  1. As you stated, the creek is unusually low right now. The trout run up the creek from the lake to spawn, and then return to the lake. They have pretty much done that. Very few if any left in the creek at this point. The small fish that you are catching were born the previous spring and will move to the lake later in the year. Those fish are the future of the fishery, so I try to avoid them. You might want to try Naples creek. There may be a few more fish that haven't returned to the lake. Good luck.
  2. What they are thinking is what to do about the low level of success regarding the brown trout stocking in Canadice lake. It has been robust in recent years, with a very low catch rate. The forage fish population is good, so they're not sure why there is such a low harvest rate. It's a put and take fishery except for the lakers. Perhaps they'll consider rainbows again, or maybe landlocks. Just speculating.
  3. Yes. Though the docks weren't in as of last week.
  4. Is there something we can do collectively as LOU members as a form of protest? Perhaps a petition that could be signed on this site? Just a thought. This is maddening.
  5. I agree with Les. I'm on here because of the wonderful insight of so many as it relates to fishing. I don't agree with the opinion posted, but let's think about drifting some egg sacks!
  6. Thanks for your input fisherman21. I think you're right.
  7. April is coming, and I love fishing for finger lakes tributary rainbows. Been doing it for 40 or more years, tie my own spawn sacks, but I'd like to hear from some others that love this type of fishing. So, I have always believed in hiding my hook in my presentation when applicable, ie worms and egg sacks. I catch a few bows in the tribs, but I miss more than that. I see some guys walking the creeks with what looks like an egg sack hooked through the mesh only. This would prevent damaging eggs and getting a better hook set, but is less stealthy. Any thoughts?
  8. What a great story. Darn near teared up. Thanks for sharing. GO BUCS!
  9. Please remove this political post. Another dog and pony show for a person who is the biggest joke in the country.

    Canandaigua Fleas

I read a post on a non finger lakes thread, and it implied that the fleas were already present on Canadaigua. Does anyone have a report on this.
  11. The Carhartt Store on 5&20 has minnows. Call first to be sure.
  12. Launched a 16" sea nymph there a week ago. Better with a dock, but not a problem.
  13. Thanks fish, but I'd love to know how I put it on my favs, finger lakes only. I appreciate your reply. That's one of the things that I enjoy about this site. Sorta like a family.
  14. Hey guys, really stupid question. I have LOU Finger Lakes discussion in my favorites and I look forward to clicking on it every morning. I told my buddy to put the finger lakes discussion on his favorites, bur he can't find just the finger lakes link. I have it.... just can't tell him how to get it.
  15. I don't have a clue, but thank you for the report and the best you could do with a description. I look forward to hearing some opinions.
  16. I'll take your word for it. I'm not seeing them, but then again I sometimes see things that AREN'T there, so I'm sure it's me or my monitor.
  17. Shaped like a rainbow, head like a rainbow, but the tail looks a little to forked, and I'm not seeing any spots on the tail, even with a magnifying glass. Does have a lamprey scare though.
  18. You're who you are. You can't and won't change, nor will most of us. I have so much to say, but I'll restrain myself.
  19. Agreed. People need to take the situation seriously. Only an all out effort will have things return to normal. It sucks for everyone.
  20. I have been a diary participant for Hemlock and Canadice for over 30 years. Regarding the rainbows in Hemlock, it's always been a fragile fishery. I think the main objective should be to invest in Springwater creek to clear obstructions and create diggers and pools. I realize the logistical challenges and cost could make it prohibitive, but in a perfect world... The Rainbow fishing has been tough in the lake, but it's always been challenging. I am against stocking bows there because the current strain hasn't been tampered with, and with better spawning water, would do better, in my opinion. Also, forage fish seem to be down, as we seldom mark bait, and never the screen blackout schools we used to see, Regarding Canadice, the lake trout fishery seems fine. The stocking of browns has been going on for years, but good luck catching one. I have targeted them several times over the past few years, and have caught one. As far as rainbow limits, I think two is fine but should remain at one for Hemlock and Keuka. That's my two cents worth.
  21. Thinking about hitting Canadaigua at Woodville on Friday. Anyone know if the fleas are bad? Thanks. I'll post if I go.
