  1. With any thing you can get a lemon! Got mine new in 2009 all withing first month had two cross members break almost dumped new boat on road. They had put wrong actuator on for hydrolic disk breaks so burnt breaks off first week. And all tires burnt up in a month. Also put bleaders for breaks in wrong position so break lines broke. After some new parts and professional welding not the crap they did, and new radial tires I've had no problems. And I hall it a lot. Sean
  2. What you haven't seen big foot! . He is that big harry guy that takes his mountain lion for walks in the north woods. You know next to the home of the mystical unicorn. LOL
  3. Nice buck! I passed three like him in Illinois opening day two weeks ago but I'd shoot him here.
  4. That's awesome!! I've got three girls who all started at that age. Before you know it he will be knocking them down. I had my 11 year old in Illinois for deer this year, and all of them out in NY. I only spent one day in the woods without a kid in tote this season. Once again great job and you have him on the right path.
  5. Clear some ground and dump some hay if not and this stays on all winter the deer will take a big hit.
  6. Trail cams every 200 yards, everyone with a gun in truck, everyone with gun in woods, yet not one has killed one. I got friends that run trap line all winter in areas where people claim they see them, with snow on all winter they would cut tracks. Lots of bobcats caught this year and they have a hell of a track in the snow.
  7. Same here not a shot, brother in-law is on same ridge 3 miles south same report from him.
  8. . Exactly Ray! To many hunting shows have pounded QDM into everyone's head. They take place on 5 thousand acres that never have doe killed. I like you also hunt Illinois and other states. One outfitter I use shoots no does for that reason. Even on split up 500 acre spots enough does get killed by neighboring hunters that these guys wont allow a doe shot, keeps the big guys coming in from miles. That's the problem with lack of rut activity in many areas. The deer are not alive to rut. Guys killing does in a low doe area in the name of QDM and farmers rolling over does all summer have put a smack down on them around me. Like said above its very area specific. If you got them count your blessings and try to protect what you have. Sean
  9. Great buck I bet he is in the 4.5 year range. He has made it past some hunters. Heck of a deer.
  10. Nice post! Glad you guys got that deer.
  11. Buck to doe ratio doesn't have to much to do with it. Problem is you need to have a couple bucks in the area with some age on them. At least 2.5 year olds. I've rattled in some good bucks early in the season. When they get locked down with a doe don't bother. The Set up with any type of calling is most important. If deer can see deep past your call set they will never come in. Put some thick stuff at your back and they will run you over.
  12. Sorry for your loss Wes. Thank you for sharing the fishing story's I love that flasher, I bet he did want that hidden. If you need anything or wanna get out on the boat someday just let me know. Sean
  13. Clear card the same way each time don't just delete pictures. Make sure you format the card on your pc . I had the same problem. Sean
  14. If you have food on neighboring property forget the plots, or just go with one. Your better off letting things grow as thick as you can get them. I go into sections on my property and just clear cut a patch and let the brush grow. Bedding areas are your best bet for killing a good buck. You won't get to many 3.5 year old or older bucks in a food plot in the daylight. But as soon as they start bumping does they will hit every bedding area they can find to get a doe on her feet. I have seen guys take down grass/brush bedding areas to plant plots. All they do is feed the deer and send them to the neighbors to bed and get shot.
  15. Nice one Ray!! I'd let that one walk:). Just got back from Illinois youth hunt my daughter had a 160 that needed to take three more steps. That's the way it goes we had a blast. Sean
  16. I was a die hard expendable guy for years. Two years ago my brother in law and I each purchased around 400 dollars worth of heads and shot the crap out of them for a week. The slick tricks flew like a dart and never came apart. The G5's flew good also but it seemed like out of every pack one would be off even after changing shafts. So if you're using fixed blades make sure you shoot them first which most guys do. I have blown threw both shoulders on some 3.5 to 4.5 year old bucks with the slick tricks or other fixed blades and had the arrow in the dirt on the opposite side. I also hit a 4.5 year old 12 on the back side of the shoulder with a rage and knocked I'm on his side. He got up and walked off. Three months latter I had trail cam pics of him with an absesed shoulder running a doe. He would have been dead with the slick trick. The size off the bone mass and front end on a 3.5 year old or older buck versus a 1.5 year old is a huge difference. I loved the expendables for perfect rib cage shot would look like a cannon ball hit them. But aftet being in on some hunts and a couple of my own that should have been on the wall if using fixed blades I won't go back. It is more time consuming and more money getting the right head tuned and ready for your bow but its worth it if you catch 4 inches of shoulder over the kill zone on the buck you only get to see once in a lifetime.
  17. Nice Post!! I have three girls from 6 to 11 all have been hunting with me since they were 4. Probably 95% of my hunting time one or more of them is with me. I've got my walls coverd with great bucks and have been blessed with great spots to hunt. Now days Its all about the kids and its great to hear them brag about deer that were shot while with me when they point at the bucks on the wall. Or when we are eating dinner and they say is this my deer and they dive right in. Sunday night I had the little one out we had 4 different bucks at 10 yds or less I told her let me know if you want me to shoot one. I had to laugh when she said let's whait for an eight point. That's what I get for showing her trail cam picks. Now her older sister would of dumped the first one:) Its never to early to start them out, just make it fun.
  18. Cold front blowing in temp drop and wind for sat morning I'd find something else fun the kids want to do that day.
  19. Nice new boat Nick! You should grab my slip for next year its extra wide. I'm done donating slip money for a boat that's on the trailer most of the time. Sean
  20. I'm sure he is, live and learn water under the bridge now. No fishing for me I took the last three weeks off felt good to be with kids and get stuff done. Probably will hit Seneca this next week.
  21. Great Report! Boy I'd love to get at VP from Yamaha on my boat for the day. After the money they cost me.
