  1. Not to hijack the post are you going with an Outfitter? Looking for a spot myself to start hunting in Ohio. Lots of Outfitters with not much information. Sean
  2. Looks like photo shop when you look at legs
  3. All good points! It's important when you are starting out to keep a log of what works and all the information that goes along with it. I can tell you right now what rigs, lures, location and depth to catch fish on what ever finger lake you want at each month. It sure makes things easier no matter what brand spoon you run.
  4. That's a great bear with a great hide on him. Sean
  5. First mark your arrows and make sure your problem isn't just one broadhead. I had problems with G5s out of every three I'd have one that wouldn't fly like the rest even if I switched shaft's. I ended up shooting slick tricks 100 gr.
  6. I'm with the above any place in brisket or high shoulder they bleed like crazy but keep on going. The buck in the picture I tracked 5 miles after a shoulder hit. That photo was taken the next year.
  7. Good luck to you all this morning hunting. Im on the road working the night shift and the deer are running all over. The 25 degree temps have kicked off things big time tonight.
  8. LOL first thing she did was call her grandfather and let him know her bull was bigger than the Elk he has. Not to mention the bragging she talked to me all week. I love it it's better than hunting myself.
  9. We hunted with Compass West Outfitters, great outfit. They take care of all your applications for the draw, and if you don't want to wait to draw a tag they have some good landowner permits available. I will be using them again. Sean
  10. Thanks guys, we were in unit 34 in the south part of the state. Lots of good bulls in the area. I talked to some guys that got to hunt unit 17 and they had some giants in that unit this year.
  11. Thanks for the pics glad to see this report I check it every day. Few more days and ill get out.
  12. Just got back from a great trip to NM with my 12 year old daughter Sierra. Sierra made it a short hunt filling her elk tag the first few minutes of the first day. Day one started with elk all around us twenty cows or so and two good bulls one of which went at least 370 and the good 6x6 that she shot. The cows had us pinned down and were feeding towards us to within 10 yards, the 6x6 and bigger bull were fighting and beating up trees and brush over a bank 300 yards away. The cows never made us so when the bull stepped into a clearing at 250 yds before I could say a word Sierra put one in his heart with the 300 mag. I couldn't be more proud of her and for her first elk it is one heck of a bull. We spent the rest of the week traveling around NM and Southern CO. We did hit a great rifle range outside Albuquerque the first day where she got to shoot steel out to 760yds. The rest of the week we visited White Sands, Carlsbad Caverns, Roswell, Chama ( the Cumbres and Toltec railroad ride was awesome) and we hiked the continental divide trail for a few miles in CO looking for Elk. It was a trip I can't wait to do again with her or her sisters.
  13. Great buck, if the 1.5 year old in the lower pic could make it to 3.5 like the other buck he will be a heck of a deer to. Go get him and get some close up shots
  14. Good post all of you guys and thanks for helping out Nick. The lake is not what it used to be and most likely never will be. The problem starts miles from the lake with miles of farm land cleared, drain tile laid in every field every 5 yards and millions of tons of liquid crap pumped on the fields hours before thunder storms. Winery's clearing more land spreading fertilizer, pesticides and what not. Then the same hippy A-Holes go protest a LP storage site its a joke. All that crap ends up in the lake. It all starts with the little things you don't notice. And they are all things that will not change. On the scale of what's important to the state the fishery we love will always get trumped by other things its the same with lake O. All we can do is hope the stocking continues and help out where we can. One thing that totally pisses me off is letting everyone bang on the Bows in the small feeder streams that feed the main creek. That's an easy fix close them. Easy to enforce, if you walk out with a fishing rod your arrested, walk out at night and don't own the land arrested. I caught lots of bows on Seneca this year like I usually do but the Laker and Salmon fishing was poor at best.
  15. Area we were in was an any bull area which was nice didn't need to worry about messing up. Lots of good ones though, but we just shot the one. A day and a half of packing in swamp, bogs, and brush over half a mile one was enough. LOL
  16. Thanks guys! Yup meat has to stay on the bone in the area we were in. A hind quarter on your back gives you a work out.
  17. Just getting back from my DIY Moose hunt with my dad in the Yukon Delta western Alaska. It was an awesome trip that I would recommend to anyone looking for the hunt of a lifetime. I'll get some pictures and details up this week. Dads Bull
  18. Sounds good only way the guys I know would jump in for $500 would be if winner gets boat. For a $500 entry fee tournament guys expect big money or the big prize. And with big money and big entry fee you need a great rule structure. Like observers, also guys that troll won't dump big entry fee money to fish against guys that aren't trolling. I like the idea and its nice to see someone in the area working on a tournament. Sean
  19. Called me also wanted to come to my home to do an interview. Told them I was all set and my 190 pound dog didn't need any visitors today he just finished eating the last one.
