  1. Were you in the red and white crestliner? My father talked to a group of 3 guys before I arrived at the launch. Slow day of us. 8 hours of casting and 1 follow and one hit. Trired smallies and they were not cooperating. Marked lots of bait all over the lake.
  2. Kopperklad, There is another little parcel of stateland down the road from where I used to hunt on Bear hill in Rushville. Nice little spot with very little pressure. Saw a lot of nice deer taken out of there over the years.
  3. Thanks Tim.
  4. Anyone here if the DEC got the quota for next years stockings?
  5. SG, I got my icefishing stuff out 3 weeks ago. I'm chomping at the bit.
  6. Bob, I run 2 26" bags and they get me down to laker speed easy. I have a 22' Starcraft (Fiberglass).
  7. Nice pics Steve. HAd to be neat feeding the Tarpon by hand.
  8. The bottom one could be a Gander Mountain Crippled Alewive. If it is, change that split ring. They were horrible.
  9. Very nice picutres. That brown in the 2nd picture is really awesome looking.
  10. Diawa Sealine 47 lca's. Best reel for that price range IMO. I have had the Diawa Sealines for 16 years and they are very dependable.
  11. You can use both off the same side but I tend to go with one or the other. In the spring, I run a copper off of one side for deep fish and a couple rods of the other board for high riding fish. You can use drop weights and rubberband or clip them to the line.
  12. I tried that and the filets had a very strange smell when I thawed them. Brian, I believe that smell is called Lake Trout Sorry Nick, I don't eat lakers . I give them to my neighbor. It was walleye filets when I tried it. I thought FISHINMAN would have beat you to that one.
  13. Blue, The offshore stuff is good into late November most years. Run normal trout and salmon stuff. Spoons and flashers and flies will produce. Find the thermalcline and rig above it. The fish at this time of the year can be all the way to the surface.
  14. Let the lure back say 100'. Take the line (on the rod) twist it making a loop. Clip the loop into the release. This will keep the light from the rod to the release from slipping. If the middle rod releases, send the closest rod to the boat to the spot where the middle rod was when the fish hit. Once you have reeled in the fish, let the rod out and then clip it in a release and send it out to the spot where the closest rod was before you sent it out the middle spot after the fish hit. I would start in the spring with mono flatlines for browns until you get proficient before trying copper or core. I usually run 3 or more rods off of one board. I run my boards out 100 - 150 to the side of the boat if the boat traffic is not too heavy. space them equally apart down the plainer line.
  15. gaj, 1- let the line attached to the release out as far as you want and it will stop. Make sure you put a couple twists in the line (making a loop) before attching the line to the release. 2- Once the middle line releases and the fish is straight behind the boat, let the inside line out more to the spot the middle rod was running. 3- I run mine on the gunnels. Jus tbecareful that the plainer tow line does not lift a rod out of the rod holder and drop it in the drink.
  16. Very nice tiger. They are the best looking fish in my opinion.
  17. I tried that and the filets had a very strange smell when I thawed them.
  18. My father contacted Dave Chilson and it was sent to the wrong address (mistake on my fathers part). Dave is reissuing the check. Thanks for your replies.
  19. Billy, I hav ehad my food saver for 6 years now and love it. When freezing fish, make sure you dry the filets off really good before sealing or the seal will not seal all the way.
  20. Happy Birthday Billy.
  21. Has anyone recieved there checks yet?
  22. Gustofson, The only real consisantcy I have found is through the ice. My buddy has caught a couple in the upper 30's in early October fishing along the weedlines for pike. Another buddy has caught a couple suspended trolling walleyes in the north end.
  23. A 3/0 hook is a little big. That will make you eggsack sink to the bottom. You don't need big hooks. size 4 or 2's are plenty in singles. I like size 6 trebles for sac fishing.
  24. I was there on Wednesday and put 5 pike in the boat (26,28,30, 34, 39). Lots of follows. Had 6 other fish on that came off. Had a nice tiger follow to the boat boat would not hit. Also caught 11 largemouth. Right along the weedline in 15-18' was best.
  25. I like keeping my sinker 3' - 4' from the sack. I have found I get way more hook ups this way.
