Hatchery return

Has anyone been to Altmar ? I wonder how the salmon run is progressing Hearing conflicting reports. Lots of salmon or few salmon. Both can't be right.

Very few salmon in the hatchery at this point, just like last year. They are a couple weeks late, most still in the lake.

I hope contingency plan is all set, as this fall is very much like 2007.

We went Saturday to the open house,the first part of the ladder where the gate is to let fish in was full,the next section had some fish and the rest of them to the stream had a fish or two in them.we watched the fish jumping up the ladders and noticed a lot of small fish,there were some monsters in there,but saw a lot of small ones.

The smaller fish you saw were most likely cohos. There has been a small bunch that seem to go up everyday, 20-40 a morning, and most are cohos. In front of the river is loaded up with cohos right now, should be a good push coming soon.

Was also were there Saturday. Very few fish in the ladder compared to previous years at this time. Better hope we get the rain and colder weather predicted! Mr. Burke may have a better idea how many in the river pools!

Was there yesterday....loaded with cohos in final tank....not much for kings...very few actually
