    Barcelona Grease

The pics. are great as the fishing. congrats to your day, and may you have many more.
  2. I X2 that post lake bound and the pen projects, I had no doubt when the novelty got old, that's the folks that would stay with it, the same old guys and when I say old I don't mean in age, its like that with everything. Take for instance I used to have a opening day trout season at our pond, in the beginning people helped out with money, time, trucks to get the food made sure the aerators were working the feeders in the middle of the pond had food, always have people willing to paddle out and fill the feeder. Well all went well for about 5 years and then my buddies little guys were off to bigger and better things, which still was fishing just not around the kids catching fish from a pond. So I decided to keep at it with the younger generation of kids was coming along, and so we (I) kept at it till the time came with my Younger sister by 10 years younger, I'm going to cut this short, but this is the reason. The younger generation had no interest in the first class fish I had 26"-28" rainbows and the same with the golden's and of course the bass, so that kind of erked me, then when they left I got to pick up trash and the same (OLD) guys I started with came to help me clean up my sisters friends trash, she didn't even offer to help, which no surprise there. so I totally get it, I still have the fish in the pond my daughters and their friends go every now and then and it's become a novelty for me now just to see how big they will get.
  3. Like always great job Kevin, from what got posted this year seemed to be a banner year for the OL' Marble eye. Keep on them, soon comes the deer season, and with a little luck you will have 2 back straps. So country folks surf & turf with some garden veggies, why that's fit for a king!!! Tight lines to all and be safe. PAP.

