  1. Use the primers that the airbrush paints recommend if you want the great colors. they work terrific, pain the spoons just like you would be painting on a car, and finish the same way.
  2. I use the 30s as well, spool 300 feet of 50# braid then top it off with 25# big game, or Pline, and your good to go.
  3. 30 is ok, the reason most of us go with 50# or heavier is that it lasts longer. Watch the line as it ages and when it gets beat up down to about 20# test replace it...... Not sure if that makes sense but it doses in my head... I would leave yours depending on how often you fish it can last for years. Charter reel are used much more than whats normally expected.
  4. If you notice there are as many opinions on this as there are weights. When that's the case it's usually user preference, not fact, and what works a particular boat. Deep fishing need heavyweights, the primary concern is tracking. Different boats are affected differently by wind and current. Everything out there is good, what best can be argued about, pick what you like follow the rule, lighter ones when shallow heavy for deep (the deeper the heavier). If you're getting more than 6 to 8 feet of blowback at the ball I say you're too deep for your weight go heavier, or fish shallower. Get a few light ones say 8 or 10# for shallow and a couple of the heaviest ones your rigger will handle then go from there, don't worry you will get many opportunities to replace them if you fish much. And if you may hit the bottom (even a chance) run a ball or if using a herby or fish style hook it to the cable by the tail so it will swing and not hang up on rocks. PK
  5. That is a great read, you did an excellent job. But on a lighter note, you failed to mention that copper and lead line have a love affair underwater, and are like two horny teenagers if they can get together they will. And they will intertwine into a birds nest that's so bad you will laugh and cry at the same time. Not sure why they do, but they do so be warned.... (actually is because the way they move underwater makes them tanglers when run near each other) . Keep your lead line far from you copper. More information in your article than any other on copper I have seen.
  6. Sea bands that go on your wrist work great for wiping the puke off your chin. Ginger will make your puke taste better. Non drowsy motion sickness medicine will make your puke taste like medicine. Get the drowsy and take it like the directions tell you for a couple days it will not bother you. 7. If you get a tiller, you have to mount so the handle does not get in the way (if your leaving it on, but its not the way to do it), you have to make sure you can start it with the handle being "up" and that it doesn't interfere with the throttle control or the shifting. Normally with a tiller, you take the tiller off completely, and hook the controls up to the front of the boat for throttle and shift, and add the Itroll on top of that. you will still need to go back and manually operate the choke to start it, if you go that route . 10. I like the braid that suffix uses so that’s what I use. It seems finer to me. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  11. Lots of paddles also give the insecure fisherman something to do, so he feels like is contributing by changing paddles to trying to catch a fish if there are none around or if they have shut down Like big figit spinners for dumbells.
  12. Yes to what Bozeman said, it's a big job but not especially hard technically if you can pull the motor and everything else attached back there its just parts replacing. Using wood glued and screwed and epoxied is the easiest. I have done several.
  13. On your isolator, there are some considerations that only you know... How secured out of the weather- there are lots of versions of this. When things go to POOP on a boat, that's when all the weak links show up and people get hurt.. So you are the only judge, but if you take guests out your subjecting them to your decisions so remember that for good or bad. Most err on side of caution. Look at the "add a battery kit" that's out there, it's really a great way to run two batteries on a small craft.
  14. The Shakespeare new part number is usbwdro620c902 for downriggers and dipsy poles and about anything elce you want to use them for....
  15. Here is my opinion, FIRST decide what maps you want to use. I like navtronics maps, they only work with the features I want in some units, Garmin are the most inflexible in my experience. The others very. But first look at the maps you want to use then decide on units.
  16. You can go with just one battery, but it will shorten the life span of the start battery, a deep cycle is great but after a bit of age it will not have the umph to start your main because its designed different. If you insist on one battery get an over size start battery, and don't push it when it gets a few years on it. Problem with a deep cycle is when it gets to a point it will not start your main with no warning, all the while it will work fine running the other gear, but the oversize start will give a little warning if you watch for it.
  17. Or you can leave everything save the $ and just use some rubber bands, once you learn how to use them it will make life much easier. PK
  18. Depends on the load, the right way though is you need both.
  19. You can see the one I built on Knotlost.net Paul
  20. Funny thing the spring Browns. One year bought a bunch of cheap stick baits and spray bombed them white. Some ugly ass lures just threw on board and hosed them down till paint ran off. Only thing that worked that year Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  23. They are hard to find. Big Jon the real guy developed them but stopped making them and sold their design so I guess there not making them. Do a search and keep going back pages into the search. I found 8 that way and bought them all. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
