  3. Gun season seems to bring out the worst of people.
  4. A subject i can talk all day about... Overall its been a great year for me. After back to back seasons which were borderline awful maybe it was due. I really paid attention to the Early November weather pattern and chose to hunt hard the second week of November. High pressure, frosty am temps, and light winds made it the best (and most consistant) 10 days of the hunting season so far. Deer activity resembled the seek/chase phase perfectly with numerous big bucks sighted on stand during daylight hours. Weather i believe is the most overlooked piece of the puzzle when looking to hunting the rut. Consistant weather keeps the deer movement consistant (just like fishing). Less then ideal weather conditions for the past 2 weeks have put a serious damper on daytime activity and the wind forecast over the next couple of days is 25-30 west winds w/ gusts 30+ mph is sure to put deer on lockdown and even evening feed spots will be vacant till after the sun goes down. Overall deer sightings for the season have been down for me. Doe/fawn numbers seem to be lower than previous years and 1 1/2 old buck numbers seem to be really low. "Shooter" buck (100+" and outside the ears) numbers seem to be up. My game cams have also confirmed what i have witnessed in the field. Any theories from anyone on that?

  7. I called cannon # to see about replacement cables and the woman told me that they are only covered under warranty for one year. I tried to explain how bad the cables were. She then offered me the "new and improved cables" for $54 each and said i shouldnt have the same problem with these ones.
  8. Not much of a story here. Headed to wyoming county for the gun opener on saturday to hunt out of one of my favorite stands. First thing saturday morning i had this guy sneaking up behind my right shoulder from the field edge. He stopped 20 yards to my right, looked the opposite direction, and turned slighly quartering away. A single shot from a 12 gauge copper sabot dropped him where he stood. 21" wide 9pt and 145# dressed (game club scale).
  9. Are you sure thats everything???? About time you fixed all the stuff none of us thought were even wrong!

  14. Friday November 12 34 degrees w/ heavy frost, SW wind 5-8, clear skies Well after 3 bow seasons of watching traveling bucks pass by me 30 yards out of bow range i finally got aggressive and changed one of my sets. I was unsure if the payout was worth the risk, until today, when this 8 pt gave me 2 opportunities to shoot him. About 7 am i heard a stick break behind my left shoulder and saw this guy coming through the woods. I quickly grab the bow and came to full draw anticipating his exit from the thicket. When he reach the face of the thicket he stopped and paused. It might have been the longest minute ever for me in the woods but he finally put his head down and entered the clearing. I placed my 30 yard pin behind his shoulder and touched the release only to witness my arrow fly in front of his chest about 2 feet. Not sure which branch was to blame but... a clean miss. Only slightly startled (him not me), he turned away from me and began to seek out what had made that noise in the grass, and eventually found my arrow. He quickly lost interest and began to fiercely work a nearby scrape (as i sat 40 yards away in defeat). After he was done with the scrape, (and to my amazement) he turned 180 degrees and started walking right back towards me. At 25 yards i stopped him with a mouth grunt and redeemed myself with an arrow through both lungs. I watched from the stand as the buck went down after no more than 20 yards.
