  1. I do the same with the swim noodles but I use a V shaped nail, like you would use to hold wire fence to a wooden structure. They are galvanized and about 3/4" they work sweet. I also cut the noodle at 12"s and use a 1/2" wooden dowel rod cut at 14"s and push it through the center of the noodle so about 1" sticks out then I load them up with spoons I can get 10 in a row with the 2 barbs into the noodle and 1 stiking out then load the opposite side. I have U shaped holders that take two screws to fasten them, 1 for each side of the noodle, and have them mounted in the cuddy. They stay in place nicely and I use the same type holders in the back of the boat, so all I have to do is grab a noodle with the colors I want to use and hang them where we can get them. I have them organized in color and size, the same with my worm harnesses, color and length the harnesses is where I use the V nails I use 3, 1 through the swivel and 1 in the center once I have it all wrapped up and 1 through the loop on the end to hold them tight on the noodle. I think the noodles work better than anything I ever tried and where can you find something that holds 20 spoons in 12"s and another good thing about the noodles is your lures dry, not in a box were they hold moisture and rust. Try it and see if you like it, one thing I noticed is the $1.00 noodles at the Dollar store don't hold up as good as the $3.00 ones do, get the ones that are smooth, like. The ones that feel ruff like, styrofoam don't work sa well, at least for me anyway, and for $3.00 you get 5 or 6 holders, they are usually 6 ft in length. Have fun and tight lines to all PAP.

    On FIRE!

I'd go on the charter just for an education personally!!! Oh buy the way excellent job!!!!
  3. Yee god that had to hurt, how many stitches LOL.
  4. Although the fish weren't to aggressive, the boat running smooth and a easy load up sometimes makes up for the fish not wanting to cooperate, any day on the water is a good day. May the fishing be better for you next time!! PAP
  5. Excellent job guys, I know it's a grind to get to the lake, but LakeO is so worth the ride!!! I don't know of another lake in the country that has the (quality) of fish in it. Once I get my boat up there, I make the 4.5 hr. run Fri. Night and leave Sunday around 2 pm do the male thing SSS and hit the rack and then wish the week away so I can do it all over again. Glad to hear you had a blast along with some nice fish. Be safe and tight lines to all. PAP.
  6. I personally believe that all the huge parking lots, take for instance by us which used to be a huge farm is now a Home Depot, Sams Club Mcy D's another words 75 Acres of land is all black top, and now some locals are having to drill there wells deeper. They claim its from the run off of the hard surface instead of the water seeping into the ground. I have a black top drive way and can say that it holds the heat a lot. On a warm day even after the sun goes down, 10:00 pm it's still warm.
  7. Congrats to you and your youngster crew, man they laid the smack down on OL' Marble eye. Great to see the kids with a catch of a life time!!
  8. What's happening out of Henderson, we can't do face book as my wife is a school teacher and that's one of the corks of being a teacher, to much info not to be had by others, that's all I can say, but Henderson in my favorite harbor other than Chaumont. Thanks guys, PAP
  9. I also just purchased a Elite 7 hdi. Cabelas knocked $100.00 off and a $100.00 Mail in rebate also they did not have anymore with the screen saver and ones with the chip in it so they knocked another $100 off. So I ended up Pay $529.00 for the unit but I still need a chip. I was thinking about the Northeast chip in the premium as I was told the platinum one won't work in the Elite on the account of the 3 D overlay, need the HDS units to run the platinum card. If anyone knows of a better chip I would like to hear any opinions as I haven't purchased a chip yet. Thanks pap. I didn't mean to hi jack your post, maybe we both could learn something here?
  10. Nice going Fishon, glad to see the kids taking a look at a very impressive walleye, all in all looks and sounds like you had a good trip!!
