  1. Holy crap Chad, that is a monster, I really never read the musky stuff, I just happened to open this page up due to its interest from others and there you are with I would have to say the biggest musky I ever saw. Congrats on the catch, that's a fish of a life time!!!
  2. Now that's what they look like!!! excellent job and nice report with cool PIC.!!
  3. Welcome Big Bill, hope to read some of your reports soon!! Sept, Oct, and mid Nov. are my favorite times of the year and to fish. Feel free to ask questions if you feel the need to do so, as there are some of the most knowledgeable folks from all different lakes on this board and they are more than willing to help anyone out. I can tell you these guys helped me out a lot, just by reading the posts in the different areas has helped me. Welcome aboard and enjoy!! PAP.

    Walleye 8/15

Excellent job Chas, yea 20mph winds is a tad over what I would call a walleye chop, lol good luck tomorrow. PAP.
  5. Extremely nice looking brown ED!!! Glad you got out and posted a on the water fishing report!!
  6. When you shut it off and go to restart it, it won't restart, why because its choking it to much or it won't choke itself. Need a little more info. There are 3 screws on the choke, where the black Bakelite is you can adjust the choke plate buy turning that black round thing, there are marks on the aluminum part of the carb, mark where it was and with the motor hot turn this till the choke plate stands open then tighten the 3 screws up and try that. I personally hate auto choke plates, I turned mine open so it can't work. I pump the throttle 3 times and hit the key and she stays running, whether its 1 week or 1 month mine fires right up without the choke. Rebuilding the carb won't fix the choke issue.
  7. I can remember in the late 70's up the Perch River we had property and the salmon were so thick you could literally walk across them and the snagging game was in full force, being a young lad and the whole river to myself I thought this was great, then they did away with the snagging and that put the little town of Dexter right into a ghost town. It just seems to me the salmon numbers have been diminishing ever since, yes there were banner years like two years ago and last year but nothing like it was. I also realize since then the lake went from dark green to crystal clear and many things have changed since the late 70's for the better or not? I'm just lucky enough to be around long enough to see the good the bad and the ugly. I personally don't think we can point the finger at the fisherman-ladies whether your on land or a boat person. Lets work together on this and as a whole we can adapt and overcome, pointing the finger at each other will accomplish nothing. With the economy in the shape it's in this is no time for the state of NY. To take another punch on the chin. The local businesses need people in there stores buying fishing items as we need salmon to catch!!! I hope for all our sakes this gets resolved fast and peacefully.
  8. It's nice to see someone's determination pay off, congrats on a banner year Kevin. As tonight I will be fishing also, the first time since my accident, I have been working on the boat, day in and day out,now it's time to see if all my time and effort will shine. I have tested different items on the water, now it's time to climb back in the captains chair, so tonight will be the first I have fished in 2 years, I'm really excited!! Just the amount of guys that will be at the launch is really nice, but the guys who stood by me through the thick and thin of thing will be aboard the 1 Worm, and I'm sure dad will be guiding us, which he would make the 4th guy aboard, no one has asked to sit in my dads chair yet, but tonight I'm going to ask my uncle to take his seat, I'm sure he will be honored, as I have always been the driver.
  9. I will have to ask my brother-in-law, then I will know for sure.
  10. I totally agree with you, on being better off with out the other looney's out there. I was talking to a guy who had a brand new boat with a new 115 4 stroker and he told me he just got it through a insurance deal, he and his buddy where fishing on Seneca and some guy pulling a water skier ran into him from behind and smashed his boat to the point it almost sank, knocked the motor clean off. The driver of the other boat and the skier were hurt pretty bad, he and his buddy just got like whiplash, maybe you heard of this, the older guy with the new boat is a local to our area. Just thought I'd throw that story out there.
  11. absolutely that was a compliment, I adore your ability to get up before the chickens and seek out what might be a dangerous situation in the middle of the night by yourself, I know your 3x7 now, but be careful out there, and keep up the good work on the eyes!!
  12. They make a hand held dial for the archery guys with when the critters are most likely to move, some times its after hunting hours, say 1 or 2 am. and then the same maybe in the afternoon hours, its not always first light or before dusk, I have found this true with the fishing high's and lows also. My brother-in-law brought this over one time and we marked the high's and lows and we caught fish in the high's and nothing in the lows. Maybe a coincident maybe not, but I found it to hold true more than not. I plan our fishing trips around the moon phases and so far so good, I'm not going to say we never got skunked using this theory,LOL. But to some extent it does work.
