables. Let me know what the cable ends look like and that will help. Cornelis.
  17. I have a one season old set of 16 foot remote control cables for Johnson /Evinrude engines from before 1979 in very good condition. At $40 + shipping if needed. Send me a PM if interested.
  18. Yes Nick it is, but that stuff seems to have a lot of additional magic, like loosening up stuck piston rings. You can pour some of it in a frozen block and 2 days later the pistons will move! Besides,it smells like something you find in a candy store. For your outboard I would suggest "Sea Foam" regular and "deep Creep" The regular you can add to your fuel and it will keep the carbs and the rings clean while it also stabilizes the fuel. the deep creep you can spray into your carbs for fogging and decarbing. Hell, why am I telling this to a diesel mechanic? You can probably teach me about it! Cornelis.
  19. If I could buy a 585 and stay under a thousand I would jump on it. The more realistic and best for your money is either a good used 582 or a new furuno 620 which is similar to the 582,but with a slightly smaller screen. Do not go cheap on the transducer,it is the most important part.
  20. There was no score board up when I was in the tent, but there were plenty of people with a full six fish box. The youth prize was won by a girl who reeled in a 27 pound plus king. What I like most about the East end triple crown fishing event is the family atmosphere with lots of attention paid to the young participants. One father and son team came late for weigh in, however the judges took one look at the son and instantly decided to be flexible with the rules because they felt that no kid should be left out and they did weigh the catch. (the team had only 2 fish) The general feeling in the tent is one of friends meeting each other while the competition is almost an afterthought. I will be there again next year.
  21. The Fish Hawk is great, but not as fast in information transfer as the sub troll. Both units are great and the fish hawk is a wee bit better, but you do get more product per dollar paid when you buy the sub troll.
  22. If you can find a Penn Yan that is 2000 or newer,I'd be in the market to buy it.
