first trip of the season

Recommended Posts

HI All,

i mostly fish the fingerlakes but like to hit Lake O at least once each year for some bigger fish. I usually fish out of sandy creek.

my experience is that the bite is usually very early and then not much else happens after 9:30 or 10a. Is that your experience too? I'm wondering if i should fish all day or do what i normally do (fish from first light till 10 or 11a then call it a day)

thanks,

dre

PS - from reading the posts, it seems the temps have been moving a lot - any idea what depths the kings are now/tomorrow?

Not so.... Wifey and I got out on Monday from 11 AM till 2 PM. off Braddocks Bay. Fished 100 to 140 FOW, good temps were 80 / 100 ft. down...2 for 3, knock off on a Apex 5.5 stinson, small king on a purple B. Fuller, 22lb. king on a 10" green spinny with a home made green/gold/black 6" fly. ....at least 6 other boats off Rochester  all afternoon.

The best time to fish is when you have time to fish... I don't care what time of the day it is......

If I stay home, my catch  rate is zero...

Just my $.02

there is usually a lull in the action mid morning as they digest from the morning feed, but the fish get active again early afternoon.  A LOT of big kings are taken at 1:00 in the afternoon.
