  1. I need to get some rips fixed in my bow cover and wondered if anyone has a place they recommend. I live in Attica so Buffalo and Rochester are about the same distance. Thanks
  2. I thought the show was great, only downfall was not bringing enough money. I like the fact that the vendors carried gear for the fishing we do as to me it seems like Cabelas, Bass pro, etc carries mostly bass and clothes and I can never find exactly what I am looking for. I didn't make it to any seminars or the flea market but did in the past at Lockport (which was great). The only problem to being so close to such great fishing is too many choices and not enough time. For me unless I specialize in one area I don't do well catching.
  3. Ok thanks for the info. So then the next question is where does everyone suggest I take it? I live in Attica so Rochester or Buffalo are about the same distance.
  4. Tried searching for an answer but didn't find one. What's the best way to fix rips in a canvas bow cover? There are two about 3-4" long rips. I'm thinking of using the iron on patches but might sew them first so they don't get bigger. I pull a dumb move and set something on the bow of the boat and when I went to take it off it caught the cover. Any better ways to fix it? Thanks in advance.
  5. Was at Captain Bobs in Clarence and he had a few in the back. There was pinkish ones and green (maybe perch) not sure the color names though.
  6. I have depth raider which came with my boat when I bought it. I like it, but the coated cable is a pain to deal with and would go with a fishhawk if buying a new one.
  7. interested in the off shore planer. Would you be willing to ship it? I'm in Attica. Let me know. didn't notice the small print about shipping. Pming you.
  8. There are some 3' and 6" on ebay right now. I haven't seen any 5's on lately and am also looking for some. They have been my hottest lure, sucks they stopped making them. What would be a lure similar to them?
  9. There are spots where guys pass shoot at geese and they try to get to the highest spot they can. I have thought about the same in my tree stand while deer hunting before, my only concern would be if the geese follow the same route every time. As far as I know its legal as long as you follow the other waterfowl hunting rules.
  10. It's an aluminum boat not fiberglass, swim platform was lag bolted in. I am trying to lag bolt it to the transom and the bolts just seem to pull out. I cannot get a bolt with a nut on it inside the boat where the bolt comes into the boat is between a support and a storage wall. The wood seems a little soft in between the aluminum, which I may take the transom apart next summer and replace the wood. But for now would like a fix.
  11. Having an issue with my swim platform on a 2001 StarCraft superfisherman. One of the bolts on the swim platform is not holding any longer. I tried a bigger bolt but they just keep pulling out when you put any weight on it. I cannot get to the inside of the area due to a support on transom and wall on storage area. So putting a bolt with nut on the end will not help. Any ideas to secure it? Drill out bigger and put a new lag bolt? I've tried stainless but they seem to get chewed up trying to put any tightness to it, would a regular steel bolt work? TIA
  12. This warm weather sucks for waterfowl hunting. I've been trying to pattern some geese but they are in a different spot almost everyday. There are some ducks around but they are same ones since the beginning of the season.
  13. What one are you looking for? I have 2 but they are fixed length. I'll add pics when I get a chance
  14. My buddy is the biologist up there, I'll send him a text to see if anyone called them.
  15. They do work at certain times, I have seen them pull ducks in. Geese do not like them. But they are a pain to drag in and out if walking into a site and like Jakey use a jerk cord more.
  16. how mechanically inclined are you? If not find a good marine mechanic that can look over the boat you are getting serious about There are a lot of good boats out there on craigslist but you need to know what your looking at with the motor as bandrus said the motor is the big ticket item your buying. I would stick with the big names also for motors Johnson/evinrude, mercury, Yamaha, Honda. Stay away from Chrysler, force, etc. I am also religious about the gas I put in the boat and usually have less issues. It's cheaper to buy in the fall as many people don't want to winterize or store a boat.
  17. I have both a hunting and fishing log. The fishing one I have started again after not keeping one for a while. I keep depth, temp, wind, fish caught, etc. I think it helps like tlr426 said helps to pattern fish. The more I hunt and fish the more patterns I see. I'm a duck and goose hunter and the geese seem to always be in certain fields consistently in the early season. I'm hoping fishing will be the same, hoping that the perch on Erie are in the same areas next spring.

  20. Got mine and wifes about 2 weeks ago. Usually she gets her license a day or two before I get mine for whatever reason.
  21. Nice, Wife and I are going to make the trip this year with a 1.5 yr old lab and an 8 year old lab. She has a guy she works with out there that hunts and says he can set us up on some good state land. He is by Parkston. Sounds like we should do ok. Even a bad year for you out there is 10X's better than a good year in NY.
  22. Thanks for all the replies and help. The next time I have to cut the cable I will put a Blacks release above the probe as that is what I like and am used to. I do have a Chamberlain release that I might have to see if I can put it on like Skippers trophy says without cutting. I have been wanting to try it as they are supposed work well on lite bites as I have had walleye tagging along for the ride on the riggers without tripping them.
  23. I know on my vehicles the lien is on the title and you get a letter releasing the lien, but if you want a title that says no lien you have to pay for it. Dealer told me title and letter are good for sale. If it was me and someone had a letter releasing the lien I would call to make sure. Sent from my XT907 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. Thanks for the info. I was thinking that also but was unsure how to do that with the coated cable. I think I can get it to work now by using the release that slides on the cable and anchor it above the probe.
