  1. you'll get a lot of different answers, all of them correct. depends on the individual and the way they fish. last year at this time we were nailing them on kvd square bill 1.5's in a bluegill pattern especially, ran in the shallows and along ledges. crawfish imitating jigs and wacky rigged senko's/trick worms/etc worked off ledges. a daredevil spoon also netted some BIG pike and smallies. I bet the water is really flowing up there this year with all this rain!
  2. are you using cut bait and drifting or trolling lures? how far up the river?
  3. my 2nd run out this year netted me 2 Lakers and 2 browns solo. The 2 lakers were a double, but completely manageable because they don't put up a fight until they are in sight of the boat. All in the 7-10lb range. no cookie cutters this trip. all stick baits. firetiger, pearl of moon, red/yellow/blue w/rattles, just didn't matter. but, all the action just outside of the bay tonight.
  4. Anyone considering a run out of Rochester tomorrow? Drove by the ibay launch this AM and saw a single trailer. I don't think that boat went out into the lake. If I don't make it out tomorrow, I won't for 2 more weeks. Really late start for me...
  5. i went through the sadness of winterizing yesterday evening and this evening. seems like forever until march...
  6. it wouldn't matter if they left any more of the floating docks in. because the lake level is so low, you have to back up much further to get the boat off the trailer. the concrete ramp only goes as far as the last floating dock, before it drops off. i couldnt launch from there safely this morning.
  7. wanted to take advantage of a nice day to burn the rest of the gas in the tank. tried to launch at ibay but the level was too low at the launch and i didn't want to damage anything so i went to the river. not much better, but i was able to get out. didn't catch a stinking thing in the lake. not a hit, nothing. spent all day perch fishing in the bay. perch bite was on fire and a lot of boats out.
  8. docks were still in yesterday. tried trolling from the launch to the north end, then south again. caught lots of weeds. very difficult trolling outside of 30-25 fow. that lake rises and falls in depth so sharply in places. very difficult and frustrating unless you know the lake. navionics is NOT accurate
  9. WTG on the steelies! and thanks for the report. maybe i won't put the boat away just yet.

Waves: around 1 Surface Temp: 65 Location: NE of the river LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: Coho! Hot Lure: Challenger deep diver stickbait Trolling Speed: 2.0-2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 13-35 Lure Depth: 10-25 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== i had no idea what it was until my father in law told me, but i first thought it was a tornado and was ready to cut the lines and run. this waterspout was coming right at us as we were working our way out to the east of the river, and then it just broke up. below is a pic. we boated the first coho of the year on my boat and I was happy for him to be the one to catch it. myself, i've never caught a mature coho in the fall. beautifull fish. caught on a flatlined green challenger deep diver stickbait. as we were headed out of the river this morning, we had a hard rip on a stinger mag NBK, but no one home when i got to the pole. i think we should have stuck to the river.
  11. i remember hearing of the occasional tiger being caught through the ice in oneida, but that they were no longer being put in the lake? but this fish...astonishing, unbelievable, fake? that fish is OBSCENE
  12. can't say exactly out of the river, but out of ibay northeast we came across stacks of staging kings and browns in 80-90 fow. we didn't entice a ton of them, but the ones that did hit were after a mag stinger NBK almost exclusively. that was tonight 8/29. they didn't turn on real good until 7pm.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/16/12 Time on Water: 5-7:30pm Weather/Temp: 79ish, light wind Wind Speed/Direction: s/sw Waves: less than 1 and just right Surface Temp: 74-75 Location: n/nw of the bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated: 3 Species Breakdown: King and 2 browns Hot Lure: green dot nuclear spin doctor with matching atommik fly Trolling Speed: 2.2-3.2 Down Speed: don't know, debating fish hawk or sub troll to buy Boat Depth: 115-175 Lure Depth: 100-50 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Had to put Momay's name in there to give credit where credit is due. I haven't been able to get out in about 3 weeks because of a dead boat and it's been killing me. his reports have got me through, so to speak, and the latest one was spot on. noticed a few other boats out in that area so there must be a few people reading his reports . got a new boat that has been great so far. this was my first crack at lake O since I got it and rigged it up. was solo tonight because buddies too busy. wasted too much time setting up with false trips on the riggers. when i finally had it all set up, had a mag dipsy with 20lb mono 200ft with spin doc 42nd and atommik matching fly, rigger at 90(dw wonderbread spoon and dw ss 42nd spoon cheater), and rigger at 100(NK mag NBK and NK black/purple spoon cheater). trolled from 115 out to 140 and started marking bait schooled up in a number of areas. first hit was on the NBK spoon but no one home. set up again and the cheater DW SS 42nd nabbed me a nice 25lb male king. this king took me a good 20 mins to get in. as soon as i had him netted, the dipsy rod fired and i pulled in a thumper 10lb brown. a few minutes to breath and reset, and the dipsy rod fired again with a 5lb brown. not incredible numbers, but i had so much fun tonight. became obvious that i need to replace my 10 lb balls with 12's for my riggers and i need to consider switching over to wire for the dipsies. depth is a bit of a problem in august for me with my current gear.
