  1. Call Moor at 1-800-876-4971 or 716-821-5304 www.moorelectronics.com I have their sale postcard in front of me, unfortunately the sale expired 2/16/09. 200' of 150# was priced at 27.95 regular price.
  2. I think that I saw it posted somewhere that Captain's Cove is opening on Apr 1? Sharon at Narby's might have it, but I'd call first.
  3. I usually register both trailers on-line about a week in advance of first use of the season. I print out the confirmation and carry that, then wait for the registration to come in the mail. Haven't been checked yet so I can't guarantee it wouldn't be a problem with authorities. It's pro-rated so I'm not paying for the months when the boats are sitting on the trailers in 3 feet of snow. This saves a few $ but I'm sure even this small break will be non-existent soon.
  4. The Oak site is a daily read for me, as I consider the Oak my home port. I've been reading their reports for many years now and am always bummed when he last report for the season is posted. I can't imagine the time and effort they put into the site. Riparians, if your read this THANKS.
  5. You might want to check out: www.iceshanty.com go to the NY reports section
  6. Years ago, on Oneida ice, I pulled up one of those pancakes out of Shackelton Shoals out of Cleveland or Constantia. I guess they used to dump these things out there. Still not sure what they're made of. Used to catch a few ling also. Some guys would pile them next to their holes and leave them. Burbot, I guess they're called. Now my brothers keep them, I guess they're pretty good tablefare.
  7. Way to go Eric! I can smell the venison kielbasa from here in WNY!
  8. Thanks for the reply TO. Anywhere near the launch to get minnows (emeralds or goldies)?
  9. Where's the best place to launch on the bay? Never been up there to fish but may try to put some perch in the pan. I'd be launching a 18' OB.
  10. Thanks for the reply. We had some crazy glue around the house and it seems to be holding well. I just didn't want to put too much heat to the shafts so I skipped the hot melt. I'm impressed with the increased speed with the carbons. Accuracy is very good with 100gr target tips, we'll see what it does with 100gr muzzys.
  11. I'm making the switch from aluminum to carbon arrows and have a question. What adhesive should I be using to hold the ferrule/insert into the shaft. In the past I've used Ferr-L-Tite hot melt on my Easton aluminum shafts but I don't know what heat will do to the carbon shafts. I don't want to damage the carbon shafts. Advice?
  12. How can I make 200' of 45# copper on a Penn 330 perform like 300' copper? I'm thinking of adding a snap weight to backing at knot to the copper. Would like to get an additional 22' down, somewhere around 66' down. I know it's speed dependent and lure type will affect depth. How much weight will give me my desired depth? Advice?
  13. Ray, only $500 for the brewskis?
  14. Geez guys, I didn't mean to start the same old controversy that goes on year after year. I just wanted the FALL rules clarified. Rules are rules and I'll follow them. Now, what about night fishin' with the full moon up? Fish caught after midnight should be eligible, right? We do walleye at night quite a bit. Never for kings. Might give it a shot but don't want to tangle with a waterspout like Pecos Bill at night.
  15. OK, now what are the minimums? I think it's 25# for salmon and 10# for trout in the fall? I'm sure all my answers are in the fall LOC newspaper but I haven't picked one up yet. Would be nice if fall specific info was posted on the rules tab where applicable.
  16. OK guys, am I the only one? I go to the LOC homepage to the rules tab and I only find weigh station hours for the spring derby. I also believe that the minimum weights are larger for the fall derby(?). Does LOC post rules for the fall derby somewhere where I'm not looking or don't they update for each specific seasonal derby? The reason I question is that I just can't remember the fall minimum weights and weigh station closing times. I think they used to close weigh stations at 8pm, which we really thought was a bit early. Let's say you hook up with a hog at 7:30pm and it takes 20 min plus to put it in the net. No way you're gonna make it in. If my memory serves me well, I think we were pulling lines at 7:30pm last fall.
  17. Duane, that straightened treble didn't happen to be a gammy #2 EWG did it? I've had issues with them straightening out this season. I really don't think I've excessively pressured fish as I always use a snubber on my wires. All my flies are tournament tied with the gammy as the treble and a 5/0 octopus single forward.
  18. The Oak is our home port as "DAYBREAK" is slipped there. We'll be out as much as possible, spend a few nights in the boat and set up a camp at the park for extended stays. Managed to get the next TEN days VACATION! Duane we've camped near you a few years back but lately just set up in the back G loop. Haven't been out in the last few weeks, it's been a good steelhead season but the near and mid water kings have been another story since late May. Probably 'cause we haven't made that long run to the 30N+ line due to the weather and cost of fuel. Daybreak on ch10.
  19. $4.46 at Lake Breeze at the Oak last fri. I'm glad that my 3.7 is gentle on the fuel. However I'll be real hesitant to run out 10 miles. I'm thinking these fuel prices are here to stay and will only climb higher. Can only hope it's a bubble waiting to pop.
  20. Same here. No report. That site is always my first daily read. Maybe their computer is down?
  21. Great pics Eric. Now you can put a pic of Ms Maniac besides Maniac and Maniac Jr. at the bottom of your posts! Our real trophies aren't the pics of the fish...it's the family and friends holding the fish. Good job!
  22. The Oak site has pics of geterdun, steeldan and tranny at the top of reports page. They say some of the shops have them in stock. Save a few for me. What's the deal with the SS spoons? Are they thin in thickness like a flutter or in profile as in width? Don't think I have any onboard yet.
  23. What is the best shaft length for a kicker? 20" or 25"? I have to go with a kicker bracket to mount on my crestliner sabre i/o. Mama says do it, how can I argue?