  11. YOU KNOW, 2 or 3 years ago I did the bellows on my uncle's boat which I did about 3 years prier because he was complaining about water in the bilge area every time he pulled the plug, about a gallon or so comes out he claims. I did notice this weird star shaped mark in the shift cable bellow and couldn't place were I saw this before, and now that the above post mentions a screwdriver I now know the mark, it was a small Phillips screw driver. His boat sat what we call on line, over against a bank out of the way, where everyone is supposed to put their boat when not using it. The kicker to this story is, there was supposed to be a traveling mechanic who posted a card on just about everyone's door in the campground. I guess he was just trying to drum up some business, even left business cards in the office of the campground. Thanks for the above post were the screwdriver was mentioned, this all makes sence now after 3 years later, and no troubles since, and he's gone also, Bastard, PAP.
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm sorry I didn't respond back sooner, getting close to the finishing up of the boat, and forgot about my question, so it's raining again and I'm back to the tackle end of things and this jogged my brain about the eyes. So I'm going to continue to put my eyes on and on some of my doubles I will put the eyes on the back and on the other I will put the eye on the front and see which produces better. Thanks again PAP
  13. That sounds like a bellow come off if there was a hose clamp there, they are a bittch to do and a lot of guys think they got it on right, but not, if doing it yourself make sure no one is around that doesn't like the F word you will use it a few times with some blood shed, but it can be done I did all of mine and I have the early Alfa unit, with what you said 3" in dia. It sounds like the exhaust bellow come off. They kind of snap into place and they claim they want you to use a adhesive and a clamp to make sure they don't pop off, if the inner part of the bellow is installed to far onto the inner flange it will make the bellow to short out at the exhaust exit point might have to loosen the inner clamp and rotate the bellow and pull on it at the same time until you are up against the flange that holds the bellow onto the inner part, I leave the clamps a little loose till I have both on it will make a little dull pop sound when it is in place correctly. I don't use the adhesive but would recommend using it if its your first go around. Tighten up clamps if you arrange the clamps correctly you should be able to use a 1/4" drive with a long extension and a 5/16" socket or a long flat screwdriver. When finished raise and lower unit a few times to make sure all is well. Good luck PAP.
  14. Great going Justin, within the next week or two we will be making the journey north, maybe we could make the trip down and go out with you. See what goes on first PAP.
  15. I couldn't agree more with the post given by Gator. My family was a big military family and those that have fallen to WWll and the Korean war and some have lost there life to the Vietnam WAR (not the conflict) like the state of PA. likes to state it on the license plates Also my condolences go out to those families who lost son's and daughters to the more recent wars fought over abroad. If you see a American Flag today remove your hat and show your appreciation to those that helped make this the greatest country in the world. Every time you get the notion to just jump in your boat and take a person fishing remember these where the folks that made this possible. WE are FREE and that's what all this warfare was for. Thanks to all, and have a wonderful day PAP.
  16. I'm soo glad it works for you, YOU know why you love it , you did it yourself. And there's. no better feeling (quote&unquote) then doing something you wanted to do for so long, and now you did it,chopped into your own steering and plumbed your own system and the satisfaction of standing Back and watch it work like its supposed to congrats to you I hope you enjoy ever minute of it. Just watch out for me LOL
  17. I recently purchased spoons from a very nice member of the LOU site, and I read that some say that putting eyes on spoons is supposed to help, so I purchased these eyes that really look like the real deal, so I opened the package and put a few on and was impressed as they are clear like and look like the real deal was really pleased with them UNTILL I realized they are raised a tad, does anyone think this will effect the action of the spoon or am I thinking to deep into this theory. Any comment will be appreciated. Thanks PAP.
  18. Yea, if it wasn't for Bob's Boy posts I don't think I would of made it through the summer, as I was recooperating from a major back surgery, and with his on the scene at the scene vids, and posts he makes you feel as if your right there with him. OOh and don't forget about his wife, she is right there with the boys and as good as the guys also I might add. Can't wait till he returns, usually not till the salmon are in hot and heavy. Tight lines to all PAP.
  19. Very nice FleetTracker, looks very organized and clean as a whistle, I realize when it's hot and heavy things get disarray, it's a lot of work but looks like you nailed it both with the boat and the eyes, best of luck to you till we meet which will be soon, I finished up hooking up my electronics to day and tomorrow it goes to get lettered up 1 WORM, and hopfully Brad has my light/ rocket bar finished then all I need to do is run my wires for my lights and RT81 north bound!!!! Your friend PAP.
