Yes. I bought one online and then found them at Narby's in Oak Orchard for less than the online price. I changed the tips to twili tips and they are now my favorite dipsy and copper rods. I know that they are not very high end,but what they give me for less than $30 a piece is a lot of fishing rod per dollar paid

I trolled Owasco lake last Saturday and Sunday. I mostly run one rigger at 70 and one at 90 with one 8 color and a 10 color leadcore off the boards. As always the best fishing for me is from the boy scout camp (eastside) north for about 2 miles on both sides and this goes on both sides and in the middle. the riggers got the lakers and the leadcore gets the browns. I zig zag a lot to get the leadcore to run faster than the rigger lines. Good luck

Hello Nick. I have never heard of a 1979 engine with a VRO system. Are you sure that it is a 1979?? As for the cables,I think that the 1979 150 horse already has the newer generation of cables. Let me know what the cable ends look like and that will help. Cornelis.

Yes Nick it is, but that stuff seems to have a lot of additional magic, like loosening up stuck piston rings.You can pour some of it in a frozen block and 2 days later the pistons will move! Besides,it smells like something you find in a candy store. For your outboard I would suggest "Sea Foam" regular and "deep Creep" The regular you can add to your fuel and it will keep the carbs and the rings clean while it also stabilizes the fuel. the deep creep you can spray into your carbs for fogging and decarbing. Hell, why am I telling this to a diesel mechanic? You can probably teach me about it! Cornelis.

If I could buy a 585 and stay under a thousand I would jump on it. The more realistic and best for your money is either a good used 582 or a new furuno 620 which is similar to the 582,but with a slightly smaller screen. Do not go cheap on the transducer,it is the most important part.

There was no score board up when I was in the tent, but there were plenty of people with a full six fish box. The youth prize was won by a girl who reeled in a 27 pound plus king. What I like most about the East end triple crown fishing event is the family atmosphere with lots of attention paid to the young participants. One father and son team came late for weigh in, however the judges took one look at the son and instantly decided to be flexible with the rules because they felt that no kid should be left out and they did weigh the catch. (the team had only 2 fish) The general feeling in the tent is one of friends meeting each other while the competition is almost an afterthought. I will be there again next year.

The Fish Hawk is great, but not as fast in information transfer as the sub troll. Both units are great and the fish hawk is a wee bit better, but you do get more product per dollar paid when you buy the sub troll.

If you can find a Penn Yan that is 2000 or newer,I'd be in the market to buy it.

My check came in about a week ago.

I fished for browns in 40 to 50 feet of water in October and November using 6 and 8 color leadcore and planer boards. In October there still are plenty of large ones out in the lake ,but as it gets into November,most of the larger ones go into the creeks to spawn and only the smaller ones (19/20 inches) are left in the lake. The fun thing is that the browns are in the same areas as the small mouth bass and often lakers as well, so there is plenty of action, while the water temps are down to 45/46 degrees.

All I said in this thread is that I do not think that Rochester is a very good fishing spot compared to either the oak or Mexico Bay. As an example I used a charter trip with Bruce. So it is my opinion about the Rochester fishing against yours. I have not said anything derogatory about anybody on the board. If you take it as a personal comment on your fishing skills then that is your opinion but not my facts.

Bruce, Last time I went out on a charter with you out of Rochester all we could get in over 8 hours was 1 salmon and 1 steelie. So no I am not impressed.

In my old carburetor car I used to adjust the jet needles a bit when going to a higher octane. Maybe you have to change to a different jet if your engine has fuel injection.

About better mileage. Right now 90% of your fuel is straight gas and 10% is ethanol. Ethanol,although it is a much higher octane, has only about 66% of the energy that regular gas has. The 10% ethanol has only about 2/3s the energy that straight fuel provides. So it boils down to 90% energy of straight gas and in addition 6.6% energy from ethanol, which together makes for 96.6% of the energy that 100% straight gas would provide. So yes by all means put straight gas in your boat,because of the water in the tank problems that ethanol may cause. It is however way more expensive to run straight gas in your car and you only get about 3.4% more energy.

Then why is it that I find myself running from Rochester to either Mexico Bay for the browns or the Oak for for everything else.I know that it is not for Michele's beautiful eyes or Fat Nancy's love handles.

In Pittsford (next to Rochester) just east of the R&R tracks they sell both 87 and 91 in pure form,lol. they do not sell ethanol mix there at all!

Chicken wing (SHCW) and KFC Special (SH212) both stingers,did very nice for me in the past few weeks, specially because these lures are not only great brown lures but they also attract kings and steelies.

YES! my brown stayed inside the first 20 of the LOC standings. At 15.8 at the boat and 15.01 at the weigh station 7 hours later, I thought she was in first place and kept her in the freezer for 3 days,but she really was 4th on June 23th when I caught her. But as such things happen,bigger and bigger fish were caught and she ended up in 15th place. This fish could only have been caught with the supportive coaching of the "Horsing Around" team members and the prize money will be donated straight into the fuel tank of "The Lead Sled" as Lou lovingly calls his fuel thirsty Penn Yan tunnel drive rig. But what do I do next? Do I have to call the LOC people, or do they just send the check in the mail? LOC people, our fuel tank needs you! Please tell me what do next. Respectfully,Cornelis.
