  1. You can also find owners manuals online and that shows you as well.
  2. Yes it will work fine. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. Exactly what he said! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. No you’re doing it right. You are correct on the desired numbers. You were not clear in what you were doing. So someone was giving you advice on something else. you are checking your voltage/amps on your downrigger cable is correct? if so yes you want to be about .6 it rise because you boat is acting like a battery. It’s gradually growing the current as it’s holding more voltage/amperage. Does not necessarily mean you have a electric leak it’s way too complicated to discuss on here, but the black box would fix it Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. The standard go-to is BIG GAME as for the poundage you may start with something around 15# Having said that, there are many variables that can change that poundage, but they pretty much are all good today, P-line, blood run, all the stren line, and on and on the list goes. Almost all the line today is much better than line 15 years ago.
  6. If you run it with a smaller paddle, as normally your running meat with Big A.. paddles, just drop down to the normal 8" paddle like for a fly and it will work fine. .
  7. Its more the Indian than it is the arrow..... just saying..
  8. Pick a starting point.... say meat and if you cant generate some strikes after a couple of color changes, by all means, go to a spoon or Fly n flasher. What gives you confidence is the best thing to run, just don't run it all day with no strikes that stubbornness.
  9. Use two rubber bands half hitched around the braid, then hook the rubber bands to the planer, you can go to 3 bands or down to 1 depending on weight of the line your pulling. Half hitch the rubber band 3X though (each one) so they don't slide. This although a pain to do works and will reduce the swearing on your boat substantially. I cant get anything else to work either on inlines with heavy lines, that's why we go to the otters many times.
  10. 40# isn't helping much with fleas, go to 50#. I have 40 on and its still a 10 min max soak its horrible.
  11. Stay away from the herd, to many boats bunching up will shut the fish off even if they are there. i had a stellar day, but got away from the herd, and fished meat rigs at 60 feet.
  12. Get the ugly stick trolling rod, biggest one you can deal with, put a twilly tip on it, run 300 feet of 50-pound braid on a Diawa saltiest 30 reel and put 200 (fill the reel the rest of the way) feet of braided SS wire on it with 60 feet of floro leader then slide diver it. Best set up you will ever have.
  13. Before buying all that gear that's hit and miss, get a meat rig ( white/clear glow) with clear 'ish" teasers (3) use it with a white paddle bigger the better. fish early and you will do fine. Or get a charter and save your time and trouble its almost cheaper... on downriggers is fine. They dont make flea flicker any more you need to clean lines at 20 mins max right now no short cuts.
  14. Most run straight to flasher with mainline. Often though you may use the same pole set up with spoons, so then it dose help to have some flor on it. So it matters when your spread changes, often for me if Fly and flasher is dead i want to put a spoon on, well my poles are rigged for spoons so there is floro on them so there is a fast transition from one to another.
  15. not unless you have one that has firetruck velocities your not blowing these off with water.... Could use a pressure washer I suppose.... might be worth trying with these buggers...
  16. Like Rich said the 50 to 60 foot rigger were on fire, total out of temp, but the fish don't read the internet so they don't know what they are supposed to do.... was a great meat day for me, crushed big kings on meat, surprising was the copper wasn't very active only two serious hits... rigger was on fire in the morning. Use something white in the morning and it will help..
  17. Two things I should mention number one the foam will never be wet on the top. You have to get to the bottom where the foam meets the boat hull and checked it very carefully. If it is wet it’s going to create corrosion and it will corrode through your hull eventually. With a piece of copper tubing push it down to the hull near the keel twisting it as you go. pull up A plug if you will, and check the bottom of the foam and see if has any water in it. The second thing I want to mention is a three-quarter inch plywood is going to make your boat extremely heavy you’re thinking no it won’t. trust me I’ve done two of these with three-quarter Inch and regretted both. The other four I’ve done with half-inch seven-ply, it was fine especially when you’re using epoxy and fiberglass. Way strong enough. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Epoxy isn't messy if your carful, pretty easy really for quallity of the end result. You need a few tools, not very expencive but needed, use the right rollers and get your stuff at . http://www.uscomposites.com You can call them and they will help you with all your questions and what you need to do what you want. Here are two pieces of my floor just before putting them into the boat.
  19. If you put wood down, then lay plastic (vinyl floor) over the top how does the wood dry back out? Its in a boat so it will get wet even if its from humidity, and once water gets under vinyl it will stay there forever. It will rot... Vinyl is for factories that only care about fast and easy. 1. take all out and dig out that foam, get rid of that, clean down to the metal good take your time. powerwash the after the foam is out, that will get the last bits of foam out. Foam traps water and holds it there. its awful, only reason its there is so they can advertise the boat as unsinkable, and its not anyway, so get rid of it. This is a big time consuming mess, so dont rush and try to hurry take your time you will be glad you did later when nothing is plugging up your sump pump. PS take all your pole holders out and do it right. 2. Paint Gluvix on any the seams at the bottom if it needs it, inspect, and repair with new rivets, any and all the bracing that you have now exposed. 3. Get some plywood from lows called AraucoPly 1/2 inch. It's almost identical to marine grade plywood at 1/3 the price, it holds up to boil for 45 min with no delamination and is 7 ply with no voids. DO NOT USE TREATED LUMBER OF ANY KIND> 4. lay it out and cut it and decide how you're fastening it to the deck. I used pan heads into the alum supports so I could remove it if I wanted to. Drill your holes a bit larger then needed so there is room for a coat of epoxy, then coat and paint epoxy onto every edge and hole of the wood top and bottom let that soak in, two coats on the bottom and edges. On the top I used 2 layers of fiberglass on the top (none on the bottom) with epoxy. finished it and painted it turned out perfect just like factory. This takes a bit more time to do it this way but only maybe 2 times as much but lasts much longer. And when you repaint the floor is brand new looking again.
  20. Go and look at Blood run, great hooks very reasonable.
  21. If you find some or decide to get some made let me know I would like a few of these as well. PK
  22. You need to look up some Gluvit. Its made to fix what you have. Look it up..
  23. First get away from using general terms like "a lot" of water. 5 gallons, 10 gallons, what are we talking, everyone has a different opinion on "a lot". If you have 5gal in an 18' boat its not a huge deal. Your water can be hiding in the bow till you put it on a trailer. You can run a hose in it when in your yard and see where its leaking right on the trailer but don't put so much water in it you overload the trailer so your limited a bit. You know the normal things to check, and its probably one of those things, once you find it, its an easy fix. sounds like your leak is "higher" in the boat.
  24. You can’t look at you roter cap from the outside and tell anything. You need to take it off and look inside Fuel filters yearly yes and often the rest is all reasonably priced Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  25. If you have lots of patience, time, and strong small fingers you can do it. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
