  1. https://archive.macleans.ca/article/1952/7/1/the-doomed-lakes-lash-out Interesting magazine article from 1952 for any willing to take the time
  2. acid rain, purple loosestrife, coming ice age, killer bees, zebra mussels, quagga mussels, phragmites, global warming, commorants, giant hog weed, water levels find me something else to worry about. If you build on a flood plain guess what . You can only release so much water without flooding people downstream who also built on a flood plain. I understand some areas of Quebec where thy are tired of paying damages every few years are telling people they will buy their house so they can move and creating green space if they decide to stay in future they are on their own.
  3. Not that many years ago water levels on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay were so low that peoples docks and boathouses were many yards from the shoreline. It wasn't that many years ago scientists were predicting a coming ice age. I don't want to play poker with mother nature I wouldn't stand a chance. The farmer wants rain, the golfer wants sun, the sailor wants wind, I want a light breeze how does she decide who to please and who to disappoint. I'm just thankful for any day I can stand upright and roll with the punches.
  4. It's winter a cheap airbrush a couple jars of paint a jar of clearcoat and a bit of imagination. Pink with black dots eh gona try it
  5. So i've been using Alpena Diamonds in the spring for a few years now and doing reasonably well. I came late to the big pond after 35 years of muskie fishing so all lures were new to me. After watching a boat partner clean up with Alpena Diamonds I bought a bunch at used tackle sales most for about a buck. So far they are working and I thought they had been a good investment but now I hear some of you guys saying throw them away. . This dinosaur is still catching muskies on the same lure as he caught the first of well over a thousand on over 40 years ago..
  6. Seaway Locks Each lock is 233.5 metres long (766 feet), 24.4 metres wide (80 feet) and 9.1 metres deep (30 feet) over the sill. A lock fills with approximately 91 million litres of water (24 million gallons) in just 7 to 10 minutes. Getting through a lock takes about 45 minutes.
  7. That's why the 12 thousand footers have to stay on the upper lakes they can't get through the Welland canal at 740 feet.
  8. check out the Quinte board you should find several. There are hut rentals Dave Chatterton of Fishfinder Charters has huts in the Belleville Trenton area. There are guides that use portable huts and move around to put you on fish. Stacy Ash of Pro Tackle in Belleville is a good resource to get the latest info on the Bay. To my thinking there is an evening bite and a morning bite and is not somewhere I would want to sit in a hut all day.. http://forum2.quintefishing.com/index.php
  9. Your lying leader seems to be in love with the head commie
  10. Can I borrow those kids I want that kind of excitement in my boat. Well done Dad.
  11. Never was able to figure out why we drive on a Parkway and park in a Driveway.
  12. Take it to court and point out to the judge it's called a PARKWAY
  13. Wave predictions never seem to agree what I'm looking at on the water. I keep a chart in my head that tells me for different conditions that tells me when I can fish and when I should pray.
  14. Failing all else order direct from Mike Cain. At least check out his website.
  15. i own scottys and like them but they do seem to take up more real estate than cannons
  16. Anyone successfully using these. I bought 2 of these sets but my mounting hold down knobs are such a tight fit they will not go in far enough to tightly mount the downrigger.
  17. Loyalist Cove Marina at Bath Ontario
  18. Was told at the marina yesterday that they have purchased some sort of probe that they can walk the docks every morning and determine if any boats are leaking any stray current.
  19. I have a Starcraft Superfisherman ( they named the boat after me I think ) great deep and wide boat boat but the Fishmaster with the full height splashwell might be even better..
  20. So is the anode on the motor also protection for the boat? Can't say I've ever seen an anode on the boat. should I be leaving my lower unit in the water I've always tipped my motors so they didn't grow fur.
  21. MC Rockets work at times better than bait. I'm not convinced the tongue out of your sneakers wouldn't work and stand up better than bait. Freedom Lures makes a plastic cutbait in many colours and some friends did well with them last season( and loaded up on this year) something I will definitely try but really wish they had put a rattle in them
  22. Canada does not control water release, it's the Joint Commission and after they finish their joint they will consider the problem
  23. What's the displacement of a 20 pound king or laker could the problem be too many fish
  24. Rumor has it that the New York State and Province of Ontario governments are about to mandate the removal of all pleasure boats and commercial boats of less than 45 feet from Lake Ontario till July 15 2019. This should lower water levels 4 inches and lessen potential flooding. I'm starting this rumor pass it on
