600 copper on Penn 345 GT2

Recommended Posts

Does the Penn 345GT2 work as well as the 345GTi for a 600 copper and will it hold 300 yards of 50 PP? How has it worked for those of you that have tried this? I'm having difficulty finding a 345 GTi on short notice.

Oops, just found one.

Have you checked with Atomik? He might still have some, I got 2 GTi's from him this spring. If you or Kevin need one for this weekend you can borrow mine just give me a call.

I bought (2) 345GTi's from Tom about a month ago, and he said he still had more of them (the American made models). I had mine pre-spooled with 600' of copper, backing, leader. Give him a call or go to his website to order. I love the reel!

Yes, the 345 GT2 holds it - just barely. I have 3 of them on my boat and one of them is a 600 copper with 300 yards of 50# Power Pro. Put it on the reel TIGHTLY! I actually like the GT2 better than my old 345 GTi's. Drags seem to me to be just as good and the clickers have held up a lot longer than on the old American made GTi's.
