    Sorry for your loss Matt. I just saw this. I have a 12 1/2 year old lab and dread the day this happens. They are part of the family.

    I fish out of sandy which is miles west but I can see the thermalcline movements before I go. I have also learned even more about wind direction and affects on the thermalcline. I usually call work when I get up in the morning to see what happened with the thermalcline overnight. Sometimes it is helpful and sometimes it is not.

    The coldest I have seen in five years was 33 degrees and that was last year. This year it stayed at 34 degrees all winter. Last season it stayed at 33 for a month and a half. The intake is in fifty foot of water. Three winters ago it did not get below 37 degrees.

    For the first time since December, the lake water temp coming in our intake at work went up to 35 degrees. It's not much but it is progress!

    Holy Sh*t. He was a little lost. I read an article about this not too long ago!

    Another issue could be the plugs. I was told if there is any kind of corrosion on or in the plugs, it can cause these types of problems.

    I used Interdecks from West Marine. Durable paint and it is easy to apply.

    Yes Steve they are and then they are weighed on a scale and magically they lost tons of weight from the time they were caught and weighed on a scale. In all seriousness, big browns 12 - 16 lbs are caught often in Lake Ontario but it would be nice to see slob browns over 20lbs. more often.

    They stock them in Lake Michigan with no issues. No reason NY should not be able to make it work.

    Not yet. It might be good in a day or two. It is frozen just past the launch.

    I blew two circuit boards in my one mag 20. The cause was my fault. The little rubber boot the covers the switch had a crack in it. Water got into the switch and caused a short. Once I replaced the rubber boot, the problem went away. I just replace those riggers after 13 seasons of abuse. Those riggers saw a ton of stress dragging bottom for lakers with only the one rigger burning up 2 boards. The other two riggers were bullet proof.

    Matt and I are going to wrap the Jon boats we have sitting in out yards and and slab a board on the back with some PVC rod holders!

    Come west to sandy. You will spend less money in gas and slip fees. Less sailboats and rec boat traffic. Oh and less crime......