  13. Very impressive catch Rick, I'm more impressed with the steelheads they are huge!!! I'm sure they keep the boys jumping as they are a true fighter also, also the mature king is of nice size and color yet. You are a true sportsman by putting your spoon spread and lat.& Lon. Lines up also. I always look forward to your posts. PAP.
  14. I know this doesn't pertain to a loan but I sold 2 mid 90's boats 18fters and went 10 years backwards to afford the boat I wanted. I looked at many till I found this gem, it was stored in a barn for 18 years, yesterday while taking the kids tubing the hour meter rolled over to 400 hrs. I also stuck a few bucks into her. I'm happy with it. There was a thread on here " lets see your boat" and a comment was made about how many old boats are still taking guys fishing and how good they still look. Be patient and your ship will come in, meanwhile get a credit card or take out a small personal loan for 2 years and just make the timely payments and you will be ok.
  15. I would put my bet on either the thermostat housing is clogged or the exhaust elbow is clogged. I had a nightmare on my hands when I purchased my boat and the overheating problems I over came, this has educated me rather well, it also could be the main motor water pump, but like mentioned above to check that you could do a test to see if she is pulling enough water to that point, next would be the thermostat housing it's self there are ports in there that allow water to be discharged directly into the heads this would be the lower lines, to test this get a 5 gallon bucket and pull a line with it running and see how much water is being discharged and try to measure the amount of each hose, as close as possible, if discharge is less than the other 3 lines time for new stat housing, next would be your riser, I was told to use that acid the use to clean concrete, and dilute it and turn the riser up so you can fill it up with the acid and let set for 2 hours and then clean out with a coat hanger and a air hose keep poking in the holes with the coat hanger and blowing into the different holes till you feel as if you got what you can. I also bought a thermal gun so I can read temp. Very helpful to determine where it's hot, as you need to be careful of the rubber boot between the riser and the exhaust pipe itself, I hope it's just a faulty thermostat, which I don't even run, PAP.
  16. You are a true fisherman Kevin, perseverance is the name of the game and you got what it takes!!! Great job on the eyes. Also I think you ought to name you boat RELENTLESS.
  17. Awesome job Chas, those are some beautiful fish, and the lake looks nice also, not 2-3 footers like when I'm up. Thanks for taking the young guy fishing!!! That trip will leave him with lots of nice memories.
  18. Beautiful morning, I hope the fishing gets better for you guys, lots of time and effort put forward, with little to show so far. For the banner year of walleye fishing, you salmon guys are struggling, I hope it picks up for you guys and soon!!!
  19. Very interesting, thanks a lot for sharing, seems to me those toothy critters can change the Eco. system in a hurry. They stocked the Muskie in our local lake and at trout stocking time it a real feast for the Muskie, and they have raised havoc on the walleye and brown trout population, but there are some guys who love the challenge of catching these beasts.
  20. Congrats!! to the young guys, the smiles from ear to ear says it all. I think we just got to more future big water trolling guys, thanks for taking the kids fishing it's always nice to see the younger generation getting involved. That trip with those fish will be the talk amongst the boys at the first day of school. (Hey guys I caught a brown trout this------------------------------------------------------big this summer out on my dads boat, I'm not kidding!!!) Great job fellow fisherman!! PAP.
  21. I'm going to x3 to the above post, on some of the nastiest days ever on Lake O' like the Coast Guard came over to us and asked if we where alright, and when we held up our stringer of walleye 1 short of a 3 man limit he said good luck but it's not supposed to get any better today, I always had better fishing before a storm front and the 3 days before and the 3 days after a full moon. When we book our Canadian fishing trips we try to get those weeks that fall into the 3days moon phases. A blue bird day is always tough fishing for us, not saying you won't catch anything, but not as good as an overcast day. At least that's my take on it, and I'm a firm believer in this theory. Tight lines to all, and be safe out there! PAP.
  22. Congrats on your catch Les, but I can certainly understand why it was a little frustrating with the amount of water you covered, you would think there would have been a little more action, but it still beats mowing the lawn LOL PAP
  23. Seems like the stleelie's are of banner size this year, and that brownie ain't no slouch either!! Congrats on the catch, tight lines to all. PAP.
