Hi, my trip report for June 11th to June-19 to Lake Nipigon. My old bones are just recovering from the ~ 1k mile drive, packing, unpacking, changing tires, etc. We had nice cool weather on our trip no big storms. However s always seems windy so we’re bouncing around a bit. Nipigo
n has 2 things going for it: very little access and it’s ~ 30 miles of very cold open water on the other side of a protective area we like to fish. As you move away into the deeper water 30 to 40 fow it’s becomes gin clear and has some very nice lake trout.

We both got several nice lakers at: 7#, 12.5# and 14+# pounds. In general Nipigon's a very cold, very deep lake with very little access. Only ~ 5 launches on the lake (that I’m aware of), that’s ~ 1900 square miles in size. We fished one of the lakes few massive cabbage beds. Once you’re over a 1/2 mile away from the rivers delta-with cabbage area the water drops from 62 degrees to 38 degrees. The big walleyes and pike love it in June, and some lakers as well. hope y like the photos'. Sorry for look not happy the wind was blowing hard and cold. Perhaps you'll enjoy a few pic's. The pike was a beast.
