So I installed a brand new Lowrance Elite fs9. When I turn it on this is what I get for sonar. I can read the temperature but I'm not getting any readout. From what I've gathered online it will not read unless it's submerged in water. Some sort of safety feature. But my older Lowrance Elite TI does not do this. Has anybody had any experience with this. I'm hoping once I dump it into the water it will start reading. Thanks to all

I get no sonar readings on my Hook 7 unless it's in the water. Temperature, navigation both work but no sonar.

Select “more options” tab on the bottom of the onscreen menu bar and there will be a option to stop or start sonar in the next menu.

It is not good for the transducer for it to run for very long when it is not in the water
