  1. the DEC will be issuing left over DMPs starting sunday Nov 1 http://www.dec.ny.gov/press/59293.html
  2. Last night (Oct 28), i hunted a stand that is on the edge of a 3 acre doe bedding area and borders a cornfield. At about 4:30 i had a 3 pt show up at my stand with his nose to the ground. He spent the next 2+ hours in and out of the bedding area on every trail he could find but i dont think anyone was home.
  3. This year is an example of a "classic" rut with the rut moon this year falling on Nov 2. So the first 2 weeks of nov should be hot.
  4. Well its been a little over a week into the season and i thought i would look for some reports. I havent seen a whole lot yet but I have gotten some reports of small bucks chasing does in the past 4-5 days. Yesterday, at about 9:40 am, i saw a 3 1/2 year old 8 pt (nice deer 110-120") traveling with a doe.
  5. Found this site and i thought i would share it. http://www.weather2hunt.com/local/
  6. im gonna go out on a limb here and say its a hoax. Like Chromeslayer said its been going around for a few months with a different place. One of the times it was labeled Batavia, NY.
  7. You know, i try to do things right. Scouting, scent control, stand placement, and i make sure to always hunt the right wind for every stand. So is it bad luck if...the very first thing of the deer season that walks past your tree stand is a SKUNK? Should i call it a season or should i hope that theres a Native American "good luck skunk" story out there somewhere that can save me?
  8. Good luck to everyone and lets see some reports and pictures. NE wind screws things up for me but ill be in one of my new ladder stands tomarrow morning bright and early.
  9. Michigan stinger divebombs work good too but im with Chinnok on this one copper is the way to go. 20 color leadcore is awful alot of line in the water.
  10. It can be done by your family doctor.
  11. 95% of what i run are j-plugs.
  12. So is everyone ready for the start of the 09 season? Hopefully the preseason scouting is done, the stands are hung, and the gear is prepped. Hopefully everyone will post their hunting reports and their success on here for all of us too enjoy. I havent seen any posts from the northern zone guys??? For all of us in the southern zone, where is everyone spending their bow opener and whats your hunting strategy?
  13. I do north up but i think its to keep things as simple as possible for myself and others on board.
  14. Chowder, Different fly action depending on what hole you use. Think of them as fast, medium, and slow action.
