    The previous owner liked to acid wash the hull often. The residual acid sat in any low spot in the trailer, and the wood bunks and rotted out the steel over time. The uprights holding the bunks are rotted out pretty bad. The boat will sit on the trailer in the yard for storage just fine, but I would not take it down the highway or over any bumps at speed. I can transfer the title to the new owner, but I would not recommend going far from Chaumont, NY with the boat on it. Just being honest. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    9.9 seems too big for a square stern canoe. Put that 9.9 on a 14' aluminum that are dime-a-dozen on craigslist. You will be safer, more stable and have more room to work. matt

    For Sale: 1997 Pro-Line walkaround. This is a freshwater only boat. This model and year of Pro-Line contains no wood in the construction, which means no rot anywhere. Powered by a Mercruiser 5.7LX, Thunderbolt Ignition, and pushed by a performance leading Bravo 3 outdrive. This power package makes maneuverability and handling a breeze for any boater. The boat is bottom painted with West Marine FW-21. Boat has dual batteries with a switch between them. This boat has been used as a pleasure and fishing boat in and around Chaumont, NY and has been very reliable and seaworthy for our family of five. Professionally winterized and wrapped each year I have owned it. Currently moored in Chaumont, NY. We enjoy this boat, but are going a different direction with our boating needs. There is a trailer included that has been, and should only be used as a STORAGE TRAILER. It can be registered, but am essentially selling the boat with a free trailer.     Yeah. The pnemonic devices he uses to remember lights and Rules of the Road are good, but like I said, if you decide to use MLS to study for your license, the exam questions come directly from the quizzes you take throughout the course they present. I used his pnemonic devices to help remember some stuff but there came a time when I had to focus on the material from MLS. I carried my flash cards everywhere for a few weeks.     www.marinerslearningsystem.com is the site you want to look at. I did mine with them and had no problem passing their test, that qualifies you to apply to USCG for your license. Once you buy your coarse, they send you a box of books, materials, and your chart. You study the books, the supplements online and take a series of quizzes online. Once you pass a section, you move on to the next. Once you pass all of it, you get a certificate to test out. You choose a site(all over the place) and sit for your USCG qualified exam. The exam consists of the very same questions from all the quizzes you just took. There are four sections. I aced two, and was in the 90's on the other two, so I was prepared really well. A few sections will take some time, a quiet kitchen table to work on and some patience: Rules of the Road, the light and horn configurations, and the chart work. The rest is easy. MLS supplies you with flash cards you can print off to study with. I did it, and it helped a lot. MLS also has qualified staff on call all of the time to answer questions you may have. If you can't figure something out, give them a call, they will walk you through it over the phone. I am in no way affiliated with MLS. I am just really busy, and realized sitting in a class was not going to work. I stayed up late, took Sunday afternoons, etc. and I was more than prepared.     I wear a pair of rubber Carhartt bibs. Durable, waterproof and I can get them dirty as hell and just hose them off and not cringe every time. I might wear a little nicer jacket, but not $100's nicer. My current jacket is a rubber coated Columbia raincoat with a tight hood and cuffs. I want waterproof, cleanable and simply dry. I've had goretex, etc. and don't feel it is necessary for sitting on a boat. The tight cuffs are nice to slow down the wet sleeve syndrome. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    Yeah, just give them a call. I was given some old Mag 10's that didn't work. I told them what was going on, they put together a package, I paid and they sent it.     I have fished both extensively. The Scotties are just bullet proof and simple to use, but a little slower on the retrieve. They take up a lot of space on the gunwhale or the corners of the boat. The Cannons are faster coming up and are smaller on the boat. They both are hard on the lower back if setting and resetting a lot like fishing lake trout on a charter. If I had the space, I would probably run the Scotties. Due to the longevity of them. If I was setting up a smaller personal boat, I think the Cannons are a better choice.     Stray current is a concern with slipped boats, no matter the hull material. Make sure your sacrificial anodes are up to the task in not only life span, but also the right kind. Most drives come with zinc, but I have researched and found that magnesium anodes are better in freshwater. You can also hang anodes over the edge of the dock to aid in warding off electrolysis of your drive or hull. Take a look around your marina too. If you see wires in the water or on the docks that look worn, or unkempt, address it. If there are boats near you that are plugged into shore power, be aware they may be leaking current too. Some do, some are just fine. Good luck and inspect your drive often. I had a Bravo 3 drive go bad due to electrolysis(and age). Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

    I went through those same symptoms with my Merc 5.7, electronic ignition. With your carb being rebuilt recently, I would think the mixture screws are off. Don´t forget to check your cap and rotor. If they are not connecting well, you will have crappy ignition, leading to the loading up of the heads you are getting. Napa carries marine application ignition parts, which by the way are a must. Be very attentive to the position of the plug wires if you do decide to put on a new cap. Switching them would be very bad for your motor. Good luck Matt

    As of right now, all seems to be open and barely usable. Henchen's is open and running. You will need boots and maybe even waders at all launches though. Maybe some others have heard different. I would not be surprised at this point. Water is beyond high. Water is full of debris. Be careful. Not sure about camping. Matt

    What about using a piece of the synthetic decking? Sure it will cost more, but is very stable, is easy to work with, will last forever and you have a pick of some colors that might set up nicely with your boat. Just a thought. Sent from my moto z3 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
