  1. Rod is a top notch, experienced observer as well as a team mate fishing in a few proams. A team would be fortunate to get him. Good luck Glen
  2. I've seen seagulls feeding on dead salmon on the surface a few times before. I've accidently dropped a couple dead ones in the lake getting ready to fillet them. Circled and netted them back up. They floated. Was out with Chris (Traveling man) one day and we both wanted meat so we kept our three salmon a piece. Water was like glass. He was handing them to me and I was cutting. When we got done there was 6 equally spaced carcusses over about 1/4 mi or so, all in a nice neat line with a slight turn that the boat took. All six were floating Dropped a dead Brown in one day taking a picture before filleting and that one sunk. Certainly not any hard core evidence, just what I've seen over the years. Glen
  3. If you got to use a net you got to use a net. Lots of HARD CORE c&r fly fishermen use nets all the time. In this case it's what happens after you net the fish will determine the chances for a successful release. Plop the fish on the floor of the boat and let him beat himself half to death probably aint a good thing. What do you think Ray. Glen
  4. You will catch fish all the time with scars from eels all over them. Some die most don't. These fish are not as delicate as some would have you believe. Proper release techniques have been discussed at length on this board. Do a search and you will get all kinds of information on this topic. Glen
  5. Where are you fishing and what are you fishing for? Glen
  6. We were right next to you near Catfish, Sunday. We did pretty dang good, but there was more fish on the the side of the plant, but more boats as well. Heard of tempers being pushed to their limits there. I don't find a need to deal with a lot of the ignorance out there. Just got to do a little work and find some fish out of the traffic. It's worth it. Good fishing. Glen
  7. My pleasure Kevin. Glad you had a good day. Might take you up on that Eye trip someday. Glen
  8. It was good fishing with you Rod. Rodneys report was pretty accurate and there was abosolutley no exaggeration on Sundays numbers. Saturday was tough for us only boating around 9 fish but we made up for it on Sunday. This spring has been phenominal in the Bay. Heres some pictures of the bigger fish. OK Got um? Good fishing Glen
  9. I've had to replace the long cable that runs from the readout to the antenna twice in about 8 years or so. The internal connection in the plug broke from plugging and unplugging every trip as I keep my electronics in the cabin when the boat is not in use. Might want to check that. Glen
  10. 8 hp high thrust would work. Glen
  11. Nice job getting the boy on a fish. Glen
  12. Well I am making some progress. John at Johns Tackle in Mexico, being a Friend of the fishermen that he is, has offered his services to help us out. John is a great guy, as well as a fishermen, and has a nice shop full of fish catching tackle. If your in the neighborhood make sure to stop and check out his shop and say thanks for the offer of his help. There is still alot of work to be done and I just don't have the time to do it all. I'm thinking we should set up a committee of 4 or 5 guys. Particularly someone who has some time and lives up by the lake to help us out. Otherwise this probably won't happen this year and I can work on it over the winter for next season. I have gotten some interest and offers from around the lake and a committee is needed to coordinate things and get the ball rolling if it's going to happen this season. Jeb1340 has pmed me with a very interesting possibility out by the Niagara River and Troy at Sodus point bait and tackle has shown alot of interest in getting something going in Sodus. Thanks to both of you guys. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to coordinate all this and need some help. Anybody interested in getting involved, please post or pm and we can hopefully put something together for this season. I'll be doing some more sniffing around at some Marinas the Mexico area when I'm up the weekend of the 14th. Glen
  13. Hot soap and water. Car wash soap is what I use and slimy grimy for season long stuff.
  14. I'll give you the three Accudepth rods for $50.00 if your interested. You pay shipping or pick up in Mexico on a weekend. Glen viewtopic.php?f=10&t=29872

  16. Happy Birthday. Hope it's a good one. Down hill from here. Glen
  17. Hell you got to pass a test to drive your car. Been out on the road latley? Like someone already said, You can't fix stupid. Glen
  18. Any of you Scotty guys found a good replacement cord for the weight retrievers? I find after a couple seasons the cord wears and doesn't grip very well when you have the weight hanging by the side of the boat. Anybody else have this problem? Thanks Glen
  19. Happy Birthday Brian Glen
  20. Troy, Thanks for your response. Actually I made some good progress today in Mexico Bay Just got back from the lake and the Trout fishing is phenominal. I will be posting a new thread on it tomorrow and I will definatley pm you also. Right now I'm suffering from jet lag after 2 days fishing solo and the long ride home. Thanks Glen
