Rob, The guy on Center Rd in Kendall is no longer doing it anymore. Sorry.

Rob, There is a guy out on Center Rd in Kendall. His name is Howard. He is just South of RT 18. I will get you the phone number and post it later today.

Chinook, What is it about? Youtube is blocked for me at work.

carv0, I hear ya on the bait cost. I spend a fortune on bait during the icefishing season. It sucks but it is here to stay. I was just as upset when it first happened. After seeing the die off of walleyes on Conesus (my favorite icefishing lake), it made me rethink what I thought about the regulations.

I do not fish the Pro Ams because of the cost of traveling, gas, docking fees, and lodging. I'm looking at fishing at least one this summer with my buddy. I have mentioned this before but everyone jumped all over me, add a Monroe County Pro am. This way more of the Rochester area guys that can't afford to trailer their boats and pay for lodging could enter. I know this will screw up the lake cup but I think it would get more people to enter that had not entered before. I would do it in a heart beat. I have read the rules and agree with most. I don't really like the no cull rule for the earlier tournies. I think a cooler full of skippers makes for a less competitive tourney. It makes it more competitive when you have to make the decision to throw it in the cooler for points or throw it back and risk a limit.

Mike, Diver rods are made to support the weight (pull) of a dispey diver. As for line, I would go with 1000' of 30lb stainless steel wire. I prefer Malin brand wire. You can also use Mason brand wire. The spools run around $50.00. Mono will not get you deep enough in the summer time for the most part.

carv0, These bait regulations are to keep VHS disease from spreading to other lakes rivers and streams. Yes the new laws suck but I would rather deal with new regualtions over losing or damaging a fishery. Would you be happy if someone caught minnows out of an affected waterway and introduced them to these rivers? It is a statewide ban to keep everyone honest. People would catch bait out of an affected area and say they caught them somewhere else to save a buck. In a perfect world, selecting certain affected waters and banning bait would work. Unfortunatly we live in a society that has a ton of skumbags living in it. People don't care about anything but themselves. I have seen the damage in Conesus Lake and Lake Ontario. Lots of dead fish floating up all over the place. In Conesus, it seems to affect smallmouth bass and walleye the most. Conesus had 4-10 lb walleyes floating up on the shore daily in June a couple of years ago. Lake Ontario muskies, smallmouth, sturgeon, and other species took a hit from VHS. VHS seems to have died off mostly or completly. I have not seen the damage the past couple of Junes.

Like the guys said above, read this site and ask questions. I used to fish the lake in a 14' aluminum boat. The Spring LOC derby is a great small boat derby. We used to bang the shore for browns during the spring derby and do really well in the derby. You are very versitle with that boat. You could trailer it to the bar and fish kings and lakers or stay around your home port and bang the shoreline for browns. You will have to pick your days but thats all part of the fun.

If I were you guys, I would stear clear of Conesus Saturday. There is a big bass tourney there. I was going to go with my father but decided to go perching instead. That place will be a zoo all day. The pike were 15 - 18 the other day. For bigger ones, fish deep edges of the drop offs.

I cover mine with a tarp and 2x4 frames that I made. I took saw horse brackets and added 2 x 4's to then. These are my upright supports. I then put 2 12' 2x4's together to make 1 24' 2x4. I place the 3 supports equally down the middle of the boat. Place the 24' 2x4 in the supports and screw them in. I also put carpet on the bottom of each 2x4 to keep it from damaging the boat. Drap tarp over it and tie it tight to the trailer. I had to put carpet on the corners of the windshield and other corners. It was really cheap and kept all the snow off. I made it 5 seasons with the same tarp and framing.

The pike/tiger musky fishing was slow. The smallmouth were going really good.

WWIV, The bay was not the only place. It was blowing right up the gut on Conesus when I was there pike and bass fishing today.

Last trip of the season...
GAMBLER replied to Skunk'd Too's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
I would try the river mouth at first light and then head off shore. It sounds like temp is really deep way off shore. Look under the reports page and look at pikehunters report. It sounds like the 70' or less zone was best. -
Jack, Buy 3's and 4's with and without rattles. Some days one works better than others.

I'm really suprised to see the City of Rochester acknolwedging fishing. The county and city do nothing to promote fishing. interesting.

Move your boat out of Irondequiot Bay. I had the same problem in the bay until I moved to Sandy Creek. For what ever reason, the zebras don't get in my drive now. I talked to my old mechanic and he said there is nothing you can do about it. They get into the drive in the larva stage and grow in there.

Sparky, I sent you a pm to see if it a guy that I have delt with many times in the past. I run into a lot of guys that are fishing salmon and steelhead on really light tackle. I don't mind stopping and letting them fish through. If them move out of the spot, they loose it. I also hate when they hook a fish and it is 200 yds. downstream and they do not go with it. It really stops your fishing for a long time. I would have done the same thing you did. The guy does not own the trib he was fishing on so once he left, the spot was anyones for the taking.

You Bills fans are lucky there are 2 halfs to a football game. If there was not, the Bills record would be a lot worse. If they play this way against a good team, they may find them selves too far behind to come back.

There are no gobies in Conesus (yet). Hopefully some one does not put them in there. There is a heathly population of alewives in Conesus. They are a lot smaller than Lake Ontario alewives.
-
The Ottawa River has a healthy population of muskies. It is one of the best rivers for numbers of muskies. Lake St. Clair and the 1000 islands are 2 other great musky fisheries. If you want numbers, I would say the Ottawa river or Lake St. Clair. For a chance at a true monster, I would go with the 1000 islands.

That explains why he had me put a 110 outlet in his boat!

How long do ya think till they set their sights on us?

Could you imagine what the names would be of thier new flavors? -
The peanuts will hang the bottom if you drag the ball on the bottom too long. My favorite colors are blue glow, blue and silver, and green glow. Don't forget about spin and glows. They work good too. B&E tackle in Wayne county, and Jay-Ve tackle in Rochester has them.

Jax, How early did you have to get up to get your hair ready for fishing?
