  1. Excellent report Legacy!! I never actually saw a live alewives, wow they are big, no wonder those kings grow like weeds, and it gives one a idea of what and why certain colors work. Thanks for the picc.
  2. We used to go to Sandusky every year for years. The first time we went out we stayed in a condo. And the guy who had the condos also had a charter business so we booked a charter with him just to see how they do things out there. They like to drift with bottom bouncers and big gold bladed harnesses, I took my hand held GPS. We took our own boats also, which this guy we booked the trip with also had slips in a marina, so we had slips for our boats which were patrolled 24/7 very nice to know your stuff was safe. On our first charter we had our 6 man limit and the captains by 11:30 am and we booked it for the whole day, so we went for perch till finally we had enough, roughly 1:30 pm, and called it a day. The captain was really a cool guy and worked his a$$ off for us, he mentioned we were one of the best groups he ever took out, basically all he had to do was drive the boat we did the rest as we had no mate and didn't need one, back at the dock he wanted to clean our fish but we told him we are more than capable of doing that, he was floored!! Man if all my trips were like this with you guys he told us, we also wanted to tip him but he refused to take a tip on the account we where in early and wanted to clean our own fish, so we all put $20.00 in his glove box when he left the boat to talk to someone else and we took the fish box off the boat and grabbed the hose and bucket and mops and all 6 of us had his boat spic& span in no time. Left him $120.00 in the glove box and left. Later that week we got a call by this captain saying he would like to take us on a evening trip for free for doing his boat and leaving a tip beyond his expectations, he was so pleased with us. So we took him up on his offer and once again we nailed the eyes, we really didn't know what we were going to do with all the fish. It was a trip of a life time, every year we had a place to stay and excellent fishing. I would recommend anyone who loves to fish for eyes to make at least 1 trip to Erie in your life time you won't regret it one bit!! Since the price of fuel went up most of the guys I go with are older and can't afford the trip anymore plus we have a place in the Black River Camp Grounds which we all pitch in to help the cost of things at a comfortable rate for all of us which is 4 of us. Make the trip happen you won't regret it one bit!!! PAP.
  3. Excellent job guys!!! The hunt never ends for me, I will set up for eyes early thenfish nearby waters for the silver, hopfully with some gold in the box. Nice report gonna miss your eye reports. PAP.

    More crappies

That's one specie of fish I never caught, a crappie, my father and my uncle caught loads of them where the Perch River dumps into the Black River Bay, there used to be a huge weeping willow tree that hung over the water, very deep hole 30ft or more with 8ft all around, I used to call it the " who's hole" you never knew what was in the hole, one time smallies, the next catties, large mouth, what ever but every time I was with it wasn't crappie. Maybe this year LOL.
  6. That's good to hear, they were all tarnished up black, so I rubbed them with my finger and they shined up. The ones with the crinkle lower half, with a little silver polish shine so bright it's truly amazing, I know these babies will produce. At 4:33 am my wife asked what in the hell are you doing this early, I replied cleaning my new babies, I am very pleased with my purchases, plus glad to hear they are good ones. Thanks LES!! OH she also said why can't you clean the dishes that early!! OOH We'll it's called priorities right guy LOL tite lines to all.
  7. AWSOME PIC. Yea the fish is nice! LOL. PAP. You are a lucky man, to have the best of both worlds!! She is a keeper.
  8. At a yard sale I stopped at I saw these spoons, called Miller Flutter Lite, made in Hamburg NY. The guy wanted $ 1.00 a piece. He had 10 of them ranging from size 00, 01,7, some smaller, some brass back. Is anyone familar with this spoon. They look awsome and really shine. Oh I got him down to $ 6.00 LOL. Thanks for any input. PAP
  9. I have the Blacks at the bottom and for fixed sliders, just jam a tooth pick in at desired depth, I set them at 3#s works sweet for me, and for walleye I use a half hitch to the Blacks, and also my cores, that way I can spool a full 10 colors on a reel and use a half hitch at what ever amount of lead core I want. Eliminates having a half dozen rods for just lead cores. Wise man taught me that trick LOL.
  10. What happens to all this debris? Does it make its way to shore or sink making for snags everywhere? Just curious, PAP. PS. Nice to see 8 out of the 9 posts PRO members, not knocking others just like seeing people supporting the site!!
  11. Read the forcast, it says 1 foot or less all week.
  12. I think all the smaller lakes have been tough. Lake Beltzville is high and full of debris and virtually in fishable, that being said, everything will be late this year except the browns on lady O' and the walleyes were playing for some but I did not see any of the big girls, which a season 10 years ago produced the best walleye fish for me ever, which was the first 2 weeks of June. Also a well known walleye fisherman agreed to my statement and he caught his personal best to date. So hang in the best is yet to come.
  13. Get a hold of FleetTracker, he made a hell of a deal on his boat, must be willing to travel though.
  14. If your going to fish the eastern basin, some of the best walleye fishing I have ever experienced was the 2-3 week of June, most people think they have moved to deeper water. Depending on the temp there is a lot of good fishing to be had in the northeast.
  15. . What did you do about the tag? Did they give you any tip on the age or any info. on the fish. Just curious.
  16. I know you will, please keep us posted with your results JT. I've been waiting patiently for the Otisco boys to start hitting the eyes. Can't wait for the Otisco get together, but don't want to wish the summer away to quickly either. Double edge sword type of thing. Good luck Justin, and let the fillet knife do its thing. PAP.
  17. . As alway Rick a true Red, White,& Blue post!! Thanks for your honesty and knowledge!!
  18. Excellent posts buy the walleye hunters, it's always a pleasure to read the posts with the tactics involved!! Kerchner it's a small world I live in Kresgeville PA. about 20 minutes from WindGap, I worked for PVT. truck & trailer on Male Rd. Had a few cold ones at the Beer Stein!!
  19. I had same issue last year, changed fuel filter (water separator) worked better but not great, pulled the bowl off the carb. 3/4 full of water, wiped the bowl clean bolted her back on problem solved. Have to do my JD tractor twice a year since the corn juice been added to the fuel. Hope you figure it out!!
  20. Excellent catch Chase, to bad the boat went south, looks like you guys had your game on. I hope it doesn't cost you a arm and a leg to get back in the game. Yea, I always have two bilge pumps, one is auto and the other is a flip of a switch. Crapped a bellow once out around Galloo, and the harder we ran the more she pumped Lake O' liquid inside, backed out of the throttle and ran 3 1800gph pumps, 2 in the bilge and one in the step down, NOT fun. Very glad to hear everyone is safe and a few bonus EYES!!!
  21. I would keep it, only those crack heads know what it meas in there lingo, in the real world as we know it it sounds cool. I personally never heard of it used any other way.
  22. Looks good JT. Lots of room for guys, up by us the boys came home, water is chocolate milk and very high with so much debris in the water make it just about unfishable. Will try later in the month. Water is at 38 degrees they aren't going anywhere soon.
