  1. Careful John, he just might have some company lol. My suggestion would be to try and leader down, smaller bait, live like tip it with spikes, oh yea, keep moving around with electric trolling, less anchoring. It's def been a tough winter as they are spooky as hell.
  2. BP, that's correct the release will damage the lead, but it's no different than with copper rigs. Still a deadly rig.
  3. Gill your correct, the recessive gene was protected back in the 50's from the base's colonel, allowed the herd to continue the inbreeding. My friends dad worked there, we hunted the igloos and areas like the Q and Loran C. He took a white buck, beautiful coat. Some real monsters have come out of there. Les, you are correct about contamination, huge plume in the ground water, wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. Hate to think what's made it to the east side of the lake. Chlorinated solvents made its way through the aquifer.
  4. Just a thought, isn't the starter grounded to the block which In turn would ground the hull /boat ? Remember it's not just stray current that causes galvanic corrosion it can be two different metals on the nobility table that can start corroding in water hense why we have zincs on the outboards etc. if your not keeping it in the water or trailering it maybe it's not a worry. I might check it though with an ohm meter to make sure you .6-.7 Just an opinion.
  5. Lol you ain't kidding. Actually that was a clam boat. Here's the fishing boat we used. Little more practical
  6. Not a bad outing. Hooked up with a guy that runs Southern Salt Water charters, Dan Allen, great guy. Got into the trout. Cold weather made things interesting. Didn't connect into the red fish due to not being able to get in the waterways holding them. So we ventured out on a grassy area and had some fun. Oh, found my next boat for jerking copper on Seneca lol.
  7. Yea I understand Dan. It's tough though when fields are still standing and people are complaining about not seeing deer. Kinda of ironic right? Teaching farmers about deer mgt is the right step. Corn standing through till December is a problem but yet there begging for nuisance permits right?
  8. Incentives Dan, not regulations. Have to think out of the box. All I'm saying.
  9. Nick, you know how I feel about them. See you when I get back. Awesome stuff.
  10. Post is great. I'll be sending one tying in already said topics, although the 3 topics are somewhat pinpointed and not capturing true issues facing our deer management program. My added points will be; 1. Nuisance permits for farmers that allow hunting as well. If you don't want hunting on your property but yet give the permits to all your buddies that's an issue. 2. Harvesting corn prior to gun season. We have got to get the corn fields cut prior to the start of gun. Not sure how to give incentives to farmers. 3. Rather would see 1 buck per season vs restriction but something rather than current would be better. 4. Our current surveying / counting deer herd is broke. Look to see what other states like Ohio is performing.
  11. Also interested in the upgrade to the XD, but after thinking, which is always not good, if the blow back with your ball isn't accurate on your FF due to the angle (which I'm not debating), how would a fish in the same location within the cone of your transducer be any more accurate in depth on your FF? Meaning if the weight is near the fish how are they so different in depths?
  12. Awesome thanks a bunch!
  13. Got a deal on a digital master built. Didn't like the idea of getting cornered with biscuits and after smoking a ham and some chickens and ribs you only need to refill the wood chip holder once during cook time.
  14. PD, what brand name might that spoon be?
  15. Joe, does the same thing but might screw up your auto stop feature. If it were me unless you got some weird stray current going on, I'd stay with the PIC on the down riggers. Less to monkey around with. If you get to doubting things, throw a ohm meter on when your on the water. Hook up neg to your neg on battery, pos on your cable, should read .5 to .6 volts. Anything less or above .7 you got something going on. Good luck.
  16. Glad you got out safe Les. I bet it had to be good to get out.
  17. Wayne, good chatting with you.
  18. Fly, I believe that bass pro usually puts their Mercs on sale in February. Hang tight your almost there if your looking for one of those.
  19. Congrats! Nice work and way to go doing on your own.
  20. For what it's worth, if you do go on to the website to look up your serial# to see if it has the Defective trigger, you get a 20% discount code to Remington's website just for checking. I also agree with rule #1 however if mine were to fire on its own sitting on my lap in the tree stand with the safety on???? I'm thinking there might be a little problem.

    Any ice

Last year was looking to be possible Les, but your right 77 was the year of some monster pike off the pier through the ice. Without sub zero temps for a good month I wouldn't walk on a puddle in a parking lot if it's from Seneca lake waters.
  22. FTFL, there was so much water in the wood you didn't need oil.lol. Electric, I actually picked it up,at a garage sale for this.
  23. Thanks Les, SR, along with great info on here, I would take a look at topics on Hull Truth, you'll find a ton of info on it, for instance, it's recommended to use exterior plywood with a resin, the treated wood has copper components that create corrosion to the aluminûm. Here's what rot looked like on mine. In the end there was no way it was coming out in one piece. You'll have to decide how long your investment needs to last on how much you put into it. It can add up quickly but you'll know it's done right. I would tell you it's a lot of time but it's not difficult time, it's really straight forward and not too difficult, just time. Let me know if you need any info.
