    All the above pretty much covers it. Some sort of positive dedicated antiphon valve inline to the kicker or a two way valve. Rule number one is don't solely rely on the primer bulb to do the job.

    Check the fitting size going into the separator and use a straight - tee to connect both the main fuel & antiphon to the kicker. It is normally 3/8 NPT thread.

    Recommended oil for that engine with a flat tappet camshaft was straight HD30W in this climate zone when it was built. Rotella T1 SAE30 would be my choice and can be bought at Tractor Supply or most automotive stores, or Mercurys 25w-40 oil. Both have additives to help reduce cam to lifter wear

    Be safe & put an anti siphon valve or dedicated one way check valve off the separator to the kicker or in the fuel hose to the kicker. Don't rely on just the inadequate check valve in the primer bulb alone. I have seen more than my share of blown or lean running main engines over the last 50+ years due to a faulty primer bulb.

    DEC reminds sunfish and crappie anglers that it is accepting comments on proposed regulation changes for these species through December 26, 2021. The proposals include: Reducing the sunfish statewide daily harvest limit from 50 to 25. Increasing the crappie statewide minimum size limit from 9 to 10 inches. Implementing an 8-inch minimum size limit and a daily harvest limit of 15 for sunfish in the following waters: Blydenburgh Lake (DEC Region 1), Lake Welch (Region 3), Canadarago Lake and Goodyear Lake (Region 4), Saratoga Lake (Region 5), Sixtown Pond and Red Lake (Region 6), Cazenovia Lake and Otisco Lake (Region 7), Honeoye Lake (Region 8), and Silver Lake (Region 9).     On the port side, look in behind where the shift cable anchor is & pull the small hitch pin clip out. Push the shift anchor/cable end in under the carb to the port side of the engine & your shift rod will be released

    Raymarine discontinued the SportPilot some time ago and I wouldn't recommend buying a used one. There are other affordable units out there that will serve you well. Hyd or cable steer?

    From past overall experiences I would steer clear of Jasper. There are several very good company's that deal strictly with marine rebuilds and/or new long block assembly's, one being the for mentioned Michigan Motorz & another is Marine Engines Inc. out of Mass. If your going that way I would both consider the difference in price between a new vs rebuilt long block & also stepping up to a 5.7 over the 5.0 while your at it.