  20. I would set the gap at .030 and run the motor awhile then pull the plug and see what it looks like, if its still $hitty looking put the plug somewhere where you can see it when turning the motor over and observe the color of the spark should be bright blue, if yellow then maybe time to replace wires, or at least that one, could be rubbed through and grounding out elsewhere. To do an easy check take the motor cover off at night and fire her up if you see any arching time to change all the wires, try to keep them from lying against anything metal, use zip ties or a plug wire loom to keep them away from each other and lying against anything metal, if still finding a crappy plug you could do a compression check and see if that cylinder is down, all though if a oil ring collapsed it won't show up on a compression check, sometimes they get hung up in the piston, try some SeaFoam in the oil, follow the instructions on the bottle. This did the trick on a old 140hp mercruiser I had, with similar problems, I doubt it's a valve problem or you would have back firming through the carb. Hope this helps and keep us posted. PAP
  21. From what JT has said and the one dark picture, is on reason I want Brad to make my light bar, I remember my cuisin and I trolling at night out of a 14 fter and litterly dragging lures over rocks and limiting out on walleye in a few hours and we never used to lock the motor in so it could glide over the rocks, most of the time we were in 5 ft of water and the inside lines were as shallow as we could get them. Also when the weeds start to grow over on the mud flat just inside the bay is another good place if the wind was coming out if the southwest most of the day or should I say at least till sundown, we caught a lot of eyes there also. The Black River is known to give up a few nice size eyes at night if you know the river, you don't need to troll all the way to the bridge but its a good idea to hug the outer bank through the turn and be sure to go under the willow tree, then follow the break on the right side going down till the 3 buoys where the island used to be. Now if you don't have 3 eyes over 18" head in there not going to play tonight!!!! This is my night plan for this year, but you guys that camp in the BRCG give this a try or anyone else. PAP.
  22. I'm only going for the week end, going down to see how Justin's going about it and mayb take some of his otisco walleye back up to Dexter to finish out a fishing packed trip.
  23. When I take my twin daughters out with me I put their life jackets on which are designed to roll them face up should something tragic happen, I also have high gunwales, when they are roaming around the back or fighting a fish I tether them to a cleat with a 6ft safety rope, I couldn't imagine losing one of my girls doing something I love to do. They complain, but it's dads boat and his rules if you want to go fishing or go for a ride. Sorry to hear such a terrible happening. My heart goes out to the family.
  24. I use jet divers and 3 per side my outside one I run a 20 the middle I run a 40 and the inside one I run a 50, I have homemade double boards and they pull sweet they make a jerking motion when trolling and I think this stop for a split second and go triggers strikes, just my opinion but yes it's doable and it works as you are covering a lot of the water colum. I have pulled dipsy s also, and have run spinners and flies off the jets with success they work and as mentioned above I use braided line also, power pro 50# braid at 8# diameter you will achieve greater depths with less line out.
  25. I am down to the finals guys, and yes Walleye Magic I will be bringing it to the camp, I don't think it will be this month anymore as I will be installing the new electronics and would like for my cousin to make me a light bar for overhead lights. I would like to have 2 floods shinning down in the boat and one on each side to shine out on our boards and 2 or 3 facing forward. I had a lot of good fishing shallow sticks at night, my cousin and I used to troll down the north shore and we would catch some big girls after dark, we found that bright nights the 3 night before and the 3 nights after a full moon really produce some nice eyes. FleetTracker I have fished of the old girl and everything works super, I'm very pleased with my kicker mounted to the swim platform, it nice to hop out there to raise it up to truck it up to the next spot and then simply drop her in and fire er up and start trolling again. All this stuff takes time and with me being not 100% and not supposed to lift anything over10#s makes for a slow go for me, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, it won't be long now. I want to say thanks for keeping me in mine that's nice of you guys, are you guys going down to Otisco in July, if so that will be a blast. Till we meet tight lines to you guys!!PAP.
