  1. There is an enormous amount of that going on ,just not so much in the USA.
  2. The water in the Colorado river does not reach the sea anymore because it is used up by different interest groups. This has destroyed much of the fish breeding grounds in the Bay of California. The need for water in that area is forever growing and it is there that big commercial interests want to pipe Great Lakes water. Currently the inflow and outflow of the Great Lakes is well balanced, thanks to the 9 state Great Lakes Consortium which does a great job at protecting our water. but if water is going to get pumped away, the level will go down, much faster than you might think.
  3. I wish it was that simple. One question only, what happened to the Colorado river?
  4. What worries me is not the Texans migrating here. It is the big companies who are constantly trying to inch their way into control of our great resource. If we do not pay attention, they will start loading up tankers in the middle of the lake and sell the water to some desert oil countries , or try to lay a pipeline to Las Vegas so they can suck our water to the desert in order to maintain golf courses that should not be there in the first place. Both of these things have come up in discussions already and some big interests are trying to buy politicians to get that ball rolling.
  5. Find out where the guy lives or lived. If it is very close to the brine, chances are that it has been in salt water a lot. I would not worry too much about, but is a good reason to get price down by a hundred or 2. You must make sure that the lower unit is not leaking ,because salty water in the gear box is deadly.
  6. N42 47 684 W76 30 042. Go that spot and you will find out what I mean. Or if you want to stay closer to home,go to the tip of long point and take a bearing of 225 degrees true for 0.92 miles and, just as you come from 120 to 80 fow go in and out to 60 and back out to 80 (that often means a straight line as the depth goes in and out) while aiming south. That is a great just after sunrise spot when the lakers come back in from the central lake. If you want to go real deep after monsters, go from long point at 200 degrees and you will hit a hole that is about 180 feet deep .find them there and run over them with your leadcore and saw belly, then stop and allow the core to sink way down to close to the bottom and stop and go for a few seconds like that a few times. Good Luck.
  7. When you kill something with your car ,think of it as "fast food",that's what they call it in 315 country.
  8. Heck, I did not see you. I was out on Sunday and caught 2 browns and 5 lakers. If you have trouble fishing because of the wind, just go in the direction where the wind comes from. With a strong southern wind, fish the southern parts and when the wind comes from the north fish the north .that way the waves are easily managed. If you use lead core, try to get some saw bellies and drag them over the outcroppings. If you know where the launch is that connects to Scipio Center Road, you should go there and go up and down the outcropping just north of that launch. You will need a good depth finder because there is a hole just east of it that is 140 feet deep. Stay just west of that hole on the edge at about 50 to 80 feet and work 8 or 10 color core with a saw belly at +/_ 2mph .that usually gets the catch up to well over a dozen.
  9. I bet you that a male contact sport like football is very popular in the gay bay.
  10. Tonight is going to be below freezing. Now would be a very good time to drain that water out of your I/O
  11. I have been hosing myself by thinking that I know how to fix it, buying stuff that I did not need and braking stuff while making unnecessary repairs. Then I took it to Hank/L&M . He solved my problems and charged a very reasonable fee. Hauling my boat from Rochester to Port Bay was a very good investment!!
  12. Whether they are drum or disk,if they are hydraulic and activated by pressure from the hitch, they are surge brakes. Surge brakes do fine, but be careful when backing up. Some have a backup solenoid and you can back up without a worry, others don't and you will have to get out of your vehicle to neutralize your brakes. If you don't,they will lock up when you back up. This winter I will install electric brakes on my Islander trailer. Below here are the legal requirements for brakes on trailers in NY State New York 518-457-6195 http://www.dot.state.ny.us Brakes are required on trailers that weigh over 1000 lbs. / adequate brakes requires over 3000 lb GVW. Here is a website that shows the laws for all the different states: http://www.roadkingtrailers.com/brakelaws.htm Investing in trailer brakes when you trailer an Islander is really saving money because your vehicle brakes will have a very short life when they have to deal with an extra 3000 pounds in motion.
  13. I don't know about that one, if she moves she might capsize your rig
  14. Same here, but the sensitivity becomes less as you fish deeper and you cannot load up the rod as much as you can with a black.
  15. I did get some while trolling spin doctors and spoons at ship builders, but I cannot really imagine any bass fisherman trying to cast with a spinny in front of his jerk bait
  16. It think it is legal.Does anybody know whether using a cast net is legal in NY?
  17. That life jacket you wear turned out to be a very good investment. Until a few years back when we still fished in the outlet of the power station there were always a few people in waders who were swept away by the current. the ones without life jackets died.
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:none yet ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):!0-7 Time on Water:3 hours Weather/Temp:fair,fifties Wind Speed/Direction:almost due west Waves: about 2 feet Surface Temp:58 Location:east of I-Bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3 Total Boated:3 Species Breakdown:2 browns, one laker Hot Lure: superman scorpion, chicken wing Trolling Speed: 2.3-2.8 Down Speed: 2.3-2.6 Boat Depth: 30-60 Lure Depth: 30 and fifty ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Went out to check the engine repairs on the boat and dropped a few lines for the hell of it. Then I saw this rip line from the edge of the Genny. There were two. The inside one close to shore was over 20 feet, the outside one over 50. I fished the outside one and it yielded the above mentioned fish. The browns were in the 7 pound range ,the laker was a bit bigger ,but not by much. The one thing that was very big was a solid black rain cloud to the east that seemed to come closer all the time. The engine work was done by Hank (L&M) and it greatly improved the engine performance. It is a very good feeling to have somebody who really cares about his work, perform beyond expectation and it gives me a very safe feeling going out to the middle of big O with an engine that I can count on. 19. As of this morning (10-7) yes. Last year they left one in until thanks giving
  20. The thing I would really like in the AM section is a sort of festive gathering at the end of each tournament or day. In the current events many participants leave right away unless they are winners Let the prizes be medals for all I care, but let's have a very nice catered festive meal in a tent with possibly some camera footage of some of the boats or other entertainment. Some sort of stay together party at the end of the competition with people sharing their experiences. Kind of what you see in the Little salmon, Fairhaven and of course the Oswego Challenge. Those competitions are talked about because of the positive experience they provide and the tent is full with winners and non winners alike having a great time. Tom you obviously know how to organize the A-Tom-Mik Triple Crown. If that atmosphere can be created in the Pro-Ams it would be a great success. If not, maybe we should try to expand the triple crown with one 2 day event. That's what amateurs like!
  21. If Spoonfed did not say enough,I would like to add,Hank,Hank and Hank You will not be disappointed and he stands completely behind his work. He is located in Port Bay,which is about 5 miles north of Wolcot
  22. If you want to decarb you spray it in through the carburetor with the engine running until it stops running, then you let it sit for a few minutes and restart to clean the stuff out. If you want to winterize you spray some into the carbs and into the cylinders with the plugs out. then turn the engine over a few times so the seafoam gets into your crankcase. Then spray some more into your cylinders, put the plugs back in and let it sit like that until next spring. Of course you have to drain the carburetor and all the other winterizing things that need to be done.
  23. You can pour some regular seafoam into the fuel tank. If you spray it straight into the carbs, it will act as a fogger and it will do a serious decarbing job. Spray it in until the engine dies. Let it sit for five minutes and then start the engine again. It will smoke like you burn pure oil, but it will have done a great job. (make sure of the wind direction because of the smoke).
  24. Tilt that boat as far back end down as you can and connect a hose to your fuel line . Run that hose through the plug hole and suck on it. that should get the fuel to start running out. But because you have the tank tilted you will get most of the water out of the tank. Go with seafoam
