  1. If Paul didn't tell you, I have a lot of free time in the next month. Get a hold of me and we'll make it out some morning.......French
  2. Haven't been out in a week, so we started at the 120ft mark and worked our way out. The temp was way down. We had 49 degrees at 102 down. Had some decent marks down in the 80-100 ft, so we dropped the rigs down. Ended the morning at 1000 we were 7 for 7. We had 5 kings up to 17Lbs. Most were in the 6 -8 lb class. We had one smaller Steelie(6 lbs) and one LT about 14. The funny part of the day was pulling that chicken with 160 ft of cable out over 230 feet of water. I was marking some big hooks down there and thought maybe they were Kings.....The rod wasn't down for 10 seconds and it fired with the LT. Best spoons were Green and white glow, and Billy Habenaro...... Back out Sunday AM.....Happy fourth boys! Matt
  3. King fisher....Couple of weeks ago we were up there and caught a pile of big northerns by Fox Island ....Shallow flat by the cattails. We also caught some real nice ones on the deep drop off by the duck blind on the rocky point......
  4. Deadly rigs! I run them for browns and kings. Here's how I run them. Obviously I use them on the the side riggers. I use the quarter size big john dipseys (the smallest they make. I rig the leader as long as I can and still land the fish. You don't need a snubber. I use 20# Seagar Fluorocarbon for the leader and when the fleas are bad, I just use the plain ole 30# Ande. What you do is let out the desired amount of line with the dipsey/leader attached. I tend to go 25 ft or so. Then I crank down on the release and run the rigger about 5 ft above the marks on my graph. Depending on the beam of your boat, you can run the side riggers very close without them getting hung up with each other. I like to use this in gin clear water and when the fish are diving out of the riggers on the graph. It may not work all the time, but if it gets you one more for the day its worth it. Good luck............Matt
  5. Well I'm not a handy guy when it comes to outboards. I have an Evinrude on my Duck hunting boat and I have all the service done at RAS on route 104 in Spencerport. The guy is professional and does great work.....
  6. I used Ira Jones this year and he was great. Extemely professional. I would recommend him for sure....
  7. Tried our usual Brown trout haunt no hits and not even any marks. Worked our way out to 280 and picked up three teen Kings on one of my homemade paint job spoons. I happen to buy some Extreme bright glow paint and painted up some silver blanks. They worked good today, but the jury is still out. Anyway, we made our way back into 120ft and beat up the Lakers for a while. I just couldn't break that 15 # class. Didn't want to keep and kill a fish for a $50.00 pay out. Overall a real nice day on the lake and plenty of action for us. The one thing that has me worried is, I haven't marked a ton of bait like I used to this time of year. May try an afternoon trip this week............Matt
  8. Caught the Northerns on slow retrieved gold spoons. All the fish were near Fox and Grenadier Islands. Most of them came near Grenadier near basin Harbor.
  9. Anyone know where I could get some of these spoons? Hard to find. They are similar to a Sutton spoon, but just a little heavier. Thanks
  10. We were mainly after Essox. We did troll for a short time in Chamout with negative results.....
  11. Went to Mud Bay for our annual fishing trip. Man the Northerns were in thick. The first night we caught around 30 Northerns in about 21/2 hours. The second night we fished we probably had 20 more. The fish were all big ones and were very healthy. Heres some pics.......
  12. Back at it again this morning. Left the dock at 515 and found a nice flat lake with some visible temperature breaks out in around 150. We started with 4 boards, and two riggers(Cheated). In about 3 minutes we had 4 short bites on two of the boards and both riggers. We ended up going out to 180 and connected on a high teens King. Trolled back into 130 and all hell broke loose. The sliders we going, and the boards went. Best colors were the green glow Carlson, NK wonder bread 28. Fishlander orange and silver, and the Dreamweaver firecracker. We ended the day at 1000....I think we were 13 for 20.....Lost count after a while.......
  13. Started off very slow for me today. 2 hrs no hits, no runs, no errors. We went out a little deeper and Bang......5 kings in a row. 2 fish in the 20's.....other three were 10's. We did manage two lakers over 14.(The only Lakers we took for the day.) The program that worked for me was Green glow silver cup 67 down.....Did one fish off the boards......No hits on the wire....Back at it on Monday....
  14. A few years ago we fished the Oswego Pro Am. It was very rough one day and when we left the dock, I asked the observer if he was used to rough water. The observer(a young punk) was a real smart ass and replied.." Don't worry about it. My Dad's a charter captain, and I can fish in anything." After only 1/2 hour out there, smart ass goes down in our head and proceeds to yack all over the bathroom. I go down and drag him upstairs and hold him over the side. Man I felt like throwing him over. The whole time I was busting his balls..." Oh you can fish in anything huh......."
  15. I have an Evinrude on my Duck Boat and the only place I will take it to is RAS outboards. The work they do is top notch.www.rasoutboard.com/
  16. Check out my post under " Reports" ....Lake Erie 05/10.......
  17. I know this is Lake Ontario...But I took a day off of salmon fishing and tried for some Lake Erie Bronze backs We ended the day with close to 60 Trophy small mouth with many of them being in the 4 to 5lb class......
  18. Ive been on the website and searched a lot of private sites....Does anyone have a clue as to where I can order some Diamond King spoons? Thanks for the help.....
  19. I tend to under-estimate the wave heights. The king took a Bomber Long A off the board with a split shot. The other fish were on the usual spring suspects....Red spoons, Natural plugs....
