  1. Stealhead4748, Here is what I do- I run 30 lb Seagar Florocarbon leaders for spoons and 50 lb. Seagar Florocarbon leaders for flashers and flies. In my opinion, you don't need snubbers. Some guys run them but I find I lose more fish with them. Keep the drag loose enough so the line clicks out. Use 2 small rubberbands half hitched around the wire and then around the reel to keep it from clicking out. Once the fish hits, the rubberbands will break. You adjust the drag to your liking and fight the fish.
  2. Seasquirrel, Is that the one from Irondequoit Bay?
  3. Both of those fish would of placed high in the LOC derby that ended yesterday. Thats a pretty good weekend if you ask me. Good job.
  4. Selling a Hoppes Clay Pigeon thrower. It is in good shape. I'm asking $25.00. The clay pigeon thrower needs a new screw to hold the trigger or the old one needs to be filed down. I have a set of car ramps. $10.00. They are in good shape. Both items are pick up only.
  5. Hopefully the green water we have seen this August is from the plankton levels on the rise in the lake. With all the bait on the finder today, I would not be suprised if the lake is not turning around big time. We will see. If the DEC says the bait population is down, they are crazy. There was more bait than I have every seen on the lake. Everyone was talking about all the bait on the radio this morning.

  8. Fished the last morning of the derby today. Left the dock at 0500 hrs. and back to the dock at 11:30. Trolled 90 -120 in the dark and did not move a rod. The screen was unbelievable. Once the sun came up, had a knock off on the Green Glow J plug down 80 in 120 FOW. Turned out and hit 180' and the Diver at 240 on a 3 with a Live wire Spin Doctor and the Green Crinkle A-Tom-Mik and the 400' copper took off with a Stinger NBK Stingray. One king was 20 lbs. and the other was 18 and really dark. Worked between 180 - 350 for the rest of the day and ended up 9 for 12 with 8 kings and 1 steelhead. 2 shakers, 4 10-12 lbers, and the 2 above. The steelie was about 5-6 lbs. The one diver rod took 5 of the fish. One the way in, we had a really hard hit on the diver rod. It hit so hard, the rod hit the downrigger boom. By the time I got to the rod, the fish was gone. After inspecting the A-Tom-Mik Green Crinkle fly, I noticed the treble on the tourney rigged fly was missing. That fly barely had any tinsel left on it. It has seen 3 seasons of abuse and caught many fish. Oh well. Time to place another order. Ended up fishing 4 days of the 17 day derby because of a lot of overtime at work. Hopefully next year I can get some time off during the derby. Congrats to all the people that placed in the derby. Missdemenor, Triple S, and Trout N about, way to represent Sandy Creek with 1st place finishes. I will be out a couple more times before the boat gets pulled for the season to get a new transom put on it.
  9. This was posted on the Spoonpullers website by Kwikfish. Very intersting videos about the salmon problems on the West Coast. http://www.callingfromthecoast.org/
  10. There is tons of food in the North end for the tigers and northerns. The North end is loaded with bluegills all the time.
  11. Sindale, Fish the North end, West side of the lake outside the weedlines throwing spoons, sticks, spinners, or spinnerbaits for pike. If that does not work, troll the deeper edges of any of the points with deep diving cranks for big pike.
  12. My buddy said the weeds never came in that great in Conesus this year. he said the weeds that came in are junk. The bass fishing has been a lot slower on Conesus this summer for most.
  13. Mykey, Do you have the Charters boat name? Someone here can get the message to the Charter Captian if you have it.
  14. All right, Whats your favorite size and color and why? My favorite is the size 3 in glow or bloody nose silver bullet. I like the size 3 because they catch more of the other species along with the Kings. I have only caught kings on the size 4's. I like the glow first light and then the bloody nose once the sun is up.
  15. My vote is opposite hole. Look at a combo in the water next to the boat and see the difference. The fly has way more action on the opposite hole that Yankee Troller and BillyV were talking about.
  16. How about a tourney like KING ME was talking about and a separate summer long Grand Slam type tourney. I think it is a great idea to have the big fish bonus that King Me was talking about. I will vote for the 3 fish format first but would love to see both as separate tournies. I like the grand slam style tourney because it forces you to be a diverse fisherman.
  17. It was not Jax. One of the guys slipped next to me saw you. I had to call Jax to make sure he was not holding you hostage forcing you to fish lakers.
  18. Longline, I was thinking the same thing about the D&C this past weekend. The outdoors section had something boring (I can't remember what). Not a thing about a Derby that brings a lot of money in tourism to the area. Missdemeanor, If you guys need a rep from Sandy, Count me in. I will be more than willing to lend a hand.
  19. Congrat on your fish Steve. I called Keith right after I saw your fish on the board when I was at work.
  20. Nice fish Motoman. What lure did he take?
  21. Most guys start running them in mid August. You can run them off of anything, leadcore, copper, riggers and dipsies. Remember they do dive some so run them short enought that they will not tangle.
  22. Come on Tom, give the guy a break. He will still buy your flies to cover up the fact that he is now a laker fisherman!!!!!!!
  23. Whats next FISHINMAN fishes lakers?
