  1. Thanks for the report! Just put in today and heading out this afternoon.
  2. I recently bought a 2013 Lowe FM 185 Pro WT as an option to take out on other lakes when Lady O is too rough for the salmon boat. Getting started thinking about how I want to trick it out and have a bunch of ideas. The sides have a low profile gunnel track but very few products advertised that will fit that. Any suggestions for things that have worked for you guys? Thinking three rods on each side and ond downrigger per side. Thanks, Dave
  3. Roger that, thanks. Very possible it ran into the dipsy wire.
  4. Thanks for the replies. Generally don't turn too sharp but I am using pancake weights. Curious how that might be causing it. They seem to track great.
  5. Hey All. I know I read a thread about coated downrigger cable getting shreaded and can't find it to see what the solution was. I put a new Depth Raider on at the end of last year, meticulously, and the cable was shot after 5 times out! Put it on a Cannon Mag 10 HS. I think someone put a pulley inline to center the cable, different brand, etc. ? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance. Best, Dave
  6. Message me if it’s yours. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. Picked up this trophy in close before heading out for a few Lakers yesterday. Didn't quite have the fight left in him. Pretty sure if it had an address it would be directly in front of the nuke plant discharge pipe. Tasted delicious nonetheless. jk :)
  8. I’ll take them. Where about are you? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. 2nd that! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. I have it networked to my Garmin chartplotter so I can easily cursor over to a point and have the AP navigate directly to a specific waypoint. Pretty nice and essentially free if you have a chartplotter with NMEA 2000.
  11. I went with Raymarine EV-200 AP to control the Octopus cable drive. Works perfect. PM me if you want more details. The cable connection is back where the linkage is for the power assist. Not a bad install at all. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. I’m going to try to get out too. Shoot me a text. Happy to share any intel if I find something that’s working. I’m out of IBay too. 585-746-9833. Good luck! Dave Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. That was a great one for me as well. Appreciate the post. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  14. Thanks all. I’ll report a solution as soon as I have one. Going to start with a compression test. More to come... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  15. Wondering if anyone has had similar issues with overheating. I have a 1999 Mercruiser 7.4 MPI with a 160deg. thermostat. Normal operating temp. at higher RPM's has always held steady at 175deg. I noticed that when I was winterizing it in the fall, I wasn't seeing water flow out of the two ports at the gimbal housing the way it should. I replaced the raw water pump housing, impeller and wear plate after backflushing the system several times. Good water flow after that and finished winterization. Come spring, seemed good for the first couple short trips. Ran out to the nuke plant from I-Bay to fish and while I was motoring back, the temp climbed enough to set the alarm off and the engine compartment was full of white smoke. Didn't want to chance it so I got towed back. Belt looked fine and still not sure where the smoke came from. I noticed a small drip coming from water pump. Pulled it apart and it was already showing signs of wear. Replaced the impeller, wear plate and housing again. Now, any time I go over 3000RPM or so, the temp starts to climb above 175deg so I back off. I heard the shaft seals in the raw water pump could be sucking air. I replaced the "entire" pump assembly hoping to squash the problem. Better, but similar. Coupled a clear hose onto the input hose going into the thermostat manifold and I can see dime sized air bubbles passing through so I know it is drawing air in from somewhere, just can't chase it down. My current situation is that i can hold 3800RPM and it seems to hold a temp around 180deg.... as long as I get to 3800RPM very gradually. If I try to plane quickly, the temp climbs right up. All I can think is that the suction is collapsing a hose or something and is restricting the volume of water? With the clear hose attached and discharging into my fish box, it has a consistent flow of water but it does not increase proportionally when I increase the RPM as I expected it would. It actually looses pressure. I replaced all of the bellows and upgraded the water intake hose/hard plastic elbow in the Spring, new thermostat, pulled risers (both free and clear), pulled circ. pump (looks fine), completely new raw water pump, I backflushed the system multiple times and checked the screens in the oil coolers, all clear. I even brought my compressor down and pressure tested everything inside of the boat while spraying every connection with soapy water, nothing. While I had the compressor there, I blew out all of the lines including back through the outdrive in case there were any mussels or anything. Everything seems unrestricted. I still fish multiple times a week but with this restriction. Any words of wisdom are appreciated! Thanks, Dave
  16. How deep did you make it? Heading out of ibay in an hour or so. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. Thanks. I will take a look and see what type I have.
  18. Mine, and my buddies have never worked as advertised. Hit or miss at best and we have both gone through their tech dept. and sent videos of the screen. Follow the calibration process and it sometimes makes it more believable and sometimes not. Certainly haven’t gotten mine reliable yet unfortunately. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  19. I have the high speed Mag 10’s as well, wire is fine but on my third mount in two years. Snubber sounds like a good tip to dampen the shock load from a heavy ball. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. I use the exact ones and have been pretty happy but only running two. Sounds like good advice above. Tangles? I put the port dipsy rod in the starboard dipsy holder. Don’t do that. Lol. Mess Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. Send them down head first. Usually wakes them up enough to get them to recover the majority of the time. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Went out for a couple hours tonight out of IBay North to 160’ and held North heading. Hit one nice king in 220’ on rigger down 35’ and lost a shaker king at 230’ on a 3 color down the shoot. Spoons. Went to 280’ and turned around and trolled back to 200’ and called it a night. Good luck Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. Seems like that has been the norm this week, blank screen but catching fish. This was cool to see but were lakers. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  24. I’m on year three at this big lake fishing after fishing for small lake fish my whole life. I finally have a well outfitted 28’ boat now and can consistently avoid the skunking but by no means able to compete with that video. If I can find active fish I usually have a good day. I need some knowledge on how the winds blow the water around, where the “warm water” comes from, trolling direction/speed best practices in currents and such if anyone wants to share. I’m out of I Bay. Went 9/10 on Saturday, 1/1 on Sunday and 2/2 today. Happy, sad,sad Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
