  1. I spray a little on my hands and then rinse in the lake before touching rigger balls and releases. Masking human scent and other smells that can get on your hands does help. Heard about a study done , one side of boat with spray, other side without. Side with scent cover was hit almost exclusively.
  2. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Use the boat, if it sounds and runs good and doesn't use oil, go for it. If one motor starts acting up then it may be time to rebuild. Motors taken care of can run forever. Had a searay with the 3.0 motor for 25 yrs plus 5 for previous owner and never replaced any interior parts. Mega water skiing and fishing.
  3. Canvas Concepts 11 Buttonwood Dr. Hilton NY 17yrs exp. Out of the way for you, but, quality work, fair price. Trailering covers are more expensive than mooring ones. I was quoted a 1/2 cover for an 19.5 Islander, windshield to transom ~ 950.00
  4. I use to use the TC stp's also and loved the accuracy but not the terminal damage. Switched to Hornady xtp hollow points and much better results and great blood trails . I also had a long track on my last deer , low hit and slightly back but the hollow point did it's job and kept the blood trickling. With the STP I probably would not have found it.
  5. I have had luck running spoons behind the hotspot type triangle flashers. Very little drag and about a 6ft leader of fluorocarbon to the spoon When running deeper. I also attach them to the ball, and run the spoon 10-15 feet back. Higher up you run, further back from the ball.
  6. I will take it today, early evening. Where are you located? I'm in Hilton. 729-6317
  7. Tied some flies with an eagle claw treble, normal fly size. Hooks were nice and sharp, BUT they were bending down and out slightly and we were losing fish on them. Retied with some good stainless trebles I had in a box and stopped losing fish. Eagle claws were too wimpy (thin) for the Kings.
  8. Call garmin. Sounds like a processor problem. Maybe something about the rudder angle calculator. Unfortunately I read they are going to no longer support the TR1 soon.

I actually tried one many years ago from that exact spot. One bite, spit it out, tossed it and the one in the freezer. Tasted like the river smells- like chemicals. We did have a blast. Caught many.
  10. We went to Dunkirk for the afternoon and found good temps though erratic at times, marked pretty much nothing , 60-95ft. Hooked a small one on the way in. No bait pods , no marks at all. Girls at the launch said people are out 90-100ft to find any. I'll try again but I'll make sure I have good info first. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Did the same thing to my toe in the exact same spot last year. Knife was sticking straight up and down, luckily had my sneakers on and only about 3/8 penetration. Nice little divit in skin now. We were off Sandy fishing the same depths. Small one and a 17lb. Not as much action as you, we got out late also. Our temps were 50-60ft. Small on spoon and bigger on FF. We went to Erie yesterday and it was terrible fishing.. Water too warm off Buffalo, 79 down 62ft., and no schools off Dunkirk AT ALL!! Found some good temps there though, caught 1 and shook off at the boat. Didn't even care. Fishing reports for buffalo seem to be bogus. They say Barcelona is hot but who knows.
  12. Does the Garmin have all the necessary accessories?
  13. Had a small cluster off sandy Creek on a wire rig Friday. That was it.
  14. I was out of sandy in a 19ft starcraft. If it was me, I didn't see you anyways. there was also a 22ft out there.
  15. How's the transom ? Has it ever been replaced?
  16. Get to IBay early, line forms quickly and heard people are parking every which way because there's water in 1/2 the lot. A little water never hurt anyone, well most.
  17. Golden Alternator on Elmgrove road also will.
  18. I think it's been done. They probably spawned where ever they could find that 41-43 temp whether in the river, creeks or lake shore line. Another screwy year.
  19. Still have ice flowing down the river.Hopefully gone by this weekend. If so, they should start running hard. Verified at a bait shop yesterday.
  20. I was out last sat and they were almost nonexistent off sandy creek in 125-200 feet. I do use flea flicker and blood run on my rigger poles, but my wire dipsies were coming up almost clean. non on rigger cables. Picked up 3 kings lost 2. Fished 47 deg to 52 where ever it was found in above mentioned depth. They are darkening a little now. Maybe try some 55-60 deg also.
  21. If longer leads off the riggers (25ft or more) are producing fish, IMO, probably pretty safe to run it. Just set it slightly above the riggers.
  22. Might want to print out a rigger wire angle chart also. calculates approx . true depth relevant to cable angle blowback. Google images and you'll find it. When you're in temp on your probe you can than set your dipsies accordingly.
