I would connect the kicker charger to the Perco and set it so it charges the battery that has all the auxiliary equipment such as downriggers and such,so that while it is using energy it also gets replenished. The main engine should have its own dedicated battery for starting and the main engine should charge both batteries while you are running that engine. That way you will always be able to start your main engine and your auxiliary deep cycle battery will get charged all the time you have an engine running. As for battery chargers, a small Sears trickle charger will perform very well,give a good warranty and costs less than most "marine " brands. Let's just say there are worse things to eat. On another note, bullhead and other types of catfish are very popular in our own USA and they eat the very same diet that carp eat

Very often,after the carp is caught,it is held in clean ponds and fed sweet corn for a week or so. This completely changes the flavor of the fish.

Growing up in Israel ,it was a very popular pond raised fish with a very high growth rate that would be prepared in many different ways,often pickled or ground fine so the small bones would not be an problem.Nowadays tilapia has taken its place,but in traditional jewish homes (the polish ones) it is still used (gefillte fisch),while far eastern people also eat it a lot as well.

There is also the legal aspect and the insurance coverage to think of. Never mind the cost of having to raise the sunken boat from the bottom and having to have it brought to port,which are things that you have to do by law. On another note, if you use a good pourable foam that produces closed cells, you don't have to use plastic to cover the bottom and you will have a much safer boat which is nice if you want to bring your wife and kids on board. for a trip.

Get the net and don't horse it in!! Last year we were in a 19 footer on Stellwagen Bank trying to get some Cod, but we got dogfish at every place we tried, so we decided to hunt for tuna. We saw some action on the surface and caught 2 footballs in the 80 pound range ,but as we were searching for more surfacing tuna,we ended up in a monster pod of Humpbacks feeding on sand eel. Every last whale in that pod was twice the size of our boat. It was a great and humbling experience being about 20 feet away and staring eye to eye with these great creatures. It was also very stupid to be that close. If one of them would have decided to breach he would have sunk our boat.

I am not so sure that alewives are a good food for a fish population that is supposed to do its own reproduction. I am not completely sure about this, but I remember reading something about alewives having a thiamine deficiency that inhibits reproduction in lakers when alewives are a main source of food. I wonder if it has the same effect on muskies.

I don't remember the name of the town,but it is near Perry and Castile.The town's claim to fame is the fact that they still have gas light street lamps. The carver guy sells his wares in a shop in that town. I just remembered the place. It is gaslight village in Wyoming,NY

Some things may help you prevent further deteriation. Things like disconnecting the battery while the boat is docked.Another thing is the power cable that goes to your boat while it is docked. That cable connects you with every other boat that is hooked up the the power system and if there is only one boat with a "leaking " power system,every other boat on that grid will have increased electrolysis,which is ionizing the metal that is connected in one way or another to the water. Gluvit stops the leaks ,but not the electric discharge which will go through your engine to the inside of the boat. the safest thing to do is to pull your boat out of the water and make sure that there are no electric currents however small, coursing through your boat. Something just crossed my mind. You mentioned earlier repairs. If the rivets used to do the repair are made of a material that has a different ionic charge compared to aluminum,they may be part of the reason for corrosion

I have never seen it happen in fresh water, but it does not have a Florida measurement sticker on it unless it was in Florida and probably in salt water. The usual way to prevent and stop corrosion is by attaching sacraficial anodes (a block of zinc) to the lower unit. This will pick up the electric charge from between the boat and the water, the anode will corrode to the point where it needs to be replaced. A complete layer of gluvit will stop the leaks,but you should first investigate whether any battery acid has ever been spilled on the inside and make sure to completely clean the inside, or the corrosion will just continue on the inside. The scariest one was on Cape Cod,coming back from Race Point to Pamet Harbor at eleven o'clock at night. As we turned south around the race we came out of the lee and into the outgoing tide with 8 footers behind it. My brother in law decided that he was going to take us in on GPS only.He totally ignored the 5 second delay factor. We were tossed about for the better part of an hour until i could not myself in anymore and suggested that he should look out of the window. Then we just started running the edge of the waves in a zig zag pattern which brought us in to the mouth of the Pamet River.

This was not the only earthquake in the neighborhood. There was another one that has been proven to be caused by tests concerning the storage of liquid natural gas (LNG) near Watkins glen. Now did you ever wonder why that was not much in the news and why you no longer hear anything about LNG storage near the Finger Lakes?