  14. look at the belly on that pig! great catch. guess on weight?
  15. We've seen a sharp increase in the number of kings with their adipose fin. All of the ones we caught today had them. Are the hatcheries no longer clipping them or is there an upswing in natural breeding?
  16. You think its tail looks like that from using it to make the nest? I just figured it had an accident years ago and lost a small bit. Body on it was perfect otherwise and dark from being out in the sun a lot. [ Post made via Android ]
  17. took 36 years and FINALLY got a wall hanger! 5lbs 9oz on the digital and now in my freezer awaiting transport to the right taxidermist. I release ALL of my bass, but sorry, not this one. caught on a blue j-11 rapala jointed cranked slow near the top at 6:30am yesterday morning(4th of july). was a great topwater morning with buzzbaits and j-9's.
  18. a nice day on the big pond for sure! btw, are you guys out there kicking salmon and trout ass on a bass boat?!
  19. just a quick report. went 1 for 2. marks scattered all up and down the column from 80-210 fow. we were bored and dropped a Bomber saltwater magnum gold/black jointed 7 feet off a dipsy 70 feet down. it was the ONLY lure responsible for a catch last night! took a 12 lb king. the rear treble looked ridiculous in its mouth.

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 5/14/12 Time on Water: 5-7 Weather/Temp: 65 and partly cloudy/light fot Wind Speed/Direction: NE 3 mph Waves: 0 Surface Temp: 51-53 Location: N of the bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated: 2 Species Breakdown: King and a Laker Hot Lure: NK NBK Trolling Speed: 2.2-2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 75-135 Lure Depth: 50-90 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== went solo straight north of the bay outlet. started setting lines at 75 fow. got nailed 90 feet down by a king at 10 lbs on NK NBK off the rigger. set it up again and got a small 4lb laker on the same spoon at the same depth, almost immediately. then i couldn't get a hit, despite hitting an area at 120 feet that had marks from 50-120, and tons of them. kept circling but couldn't get a hit. nothing happening on leadcore with spoon, or dipsy with spin doctors and flies. got bored and went into the bay and caught bass.
  21. thanks for the report and keep them coming. we had no king sightings out of ibay this evening and marked nothing either. a few small browns.
  22. congrats to you! we made an evening run working the same depths but only managed laker after laker and 1 brown as we worked our way in. could not find those kings!
  23. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4/28 Time on Water: 6am-12 Weather/Temp: 30 in the am to 40+ Wind Speed/Direction: 5-10mph nw/ne Waves: 1-3 Surface Temp: 42-45 Location: NE of the bay(webster park) LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 16 Total Boated: 11 Species Breakdown: Kings, Lakers, Browns Hot Lure: natural born killer NK and bomber long A silver/blue Trolling Speed: 2.5 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 10-50 ft Lure Depth: 5-40 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== was going to be running by myself, but another guy had boat troubles at the launch so we paired up on my rig. a real enjoyable day despite the frost on the windshield to start out. Nothing in shallow out of the bay, so we went out and immediately got into Lakers. Boated 5, none exceeding 10 lbs. then the kings turned on, one beauty at 21 lbs. for about an hour or so following that we just kept getting short hits on the riggers and flatlining a deep diving crank. decided to head back along the shoreline and picked up 4 browns, one of which was the smallest brown i've ever seen in the lake, and the biggest about 8lbs. found a new fishing buddy and had a solid day fishing.
  24. i have been wondering where the coho's have been. last year it seemed like i had one every other trip. temperature should be good? i'll also say that this weekend was the best spring fishing i have experienced. in a 4 hr run solo on sunday i netted 6 browns, but lost a fat king at the boat and lost a leaping atlantic. those 2 really bummed me out. that atlantic was BIG and had easily a 4 foot leap out of the water twice. i realized after that i had been giggling like a little kid until it dropped. dropped a few other smaller fish but wasnt too upset.
