  1. Niiiice! way to break in with the first post!
  2. Everything tbulhead said is rite on... If it's early spring. like late April or early May, and you are fishing about for anything that hits, the buster largemouths will absolutely tear up the crankbaits. Fat Raps, fished 4 to 10 ft down, Flat Raps near the surface, anything in that type will be readily taken by surprisingly really active largemouths almost anywhere around the bays in 5 to 15 or so fow. It would have to be catch and release for sure. You'll also pick up some nice pike along the way, and if really lucky, maybe an 'eye....Even in cold or inclimate weather, if you can find wind shelter between islands or any lee area.
  3. zaphod4.... lot's of folks say they are no good to eat, and some say they are. Same with some salmonids in the Big lakes (big O and Erie). I can't wait till I catch my next one incidentally while fishing for something else so's I can try 'em myself.... !
  4. Yeah, guff, u do get those fat jacks on the jigs in and around 50 fow or more with the same stuff u pick off the lakers with... Niiiiiiicce!
  5. Wow!! Was that catch in Canada at Bay of Quinte? Or in one of the bays in New York? Excellent catch of 'eyes
  6. Stinky Finger.... That's a great observation on the baby channels under the rocks. That is very different from what I have noticed about baby bullheads. which were not under rocks, but close to shore in large schools, like pollywogs.....
  7. Fish-on....A very nice article on the Greenland shark. with links. Thanks for sharing Muskybob,,,Ditto on the osmoreg article,,,,,
  8. Looks like a nice chunky, oh, about 7-8lb. pike, (depending on the size of the person the hand belongs to !) Guess I can gather from the shot background the Dewitt pond is a man made or highly altered natural piece of water. Looks like good accessibility for shore casting....with good fishing to boot!
  9. Thanx for the fallfish shot. Can't, however tell which is scarier.... the grip the guy's got on that sucker, or the eyes on the bloke himself! Looked like a lot of fun, for real !!!
  10. Thanks bandrus1. Good story. I just hope these new folks read the comments the buying public expressed such as below the article linked....so as to get a true idea of what folks want and then they can give it to them. This talks the talk.... and for the sake of New York jobs and "made in the USA", they must walk the walk. With great minds and work ethic here in NY, I know they can....!!
  11. Wow! saved a couple of swimmers in rough waters.... Do they always swim out into the lake in low weather? Could have saved the police a tough day.... and a couple of lives, too. Good deal people!!!
  12. Looks like one of those football browns out of Ontario...Also like pictures (never saw one myself) of Kamploops rainbows out in Idaho....Niiiceee!!! That's a wall hanger at THAT weight!!
  13. Sounds like U guys really were doing some huffin' .....Good that U were able to squeeze in the fishing amid the hiking and canoeing! Looks like a blast with some decent weather, too. Some good shots (post some of those chub shots if U R able).
  14. Hey... I'm no crackhead and I shop Walmart! Usually not for fishing equipment, but I do "cherry pick" with all of my retail shopping and sometimes they have good deals on some clearance stuff and Rapalas and small things like that.. But, I digress... That is really too bad about the equipment. I have had fishing stuff ripped off more than once in completely different scenarios. Just don't leave stuff laying out around too much... Even in the "nicest" and most seemingly trusting situations U can get ripped from. This brings to mind the thread a few months back from "bigdaddio" getting ripped for his scout's fishing gear up in Jefferson County....He was ready to throw all of the county overboard on the issue....It is material stuff, however. Hope U can get it back , or some due justice comes to the thief or thieves !
  15. Why, oh whyyy! And what is a Devil's horse? And is Dewitt pond one of those in the southeasst side of the city by Cedar and the railroad tracks?
  16. Last year it was talk of maybe a fifty pounder......! Remember?
  17. MUSKY SIZED.....B I G....!! U can pick up small fish (in between everything else; mostly bass) with what U have, but don't take it from me. Not a dedicated muskie chaser.... But I DO enjoy all types of fishing, for all types of fish ! And seriously, most of my time at Chautauqua has been in the spring. Never fished there in the hot season. And it is pretty good in the fall, too... Not much help, eh? Have seen HUGE MUSKIES (twice) swim directly under the boat there. With what looked like busted off lure scars around the mouth , they both looked like big, old, palooka boxers that were not afraid of anything or anyone in or on the lake... like they owned it and did not care what U might think or try! Love to try one of them on my line!! But, just from seeing them (4 years apart, both in May), I'd say U would need Big equipment just to get them interested....
  18. Nightcrawlers? They work well with the biggies in the bays and by the piers and jettys, like at Sodus Pt. Niiice! And no gobies?? Great, if not or very few. This is what many of the smallie guys want and have sort of given up on in the last few seasons or so....
  19. It's the Yuengling beer and vest they want....! Your HOT with the big bass, man!!
  20. ....Like jdm130 said.....Why have all of the diversity in one place? Tis what makes fishing in this state ssswweeeeet....! Go here, go there, great fishing just about every where!!
  21. Well, at least "they're" on it..... Wonder what it could B.... ....stay tuned.
  22. Suttons do work....and not just on Canandaigua! Good thing U had those along.....
  23. Gonefishing71....See the Panfish section of the forum for recent freshwater drum posting subject with numerous replies from LOU'rs ..... viewtopic.php?f=50&t=23798
  24. Just 2 let U and everyone else know (if anyone cares!), the state record Bowfin is 12lbs 14oz.....I'm just sayin.... And in Seneca Lake there does exist some perfect, what seems 2B a chain pickerel/northern pike cross; at least as far as outside markings indicate. Not any biological scaling, ray and pyloric count and whatever else biologists may use to determine fish crosses.....Fisherman21... don't know if hybrids and crosses might count in YOUR count...!
