  1. Was such a nice day, we dvr'd the bills game, and decided to go for a drive. We hit up lewiston and wanted to show the boy the launch and the area. Very nice place. Lots of history. And 10 year olds like that kinda stuff. Even the jet skiers were out. Go figure. Spoke briefly with Capt Jim Rores (big greek charters). He had a great day on the water. Beautiful out there.
  2. Nice day. Too windy. Anchor wouldnt hold and 2 drifts socks didnt matter much. Miller still has lots of shiners. And hanover launch open with 3 docks. Pretty lumpy. Still the boys enjoyed the day out. Plenty of perch in 59 to 61 straight out of harbor. I got gps coordinates if any brave souls wanna venture out.
  3. Haha, thanks guys. We are all set. Too tomorrow off and ready to roll. Will let you know how we do.
  4. Was thinking about taking the boat out on Friday. Boy is off from school. Think it worth a shot going off sunset. Wondering if a perch bite is still going on.
  5. Looking for a Maxxum 101 to get ready for spring jiggin. Hoping for the super long shaft, but may have to extend it anyway. Drop a note if you have something or hear anything.
  6. Is the boat harbor still open? thought the lady said oct 15th they close. Wanted to take the boy out this sunday if its nice. Maybe hanover.
  7. Was it me did I imagine seeing another 5 or so windmill bases being put up by the old one in hamburg?
  8. My luck has run out. Tough getting out the last few days, and even tougher still the next few. This is got the makings of good lake rise out here. Similar system hit the west side of erie and they had a lake draw of like 8 feet. The surge was pretty good on this end to. Anyone know of the water cfm gauge on Niagara. I bet that spikes big time. Neb vs Wisco tomorrow and Bills @ Cincy on sunday. good weekend.
  9. Stumbled on a few muskies myself, but none were wall worthy. Great looking fish. I didnt realize a virus wiped out a bunch of fish in 2005. And guys fish for muskis with downriggers? Wicked. Nice fish anyhow.
  10. I was sweatin the cooler temps rolling in. Think the fish are beginning to migrate west?
  11. Wow, sweet. i was just thinking about the perch. I figure with the cooler temps, things would start picking up. Nice work.
  12. Power pro may be the way to go. I have used the leadere in the past, but just not comfortable with it. My 10/2 smoke works great in dirty ass water like the illinois and mississippi, but doubt it would fly in the niagara. One rod one way, another rod the other. and we will see what shakes out of it.
  13. I have a couple of fellas I know out towards Green Bay and Sturgeon Point. The Quagga is brutal out in Lake Michigan. I hear the smell is something awful too. Some nice beaches were covered in that slimy smelly stuff.
  14. There may be multiple forces at work here. There will be some resident fish due the NRA stocking. But shorthanded has an excellent point and there are big pods of fish out there roaming ontario just like erie. Walleyes are known to travel long distances for spawn, but I dont think these are quinte fish. If you break down the lake in smaller pieces, it makes more sense. Quinte fish, Black Bay (henderson harbor) fish, southwest ontario. Then break down into smaller pods. Still great job by NRA and Rebs.
  15. Not used to the ultra clear at all. If I spool with 20lb Fireline Smoke, with a 5 foot leader of 12lb fluoro be good? I want strength and sensitivity. Or can I tie directly to my jig with no fluoro?
  16. You hit the nail on the head. I usually cook my salmon that way, but use the foil to avoid flame up. I grill it one of 3 ways. No marination needed. 1. Lather on the bbq sauce. Thats it. Tastes excellent. 2. Garlic, Pesto, and Olive oil. Its that tube stuff they sell in the refrigerated veggie section. Excellent. 3. maple syrup and soy. Baste it on, then on the grill. All excellent.
  17. Yeah, I caught up with rebs yesterday. He had a terrific outing. Blast away, there are geese everywhere!
  18. Finally, a saturday and the boy doesnt have football (tomorrow). Decent to do the usual. Grab the crawlers, stop at timmys for a coffee, sandwich and donut and hit the SBH Buffalo. Great day to be out, and as always fun time with the boy. We started with meat right away. Hit that canadian hump (just inside the line) and started moving rods. Biggest was 6.1 lbs. A good fish for the boy. I had to "refresh" his memory of running of running meat and snaps. But he got the hang of it pretty good. He got his PB sheepshead. What a goat. About 8 lbs. Nasty looking. We moved back into the US, and ran our 3 to a side, 6 wide program. Still running meat. Picked up a few more. Off the water by noon, and on to dugs dive for a bit of lunch. Tried raising rebs and shorthanded on the radio, but no luck. Did see DNR out. They did check us. They didnt see the life jacket on the boy and inquired. We were good to go. Bass were snapping on seneca shoals, but alas, its bass. Ugly green fish. Great morning. Taking a nap to root for the cat-licks in tonights beeeeeg game. Go ND! Came on a triple d, 2 bladed orange willow, with 2oz snapweight 30 back (snap at 20), at 1.1MPH, in 44 FOW. When I loaded this pic, I found anonther funny one. The boy when he was 2 and last fall at bay of quinte. He turned out good! We like to call it before and after walleye!
  19. Nonsense, did fine on crankbaits last week.
  20. Well the weatherman was wrong, and this time I was on the right side of the bet. rain and wind expected, so brought the boat to work anyway. What the heck, I says. It was a bit windy, but then calmed own some. No rain, and only 2 rig in the lot. Ran to my hump off the canadian line. 1st pass, with reefies and snap weights, nothing. 2nd pass with TT and snaps, nothing. 3rd pass with renoskys and snaps, nothing. 4th pass, slow with snaps and meat. SUCCESS! Boated 1 (3lber), lost one at the boat, and had 2 great rips. Off the water by 630. Should have stuck with meat the whole time. 5 color took some shots. Coloradoes with yellow/gold beads and chart backs.
  21. The niagara is just like the detroit river I figure. Whippin would be a good idea. I bet upper and lower would be good too.
  22. This looks like a job for .......Capitan Weagle! Giddy up.
  23. You nailed it guy. Another month and we give it a shot!
  24. Wondering if any handliners are around? I want to give the niagara river a shot.
  25. yep, with wire, its around 3 to 1. Pretty good vicinity like said earlier. 90 feet out, 30 feet down.
