  1. Can't beat that with a stick!!! JT.Congrats on your haul of eyes, the best is yet to come, with the temps falling into the 40's at night will trigger them to put the fall feed bag on!!
  2. WOW, those are some slammer eyes, congrats guys and thanks for sharing!!
  3. Yea I see know, I have the similar setup as my kicker is a 20" shaft and I made a bracket to mount it to my swim platform, both motors are almost the same depth when in the down position. I copied the swim platform bracket from someone's post earlier in the year, I will take a pic later. Thanks guys, I have my hands full right know, as my brother is dying from "cancer" he will pull through tonight so Hospice care says, I just received a call that my sister is at his house now, she flew up from Florida, I have a gut feeling once he see's Fern that will be the last straw, I need to be strong for him and his wife. I have been the king pin of our family as far as keeping everyone on the same page, you know how family can be at times I went threw this with my DAD, and I don't want his wife to experience what I went through with dad. Sorry guys I just needed to vent!! Wish my brother well for me I will definitely need to do some LakeO' fishing after this is all over. Dad's waiting for Faron and I know they will be trolling somewhere out there. Thanks, PAP.
  4. Congrats on your first child, you are truly blessed Fleet. Having a new born will definitely change your life as well, I know!! We had twins(girls) and they are my life!!! I had them up to the lake last year and they caught there first smallmouth and walleye at age 8 They are 9 now and begged to come up to the lake this year and its still a possibility. You will be amazed as to how life changes with a child, and my wife is the best mom a child could have, and understands my need to fish as its the only hobbie I have, but they come first!! Best wishes to you and your wife, we pray for you to have a happy healthy baby. Your friend PAP.
  5. Great going guys, I guess I'm going to have to put this on my list of must try, for next year!! We usually fish the western basin in May, but why travel that far, and you have other species to target also. You guys are truly blesses to have such a great fishery in your back yard. LakeO and Erie all within a few hours drive. Best of luck with the EYES guys and gals. PAP.
  6. Absolutely awsome video!!! DITTO as Les couldn't have said it any better. Definitely not your first rodeo, the ladies worked together with the men like a well oiled machine. The music was an excellent choice also, fit the scene to the T. Maybe you guys and gals should think about getting your own show on the Fishing channel!! I've seen a lot worse on TV for crying out loud!! Thanks for sharing this with us. Best of luck to all. PAP.
  7. Les, you tighten your kicker up so she's strait and use the main as the steering and this works without the arm? Cool I've got to give that a whirl!!!
  8. Man O man ED, you sure had a tuff day, thank The Lord you got your probe back, rigger cable is cheap compared to a new XD probe. What did you determine you might of hit out there with the Troller and did it do any damage as you said it didn't work correctly afterward. On a brighter note those are some fine looking bows. MaMa said there would be days like this, but so many and close together she didn't mention,LOL PAP.
  9. I used my kicker motor as a main when we went to Canada and found that I needed to loosen the tension screws up so the easy steer would track my main steering, I/O otherwise the bracket would either collaps or pull apart, I found that it needed to be all most floppy for the bracket to work properly. At first I had a rubber bungee, from one adjustment knobby to the other, then one day a older gent. at Henderson asked why I have a bungee cord on and he loosened up my kicker and it worked flawlessly ever since. I always turn the powerhead towards the I/O when traveling over the water with the steer arm on.
  10. Welcome to the site, YES!!! this is the greatest site for lakeO fisherman, and there are so many knowledgeable folks from many different lakes also. The guys are more than willing to help anyone with a glitch from tackle to boat repairs. One nice thing about this site is there is no such thing as a stupid question, so don't be afraid to ask, someone on here WILL help you. PAP
  11. Xxx

    galloo islands

Most of the walleye in NE lakeO are migratory fish, there are some resident fish but not enough to target, start to focus on the migratory fish which are headed to Canada, Galloo, Galloo shoals and out towards the Ducks,
  12. OMG!!!!! Les, nobody is perfect, thank The Lord you got all your stuff out of the drink, looks like it might take some time to put everything back in place, but it sounds like the family time out weighs the D time to put everything back. PAP.
  13. Nice to see you back on the river Kevin, congrats on you catch!!!!
  14. To the Frenchman, I respect the thought that you were looking out for the welfare of the not so knowledgeable folks in the boat buying scene, but like posted above everyone has the right to sell their boat as is, even if its short of a crime, and of the expense of the buyer because he or she didn't know any better. I've learned a lot over the years of posting, not all of us are on the same page. Between the tree huggers, pelt petters, and fish kissers, you just have to swallow hard think what you want and just look the other way
  15. Buy seeing the pics from both Trapper and Kevin the river eyes have nice shoulders on them not your average pick handle river fish, thanks for sharing with many more to come as the best time of the year moves apon us. PAP
  16. Absolutely they will work as that is the exact same plug senecio I used. I have removed that assembly from 2 other boats to the one I have know. I really like the water proof plug, I wired them identical so no guess work, pretty simple. And would like to add the plug is sturdy so if it gets stepped on it won't crush like the older ones. And I ran 10 gauge wire not the piano wire they came with, stronger motor and less amp draw with the heavier wire and of course I used a breaker fuse system, which has never tripped.
  17. If they are the cast metal type you can go with 12#ers as I have the same kind. I don't know how fast the new one's are but they suit my needs, if they are of the composite type body I wouldn't go with anything over 10#s as Les recommended, I hade one of those and the composite started to crack where the boom enters the rigger body, As far as dependable I bought them used all 3 for $350.00 and have never had a problem with them, and I have them 10 years or so!!!
  18. Way to go Les!! Makes you scratch your head on those days you cant buy a fish, congrats on your banner day, with more to come. My favorite time of the year is just around the corner, Sept till mid Nov.
  19. Excellent job JT, always nice to see someone take the time to show our future fisherman the ropes, with the action it take to keep them interested!!! Great job on the post and pics.
  20. X2 those are some healthy looking fish, as I was looking at your pics. I noticed your boat looked very familiar, is it a Sea Ray, I noticed the skinny gunwales as I have and the same dash, & steering wheel, I noticed how you mounted your rod holders as I made 4 plates to mount mine, and I removed the back to back seats.
  21. What size boats do you guys use in the river, like 14fters or so?
  22. As posted above, the trophy is up to the individual. Size does not have to be the determine factor, It could be the story behind the catch or that special person who was with at the time. I have a walleye mounted it is 12 3/4 # and 36" long, that fish came out of Canada, even if it wasn't of trophy size I would of mounted it because of the story behind the catch, I just got lucky and I got the best of both worlds. I caught that fish, with the last trip to Canada my father was going to make, as he just couldn't make the long journey any more so I was blessed to have "DAD" particapate in one heck of a tackle busting, net ripping battle which we thought was a nice size northern. Lots of times that story comes up in reminiscing old times, with my uncles and the guys that were on that trip.
