  4. I have the Raymarine sport pilot, I removed all the hydraulic original equipment, steering wheel, to control arm. All of it gone, including all the hydraulic lines and power steering pump. I installed Sea Star HH5261 helm, hoses and SeaStar/Teleflex Inboard ATM Cylinder Part #HC5313 and the incidentals. Done works perfectly with motor off.

  12. Start with high octane gas and E3 plugs and it will help alot maybe enough for what you need. What jarred said is very true, thats why kickers are made different than regular motors.
  13. You have to start with the water pump in the outdrive. I know you said it was done, but what your describing is very -outdrive water pump- sounding. Boat in the water, pull the hose coming from the outdrive water pump off where it goes into the motor or heat exchanger and stick it in a 5 gal bucket and time it. Then measure how much water it pumped in the time (you can find what it is supposed to do in many places on the net). Then you will know if the problem is the outdrive water pump or ahead of it. One time the pickup tube from my outdrive water pump got pinched when assembling it and caused the same problems.
  14. If you get the right fittings they will fit right threw with no issues make sure you have some 5200 sealants to seat the new ones with. They have a fitting that comes with a front half (outside of boat), that threads into the back (inside the boat) and it comes in all different configurations. If it were me I would not get plastic, only brass or aluminum. I wouldn't take the chance of it breaking, I hate threw the hull fitting, as they have sunk alot of boats. I did almost the same conversion on my boat and am very happy with the results, you are going to really like the steering on it.
  15. Here are a few "tools" that make it very easy to get them to depth... https://www.cabelas.com/product/ROKLEES-FISH-DESCENDER/1997977.uts?productVariantId=4086685&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=04096820&rid=20&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=CjwKCAjw-6bWBRBiEiwA_K1ZDXMexCXMH4iOVTHEFFpyvZ_ELBtucTt84a27Jdel0ndFkro6SPVZ5xoCzoQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds http://www.captharry.com/fishing-accessories/fish-release-tools/ https://www.sportfishingmag.com/fish-descender-devices-release-fishing#page-5 . 16. The real problem is with how deep your bringing them up from and the water temperature you are releasing them in. You need to get them back down to depth with a reverse hook and weight. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. That thing you're wondering about looks like it may be a galvanic isolator if it has shore power, some other type of isolator if it dose not. I'm not positive but I would test it and see. You can find lots of info on the web about them. They are extremely nice to have on your boat, but that one looks old, but if it works keep it and use it. PK

  20. Ok cool, you're not so crazy after all. If you look around the internet there are a lot of pictures of guys mounting the kickers to the swim platform. There are brackets that make it happen very easy and secure and allow you to place the kicker in the best position for your application. I would look into those and see if it would get you where you want to be. I would think the brackets off to the side would place the motor out to far from the side. Check the control configuration first. What I mean is the steering control has an optimal distance from the main motor to work properly, find out what that is and reverse engineer it.
  21. There are better ways to get to 70 feet. The problem with your plan is when a fish hits, (you know the big one you absolutely do not want to lose) you need to keep tension on the fish and with that snap weight its going to be very hard not to get a sag in the line, and that means slack in the line to the fish. Once you give him a second of slack off he goes..... You may do a drop weight that comes off or a sliding weight on a shorter core (like a torpedo) but you better be really good at handling the pole. It's just easier to go to a dipsy diver and eliminate all the potential failure points of a lead line with a contraption.
  22. Im thinking you may be crazy. Why are you doing this? If so just have a bracket then definitely crazy, but if you have a reason mayby not.... You just said a bracket, a bracket for what?
  23. Alum is the way to go, Its hard to picture what you're describing but you can make it very strong with alum, and the 6061 will work fine. The differences in the alloys in your usage is very small so what you want is what is available at a reasonable cost. 6061 is what you would probably choose anyway if you could choose any of them. If welding it then makes sure it all is taken into account with what needed to weld properly. Don't fret about the differences in alloy but the design is more important in your project. I have worked with alum with boats a great deal and its great to work with. Some people think you're making a space station so they go a bit overboard in worrying about things that would take 1K years to be a real problem.
  24. Freeking Ice is being made at night, melts during the day but damn it's been cold.
