St. River Smallmouth Bass Fishing Fun with Family Took my daughter out this weekend and drown some worms. We worked 15-20 feet of water and she was trilled to catch 3 smallies, perch, couple sun fish and bunch of gobies. Here is one of her smallies before the entire family fell asleep. While I was out there later that same after noon with just me and the daughter, I ran into an old timer who came over to us (G3 boat) after hearing my daughter screaming for excitement of catching another smallmouth. He told me that he was looking at himself in the mirror 30 years ago back when he use to take his daughter out. He thanked us for bringing back the memories a little teary-eyed and drove off into the sunset. I'm not sure who the guy was or if he is a member of this site or not, but I would love to hear the rest of his story should I ever run into him again. Here is to many more father/daughter trips down the river

It's a good question Steve. I have not seen the smaller class fish yet this year however I think the high water should help with expanding and protecting the spawning areas. High water great for fishery, not so much for waterfront property owners. For example my uncles pond, which hasn't seen fish in 20+ years has exploded with panfish this year due to high water levels. The amount of new bait fish entering system has to be up from previous lower level years. It may be 5-7 years before we see Muskies in that 30"40" class that have benefited from water level changes but only time will tell. This is just my own theory so please take it with a grain of salt. Last three trips out we got 52", 54.5" and 50.5" this morning.

Otisco DEC to Host Public Meeting for Proposed Otisco Lake Boat Launch
BlueEye posted a topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
DEC to Host Public Meeting for Proposed Otisco Lake Boat Launch The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will host a public meeting to provide information and answer questions about its proposal to develop a DEC Boat Launch Site on Otisco Lake, located in the town of Spafford, Onondaga County. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the Amber Fire Department, 2223 Amber Road, Marietta. Otisco is the only Finger Lake currently without a public boat launch. The Otisco Lake Boat Launch Site will be located on former Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) land, just south of the causeway on the west side of Otisco Lake. DEC Fisheries management activities at Otisco Lake include: Annual stocking of 11,000 tiger muskellunge fingerlings (9-10” long); Biennial stocking of 44,000 walleye pond fingerlings (1.5” long); and Routine fish community assessments to evaluate stocking success and effectiveness of fisheries regulations. Onondaga County Hatchery annually stocks approximately 2,500 2-year old brown trout (13” long). The meeting will include a presentation about the anticipated Otisco Lake Boat Launch Site project schedule, in addition to facility design and operation. DEC staff will be available to answer questions following the presentation -
EverStart Maxx Group Size 29 Marine Battery
BlueEye replied to Bait Bucket's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Has anyone tried an AGM battery for trolling motors? If you can handle the price increase in an AGM battery, they are better suited for trolling motor use than your standard wet cell batteries. Sam's club has the same AGM batteries as West Marine at about 1/2 the price: West Marine: https://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--dual-purpose-agm-battery-105-amp-hours-group-31--15020258?recordNum=15 Sam's Club: https://www.samsclub.com/sams/duracell-agm-deep-cycle-marine-and-rv-battery-group-size-31dtmagm/prod3590232.ip?xid=plp3990105-auto:product:1:3 -
I just recently purchased and setup mine for my 24-V trolling motor setup. My marina was charging me an extra $200/year for electric so this seemed like a viable alternative that pays for itself after one year of use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VY36AOW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 So far it is has been great and they are very helpful when calling them on the phone with answering any questions you might have.

New Forum - St. Lawrence River | 1000 Islands Fishing Reports Hi LOU members - After many, many requests, here is the new forum dedicated to the St. Lawrence River system (all 700+ miles of it!). We fished the river this weekend out of Clayton. Water is still very high but we were able to launch and I took my girls out to drown some worms. We went through our full allotment and had some fun with sunfish. No bass, walleye or anything big to report - just enjoyed the scenery and time with the family. Will try to make it out back to next weekend for some musky fishing. Enjoy the new forum - Chad
