  2. Maybe you switched the position of the sharks or you accidentally bent something on one of them. Another solution would be getting rid of the sharks (I hate them) and switch to torpedos
  3. So in 10 years on the lake I’ve never crossed downrigger cables til last weekend. A few times the cables caught each other and every time the lures tangled. We were fishing 110 and 135 down on each rigger most of the weekend with the 12lb sharks I’ve always used. I don’t no if currents were just that bad but it was happing time after time! I have a 9’ beam and even tried kicking both booms out the the side with no luck. Maybe gotta try heavier weights but I can’t figure out why all of the sudden!
  4. They were really pretty scattered last weekend 500 was out best but heard of good numbers in 6-700 also took fish every morning when I set down in 250 fow
  5. too much??.. anyone want both for free?.... come get them, hate to throw them away. They sell for $100+ these days...

  7. I have one manual Downrigger. Don't have room on the other side. what are my options outside a rigger that can get my lures down to 120-140 feet? I have a wire rod and another mono rod. i want to run cowbells because I've had success with the one rigger. Should I use a three way swivel? Bottom bouncing weights? can I get a reccomendation on best practice for my options on how to functionally get that lure down? Looking for recommendations on lures, weights, rods, lines, etc. I appreciate the advice!
  8. Thanks for the report! My wife and I fished Saturday evening 7/25. 500-650 was on fire. We had every rod in our 6 rod spread fire at one time. NO TANGLES! lol dipsy bite was strong. Standard on a 1 setting out 305 feet. Riggers down 110-120. All meat bite. May have had 20 bites in 3 hours.
  9. I have a fish Hawk and smart troll. Smart Troll is more versatile. I Run both systems together. Smart troll probes on my divers and the fish hawk on my riggers. IF I had to choose, I would go with the Smart troll system because it is more versatile.
  10. I will be out working a charter out of Bald Eagle Thursday through Saturday. Just east of the Oak. Happy to share what we find. Will PM you my cell number. Welcome to text me.
  11. Survey is a must on any used boat. It could save you thousands and lots of headaches.
  12. Anyone fishing out of Oak Orchard (Point Breeze) this coming weekend want to work together. text Kem @614 288-9637. Staying at Lakeside SP
  13. I may be over steping by posting but if anyone is wanting to get into rigger fishing or just wanting to upgrade to electric is goingv to be hard pressed to find a better buy. I remember when I decided to go electric after years hand cranking the heavy weights up. The 1st week I spent most of my time kicking my behind for not switching years ago.I of hand-crankinghard-pressed,,overstepping
  14. Awesome! And thanks for reporting too
  15. Was quite the fiasco. Hunter broke the rod early in the fight with that laker. When we got the fish to the boat Matt broke the net trying to get it over the transom. The net basket and the fish fell on the swim platform. Both guys jumped onto the swim platform and managed to get the fish and broken net onto the deck. Was pretty hysterical.
  16. Glad to see you are finally starting to come around to laker fishing Billy! When you are ready, I will give you a deal on Gambler Rigs!
  17. Agree with Whaler Those older I/O are expensive to fix. Also any Transom / stringer rot which also is very pricey to fix I had a 86 Bayliner Trophy . Over the years I had the motor , lower unit rebuilt . Also some Transom rot . Also the drive to motor shaft replaced . So I would do my due diligence . But I did like the boat .
  18. Decided the next few days looked ugly so I made a solo mission out of the Genny on a 052 heading to 160 FOW. Lines in at 0950 and out at 1535. Fished from 160-220. Went 14-20 with some nice mature kings, some feisty two year olds, great steelies, and 4 skippers. My plan was to run two riggers with spoons and a dipsey with a meat rig... Today the current was running ~0.8kts SSW to NNE...but it was changing and it seemed that the fish were very speed sensitive. Trolling angle was important.. I put the deeper rigger down 92' with MUP'd Route 18 black/white green eye'd ghosts (super mag/mag) and took a rip in 2 min while putting down the other rigger. 13# king to warm up...Nice. Other rigger has Hulk 14's MUP'd (mag/std) at 78' and starts bumping within 30 seconds of being down....Double skippers! Never had that happen before... I didn't get the dipsey in the water until 1130... 10" SD Snowflake with Route 18 matching head. Deadly lately - I may have 30 kings on this set up in the past 5 trips. Within 5 min it was smoking and took my best king of the day...20 min later the fish was released with grace and I was smoked...Fishing solo is a lot of work!!! Snowflake rig back out and another ~14# king came around within 10 min. Then nothing 1200-1300 I didn't see a rod move and I was watching fish fly through my spread (panoptix)...Water was moving...Wind didn't change much...but holy **** my FishHawk couldn't read anything and my spread was moving all over the place...I tried to find the closest thing to straight and could only manage 2.9mph downspeed or higher. I don't mind going that fast but I didn't have the right spread for that. Okay - no more meat rig...MUP over - mags down, free sliders....Steelie time. And it was. From 1330-1530 it was pretty good with some great steelies and teenage kings... Im going to try to add some videos to this post. Please be kind - Im still learning and you all have been so helpful to me. 2skips.mov Steelie4 27 JUL 2026.mp4 bestking 27 JUL 2026.mov

  24. We fished the same days. Inshore, offshore and everywhere in between. Went through 40+ pieces of Rigged Cut Bait each day. Best there is. Boated twenty plus kings each day with nothing over 18. Amazing fishing but still frustrating. Last two hours we fished lakers with Gambler Rigs. Upgraded two of the fish in our box including this guy. Always Something was right next to us. The laker they found was bigger. Also caught on a Gambler Rig.
