  4. We only had 3 lamprey scarred salmon and zero fresh scars on about 40 salmon we caught last week out of Olcott.
  5. We took this one out of olcott bouncing 16-17lb unfortunately no derby ticket. The fish was harvested and we counted 17 undigested alewives in its belly.

  8. Older Lowerance that came with the boat. I have a newer Garmin but I haven't put it on because the Lowerance worked on Finger Lakes. But it doesn't read the ball like the Garmin does. Garmin when trolling we can see the ball and fish rise up to it( Not lake O tested yet)
  9. What's your setup? Head unit and transducer.
  10. Thanks for reporting the tagged Laker. If you want any information on it, send me a private message with the tag info and I can give you all the information I have on that fish if it’s one of ours. If you search for the post from Gambler about catching a tagged lake trout at Sandy Creek, you can read why we are tagging lake trout and what we are doing with that information. The external tag you saw indicates it has an acoustic tag inside the fish which is how we track them around the lake, sort of like underwater GPS.
  11. I have never had a fish on the graph but have had bites. Usually no fish, no bait, sens all the way up. It works on the finger lakes. I just assume these fish are streaking in from outside the cone. Is this common or should we be searching more for pods like we do for stacked Lakers in the finger lakes?
  12. And furthermore , we use to use CB radios , and VHF radios to communicate and everyone could hear . Inevitably , someone would get on and say he was getting into them on such an such a lure . Not hooking up , I would put one out . Then another guy would say I'm getting them on something different . It really wouldn't help and just add to the frustration . Point being , take advice for what it is and a grain of salt . Run your own program . Think about what you are doing . And build on that .
  13. I have two of these reels that the clickers are not working. Where can I buy parts to fix these?
  14. I’m from PA, spent LOT AND LOTS of time trolling with charters on Lake Ontario and fly fishing tribs with friends over the years. I troll a lot here in PA for browns, freshwater Stripers and Walleyes. There’s some pretty cool stuff for sale in the classifieds that I can’t find around here anymore. I’m not a social media guy and this is the first forum I’m be ever joined, not sure how buying stuff through classifieds works.
  15. They look exactly like what I’m looking for, I’ll buy them. No clue how this works

  18. I think when you decide to go out , you need a starting game plan and a starting spot . From Oak to Bald Eagle ,to Sandy, I have about 6 . These are inshore areas that have some sort of structure or drop offs that more than anything else ,affect the current . There always ( as long as there is good water ) some fish on or around them . I fish that spot and gradually move out till I hopefully find fish . I team up with a few guys on here when they go and we text back and forth to eliminate water . Sometimes I'm on my own but I have confidence in my ability to find and catch fish . Finding fish is 90% of it . I really don't change lures a lot till I see some sort of activity down there . If you have proven lures down in the strike zone , you will probably hookup if they are active . Once you venture off shore it's a crap shoot . If you find fish it can be great , if not , a long ride. If the lake flips ,it basically your only choice to run offshore till you find warmer water . I start fishing at 65 during summer once the lake sets up and the lake flips .