    River eyes

Great job Kevin. That size fish make for excellent eaters!!, We like JT are figuring out our home town lake for the eyes, and we are making progress with 1-3 fish per outing. Talked to some old timers and incorporated some new ideas and you need to be a night owl, but it can be done. Now we are getting people stopping at the house and asking how did you catch those fish from what most call the dead sea. Like you said lots of time, fuel, cost, but the reward is bone chilling reeling in a 10# walleye from our home town lake
  5. I never used them on coated cables but the ones buy cannon where on when I bought riggers and still going strong even with the one side I have a 16# torpedo on, the other side I have a 12#er on. Even though I haven't fished lake O much the last 2 years they still get used on my home lake, for example I'm experimenting with green lights and affix these to my riggers to try different depths to see what happens at different depth, but using the 4"-6" alewives out of the lake has improved my fishing dramatically, from the Dead Sea to 3 walleye a night trips with lots of bass. Oops I didn't mean to hijack your post. Sorry pap, but I wanted to spill the beans on my adventure!!!
  6. Good luck Please feel free to PM me if the need arises!! PAP
  7. Thanks Dan, a little pat on the back goes along way. I have a starter & alt rebuild shop for over 20 plus years and I love the challenge of this business, it went from the simple starters and generators and alt. to the complicated gear reeducated, perminate magnet starters and the computer controlled alt. which has lead to a lot of chasing electrical gremlins, as a lot of alt. brought to me now a days work, but other problems occurs before the alt. fails. I have had to take on these jobs as no one else wants to get involved in this sometimes nightmare, especially on vehicles with some age to them. A simple corroded connection in the computer is the cause of the whole problem, or a simple solder joint comes unbuttoned. I have found that its usually something simple, but for some reason people seem to shy away from the electrical end of this business.
  8. Well it's evident that you have a draw in the system somewhere? and I assume you didn't leave anything on, so when you charged up battery and hooked it up, did you see a little spark? if not take a test light and unhook the negative wire from battery and attach the alligator clip to the wire and touch the positive post you shouldn't have a light if you do you have a draw on the system somewhere. First take off the power wire on the alt. if still a light then that's alright. next pull one fuse at a time and replace fuse if light doesn't go out, keep doing this till light goes out, at least now you know where to start looking, in the area that, that fuse attributes to. Good luck and hope this helps, I had a faulty ignition switch, which kept my exciter wire hot all the time, meaning my voltage regulator was activated at all times even with the key off, but was able to determine quickly buy doing the above and pulling fuses until I pulled the alt. fuse and light went out,
  9. Glad to hear the motor worked good for you, that's a big load off your shoulders, and a safe return in that storm. I know mine is alright as I broke it in with a few trips on our local lake and then I changed the oil and then I took the girls tubing and that really put the smack down on the Ol'girl but she held her own and I was impressed with the performance, the only thing I noticed was I defiantly needed trim tabs, so I installed the Natica style and WHAT a difference in the way the boat handles. I'm totally impressed. Good luck and tight line to all.
  10. Man that is some serious hail, looks like its plowable, this whole year since the turning of the year has been everything but normal, here it is almost August and the nights are in the mid 40's and a high of 67 yesterday. Maybe out of the deep, stage for a week and then shoot the rivers, I hope this isn't the case but who knows with this crazy weather.
  11. Congrats on the hog, Kevin, you earned it fishing solo it qis an adventure for sure, especially when you hook a monster and don't want to lose em. Keep doing the things you enjoy in life as much as possible also!!
  12. If you can get your mitts on a infer red gun that shoots temp, by all means take it along, and run motor for 3/4 to 1 hour then start shooting temp 120 to145 degree's everywhere. If it has a closed water system check to see what thermostat is in it, some one might chime in on other thermostat temps but after $2800.00 in new manifolds, risers, exhaust boots heads redone due to a melt down on and on, the cooling system is very important and (I) feel many people take for granted. Anyway if you can sea test this beast that's the way to fly!! PULL engine cover and shoot the exhaust manifold first should be 10 degree's one way or the other of the thermostat then shoot the front of each head then the middle of each head then the rear of the heads they should be with in 5 degree's of each other on both side, higher temps out side of the thermostat mean trouble could be exhst. manif. or blocked water passage ways in the block to many variables, very costly, motor might need to be pulled to fix fight. Shoot the rubber boot between the riser and the exhaust pipe this is where your hottest readings will be as this is where your exhaust and water get dumped into the pipe to exit the motor your temp should not exceed the thermo by 10 degrees, or somewhere there is a gremlin just waiting to haunt you good luck. Looks like a nice boat but beware!!!
  13. Congrats to you and your crew Mat, there was some big guns in that turney, glad to see a new name on the top.
  14. Way to go guys and and girls, this is a great thing, my hats off to JT for being a wonderful host and doing a lot of leg work to pull this off with great success!!! I wish I could of been there but there always next year I hope?? congrats to the winner, but I truly believe there wasn't any losers, those that made it and participated in the event are all winners in my book. Great job by everyone. I'm sure this will be a hot topic amongst all who attended. Tight lines to all and be safe at what ever your doing. PAP
  15. Excellent job and story, I'll bet that will be in the memory book for ever, congrats on your banner day and let many more come to you. I can't imagine the expression on your face when you finally saw that hawg,40" is a very stout fish and a wall hanger at least!!! Great job man!!!!
  16. I use brown sugar, apple cider canning salt and a pinch of insta cure, the pink color to give the fish a pinkish color and to lessen the salt content, works well for whole chickens also, the feather type. LOL
  17. X2 sitting on pins and needles, need some info!!!
  18. Yea, looks great, I went to culinary school and appearance is a big part of the game, but I bet the tast was as good as it looks. A plus for the dish!!!
  19. Nice fish MT, that one even looks mean!!! 40 minutes is one hell of a fight, great job on landing that beast. PAP.
  20. Excellent job on the water guys, awesome post with getting jr. involved with the fishing game!!!! Gotta love it when a plan come together. PAP.
  21. Nice going Kevin, to bad we need to be nocturnal to catch these elusive fish. My tow vehicle took a crap and its up in the air to fix or get a newer one. Anyway since I have an older ford pickup I can tow with that to a local lake, which has walleye in it but they are very difficult to catch, and only at night,so I'm in the process of rigging a light bar so I can fish at night and see what I'm doing. Great job on the eyes!!!!
