  1. Wow is this nice weather or what? I really want to take a couple days off from work and catch some fish. This weekend should be nice! I will have to see what they are calling for wave wise. On a side note I ran those homemeade boards in the tackle section and they worked great. They ran better upside down with the point in the water but seemed to do the trick.
  2. Another spot you could check are your livewell lines. I have seen those crack and leak.
  3. Depends on the amount of work it needs. Most wouldn't charge you more than $50-$75. If you want I can get you in touch with my buddy. He does metal fabricating for a living and is really reasonable.
  4. You can too pull the drain plugs on the motor. If you could pull the boat each time I would say gravity feed some of that RV eco friendly antifreeze into the motor just to be sure.
  5. Were any of you in the Nitro CC? They trolled in front of us for a little while. I also saw an islander that was out before us.
  6. Changed my original idea and I am going with a cooler seat that mounts to the floor infront of the frame. It will have the 2 livewells with a cusion for use a leaning post otherwise.
  7. Motor has extermly low hours ~5-10 hours. Long shaft 20" classified as an 8hp by Johnson. Model #J8RC1C. This motor is very clean and operates perfectly. Comes with 2nd prop. I would recommend a new impeller because it has sit for a while previous to me acquiring it. I can even purchase a new impeller and include with sale. It was purchased brand new by my grandfather in the 80's when he bought his boat. He used it once in Canada to troll for walleyes. I put it on my boat to see if it would push my boat but was too small and ran at too high of rpm for my liking. I would consider trades + my money for newer 4 stroke 10 hp. I would also consider delievering it for a small fee. I am looking for $750 firm. Thanks, Chas
  8. I have a 2 stroke 7.5hp Johnson that I am looking to get rid of. It is too small for my boat and has very low hours (~5-10.) my Grandfather bought it new and used it once before he sold his boat. I used it for 1 hour and it wouldn't puch my boat fast enough at a low enough rpm. Let me know if you are interested. It doesn't come with the can or stand but is in immaculate shape and very clean.
  9. We were out and did pretty well 15 out 17 were boated most 3-4 range with 2 that were 12lbs.+ We headed west and setup by the washed out bank. By the time we were in front of maxwell we had 3 already boated. Caught the larger ones a little deeper. Both took a good 25 mins to land. Most productive colors for us were silver black and gizzard shad (have to buy a couple more we snagged when running our boards in shallow.) Not too bad for not fishing the area in 10 years. I told the guys next time its $100/head. Forgot to take a picture with the other big one. Here is the other one. I didn't remember taking a picture of it. I'm the 2nd one in from the right.
  10. I bought a 23'er because I got a good deal on it and fish the lake often. I have been in smaller boats in the rougher water and like the stability of a larger boat. My father and I have been in 6'ers with his 16' starcraft not smart but when the lake picks up it happens. Having a bigger boat I can't fish smaller lakes as comfortably but make due. Also my dad's 16'er uses 1/4 the gas my boat does.
  11. I just checked and they are calling for more wind on Sunday (SW 10-15mph) now instead of Saturday (W 5-10mph). Sounds like its going to be a crap shoot.
  12. Actually the livewells do have corner radiuses. The larger livewell will be a e-bay buy but the smaller one will be a custom build' both of which will have radiuses. Actually under the seat I haven't entirely decided if I am going to go with another livewell or make it into the built in tackle storage or possibly store a cooler under it. Too many choices. I really like the idea of making it into tackle storage so I can eliminate my boxes and just have the slide in drawers depending on what I am fishing for.
  13. Good deal looking forward to seeing you all. I will be in a white pro-line 23' W/A no ship to shore tho....
  14. Thank you for your response. I do keep some but will limit it to the injuried and smaller ones for consumption. Lakers I have always thrown back but like to get a picture with a nice one. My first ever trolling experience I caught a 17lb. laker on my dad's downrigger pole. I was barely 6 years old and brought it in alone. I remember my father jumping up and down in the boat happier than anything. He didn't realize it was as big as it was until it was within a few feet of the boat. That is a memory I will never forget so its kind of in my blood haha.
  15. Here is a Photo of a livewell/seat I am making for my boat. All the ones I could find online were way outside of my budget. I am planning on 2 livewells 1 25 gallons and the other 8 gallons with drains at the rear to empty into the motor splash. It will be about 40" wide 36" tall and 36" deep. Let me know what you think.
  16. haha thanks guys. anyone else heading out on Sunday?
  17. I was wondering the same. I am soooo close to driving up and launch Sat afternoon and all of Sun.
  18. I just read the forecast for the lake this weekend and seems like it is going to be rough Saturday morning but in the afternoon it is supposed to be 2-3'ers think they are too big to fish? My boat can handle it but I want my baits in the water. Sunday is supposed to be the same but out of the West more.
  19. Ran into a snag with the rubber tubing/heat shrink. The diameter of my line is very thin and seems to slide out of the clips really easywith the rubber hose or heat shrink. 15lb. Mono would probably be ok but my 15lb. power pro braid slips right out with barely any tension.
  20. I makes me want to throw more back. Now which would be better to keep the larger trout or smaller ones? I think the smaller ones taste better.
  21. What are you planning to fish for? I would consider the distance it is to each. Personally I would go with the closest marina unless you have to drive long distances in the boat to get closer to the fishing. Will the boat being closer to the fishing save you enough in boat fuel to offset the cost of the slip? Figured I would put a couple of suggestions out there if you haven't thought of them yet.
  22. Ok thanks I looked last night and it looked like it was open all year with minimum of 15"
  23. So my buddy has been arguing with me that brown trout are not open. If I am not mistaken according to DEC it states that it is open year round minimum of 12". I might be reading the table wrong but could someone help me out?
