Finally got my boat wet for some derby action. New to me is a Penn Yan 18’ 1978 with the original Chrysler outboard. Not sure how I became a two boat owner but I was running out of places to put all my lures so I said what the hey. With the snotty morning forecast we bought or time and waited for the wind to die down. Me and my two brothers in a 1978 boat with no fishfinder, no speed and temp and used OnX for gps. It didn’t take long to find some dandy browns and the second fish was 14 lbs on the scale. Nobody wanted to run in because the bite was on. Lost track of time and when I checked to see when the local weigh stations closed I realized we were not going to make it. Oh well, the ice cream on the way home and time spent with my brothers was priceless.

Way to go! The temperatures have set up all over the West end for a great brown bite. And I'll take family time over derby fishing any day.
